Tri18, I really can't believe that you have not had any issues. None what so ever. I guess I better buy all of my bats off of you. So are you trying to tell me there is a 3rd Combat plant. Ha Ha! The question is which factory is yours being shipped out of?

Nevermind, I guess I need to get my facts straight. I apologize, Combat does have 2 plants. I was not aware of that. One in Canada that has been doing the smaller knobs. And they have not had any issues with the bat chipping. and one in Washington. I lost my mind for a sceond. The one in Washington is where all of the chipping is coming from. They do the big knob there in Kent at the Combat factory...

Let me jump in here and explain something to who ever wants to listen. You don't have to but I think I know a little bit about what I am talking about. First there is no difference in the performance of the White Centenarian whether you think it is from the USA or Canada. I did not know that Combat had 2 different plants to build bats. Unless I am being lied to the bats are made by the same developer Steven Sutherland who is the president at Combat in Ottawa, Ontario. The bats are made in the same factory and the only difference is the big knob versus the little knob. Yes Anaconda sells the big knob. Somebody else sells the little knob. The white bat is a great bat no matter which knob you prefer. All of the bats have chipped from the paint no matter where you bought them. I even had a friend of mine tell me that a guy in the parking at at one of the senior tournaments that the only bats that were chipping were the ones that were sold with the big knob. Wow, why would someone say that about a product that they are selling that has the same issues. That is what kills me. I have seen post from different players with both size knobs that say their bat has had some bad chipping. I have had one customer send his bat back because of the issue with an umpire. The bat was replaced and he now has 350 cuts on the bat with no chipping. Have they fixed the issue with the paint. I hope so. Just thought you might want to know.....

Yes the batting practice was fun. It could have been better if Gary would have shown up but I just show up myself. Yes I am trying to get in better hitting shape. Had some medical treatments to my one leg and I will work on the other leg sometime real soon. It felt very good swinging. The first time in a while. Even though I have hit this year a few times it just wasn't comfortable. Going to get some swings in today. Was working on a bat from Combat that really hits the crap out of the ball.

My boy Tread, Big D was hitting some nice shots all morning. Nice easy swing for the big guy. I don't know if it helps or not with 23 inch arms. Just kidding. It has to help! Ha! Ha!

I am going to hit in Cleveland's Progressive Stadium (August 6th0 when the Long Haul Bombers are in town. I am going to Hit For Gordie, The Old Scout. He is in pretty bad shape and has had a rough time with his health the last couple of years. So somewhere during their hitting contest, either before or after I am going to see how many I can hit out. For every ball I hit I have someone donating 200.00 to help Gordie. I hope to get 10 swings and we will see what happens. I am looking forward to it so it should be fun..

Good Luck to Big D and all Senior players in the upcoming months. The weather is extremely hot this summer so stay cool and be safe.

Oh yeah, if you need any softball equipment just give me a call. I have some great closeout deals on Reebok balls. Great for batting practice. Have some ASA 44/375 White softballs for $20.00 a dozen. Believe me you can't go wrong. The Reebok balls are very good softballs. I should know I have been hitting them long enough...

Gary,
I was hoping to hit there again today but Chicken said they called it off. It is Brook Park days there but we will hit this week.

Had a great time seeing Big D. And we had some good batting practice. Had 6 guys and we hit in pairs. Worked out great. Got there early and the Brook Park seniors were hitting already and they moved fields so we could hit on the one with nothing but shuffle board courts behind it. If we would have hit on the other field we would have got in trouble hitting balls onto the tents. Ha! Ha!

Yes Tim it was your team up on the hill. That was 1990. Didn't Wes Lord lead the tourney in hitting that year with a .900 average, or real close to that? And Alan I remember playing your team as well. Did Scott Walinus play 3rd base and Jackie McClain pitch? I remember Hank playing the outfield. I think that might have been 1989. I think Dirk Androff hit 8 home runs in the one game against your team in 1989. If it was 1989, then the little team called Ritch's came back throught the losers bracket to win the tourney with Charles Wright as the MVP.

Those were some good times back then with all of the friendship you had in the game. Fun times win or lose... Ritch's beat our Steele's team up on the hill Sunday morning in the losers bracket. I believe we got beat by New Construction and that was when Virkus and Mr. Neale were getting into it pretty heavy in the dugout after our loss. That ws 1989. Ritch's went on to win the ASA Men's Major that year as well..

Hey John, yes it was the