Discussion: Worth Launch 510

Hi Guys....Just purchased new Launch 510 for $99 & no shipping. It was such a good price that we are looking to purchase several more for team BP use. At basically half the price of the others if we can get a winters worth of BP it would be worth it. That said our source for the $99 bat is out of stock. Anyone out there have any sources (other than eBay). Thanks

Discussion: Yellow Macenko VS Grey Combat

Hi Guys....looking for some feedback regarding your experience so far as it applies to the DURABILITY ONLY with the new yellow Macenko as compared to the grey Senior Combat. Looks like there are enough Macenko bats out there now to establish a trend. I have hit both now with the yellow having a bit more pop. Unfortunately i have seen now two yellow bats with less than 200 hits crack. I was led to believe that the durability on the Macenko bats had improved. Please i understand temperature, balls etc. etc. have an effect so let's not make this a mile long thread. Just looking for first hand info regarding breakage. Thanks guys!

Discussion: BAN THE ULTRA

Hey PEPPERGRINDER just a question. Do you tell your buddies with the new large head composite golf clubs that they are cheaters? What about the College kids who no longer uses wood but aluminum (ps with far less injuries per capita then walking off a curb) that they are all cheaters. What about the composite tennis racquets ...they must all be cheaters. Oh the hockey industry with their composite sticks....i know they are all cheaters. Just FYI 8-Tracks are no longer the latest technology. This is the 21st Century and as one quite astute individual once said "LEAD....FOLLOW... OR GET OUT OF THE WAY"

Just another comment regarding the Desert Bloom complex. The lights were terrible with several near injuries. Restrooms were disgusting! No doors, soap or paper towels we are softball players and have been there before but the wives , girlfriends & fans deserve a bit more. Cops at the complex and surrounding area every several hours busting people.

Hey Dirty....Bowling????????? How could you possibly like bowling? It used to be twenty-five cents a game and NOW it's sooooo costly! AND the balls have changed sooooo much. There are now made of high tech material which makes it easier for Seniors to knock down more pins..... Gee how can you possibly pay for someone elses R&D. I guess however maybe bowling tournaments have more or just as many teams as in the old days. Makes one wonder.

Discussion: Timing

Hey Monta and Pete.....DB here. This guy has an opinion in every post....adnauseam. Like the insecure little boy that starts a fight or fire then runs away to watch what happens then returns to the crime again. I really need his advice on how to hit 1.000 I hope i don't have a problem with my timing. If i did then i might pay too much for my bats thus supporting someone else's R&D or be forced to play in a tournament with too few teams. Oh please don't lets this be true.

Discussion: New Combat Macenko Model

Dirty..... No one human being can continue to remain as backwardly negative or unable to comprehend logic as you . Do you realize that this is the twenty-first century! Technology in sports changes and evolves. Golf no longer uses a feather ball and a stick, Hockey no longer uses wood as the primary material on their sticks, Tennis no longer uses wood rackets, even the wood bat technology has drastically changed etc.etc. Technology as stated evolves as does man (most men)! Those who play those sports ALL have the same opportunity to use the best and latest equipment. Their performance has NOT been artificially enhanced by technology....just changed. Go take your worthless drivel to a Pro sports venue and see what type of responses you get from them. Even the wood bat technology has drastically changed You have every right to an opinion but please admit that you have a ZERO chance of changing the POSITIVE views we seniors have of this game. You are now merely fodder for our comments. You cannot live in your parents house forever. Either man up and play tournaments with us guys (you may find a better understanding) or PLEASE, PLEASE go to another site where you have some chance of changing perspectives.

Discussion: Senior events I like and why my own personal list

Sorry but i personally cannot speak as you may for "anyone" and or everyone.....nor should you try to do likewise. I speak only for myself. Some tournaments have three teams some five some as in Phoenix on occasion may have twenty. We are always guaranteed five games and typically enjoy all of them. Our life at softball tournaments does not solely rest on the number of teams in our division. At this point in many of our careers there may be more intrinsic, social and or camaraderie issues which keep us paying what we do.

I usually sit back and listen to much of the senseless banter here and truly try to filter out the reasonable information BUT.......Here! Here! I totally agree with the last post. Who is this guy "Dirty" anyway! Where does he play ? (league only) where someone else PAYS! or an occasional tournament where the right number of teams( in his opinion) are there and someone else PAYS! or plays where he does not have to PAY for his own Senior bats? Just one mans opinion but if softball is so miserable and too expensive to him then join a bowling league or chess league.........where someone else PAYS!. I try to avoid this guys posts as we all have enough downers in life but they continue to come up ad-nauseam. We all cannot predict when our last game will be and i sure do not wish to be buried with my money.....to" DIRTY" quit whining about all the negatives and try to enjoy a game that we are fortunate to be able to still play at our ages!

Discussion: A team's rating!

It never ceases to amaze me how selfish and classless many of you guys are. Yes, Terry is back in the mid west attending the funeral of his mother!!!! She passed Monday the very day after he was at the SLC Nationals. You may wish to reflect on your whining about ratings and how many of you feel mistreated and dumped upon. This is Senior softball (not the bigs). We should all be thankful we are still alive and able to play this game we enjoy.

Discussion: COACHES CORNER-DO NOT READ IF YOU ARE NOT A COACH

Hi Dennis......sorry but i currently do not meet all the necessary requirements but have done my fair share of coaching......which is why i no longer put myself through the agony. I thought i might comment. My primary reason though was to say hello. I was the First baseman (Dennis) on the Lake Havasu Hawks in Laughlin this year. Had a great time with you and and the guys as teammates and hope to see you all again! As for your prima donna, that's a tough one. I had thought by the 50's and 60's that much of the testosterone levels would have diminished a bit.....WRONG. What i have seen are many frustrated jocks with your basic high school level of play continuing to play out the string of frustration of having gone no farther. What i also see are two types of coaches. Those who run the team and those who let some players run the team. My personal comment is that your scenario as stated has put the burden on eleven or twelve other teammates all of which have paid there fair share of expenses especially if flights, rooms, rental cars, etc are involved.. By letting those actions continue you also REALLY risk the chance of loosing some of your others players thus really putting yourself in a bind. Then there is the coach that can close his eyes based on the ability of the prima donna and the thought that when he plays he is one of the better players and giving the team a better chance of winning. The other players however see right through this. My suggestion is that you have an off site team meeting with no distractions. Tell everyone that unless there is an emergency (which happens) you expect a commitment to a published tournament schedule or at least a week or two notice that he is unable to make it. Sorry to be so long winded. It's a shame that softball sometimes resembles the real world of work!

Discussion: Pictures on website?

Jack: Just a comment. Many of us are really not aware of your service. We were in Phoenix and really would have enjoyed a team picture but did not know you were there. In addition many players have stated that they personally would have also enjoyed some personal action shots of themselves. Many guys are moving from 50's to 55's to 60's etc. and are unaware what you provide for Senior Softball.

Discussion: Ultra II break in period?

Hi Guys....for what it's worth. Mikken has seen the last of my business. I certainly have no loyalties to either Mikken or Combat Personally speaking either bat will take a .44 core ball 300 plus just as easily as the other. My experience however is that the Combat is extremely more durable and significantly outlasts the Ultra II. For myself and my style of hitting my Combats have outlasted the Ultra II at a minimum five or six to one. The manufacturing technology among composite bat makers is not that drastically diverse or maybe it is thus the reason for the longer lasting Combat. As for a break in period on either one....the on going myth is 100 hits (most likely started by the bat manufactures). I do believe however that at least a few maybe 15-20 hits makes the bat feel less than a large piece of PVC. The discussion between the two bats comes up every weekend and makes for some good comparisons. Just one more observation....hope it helps.
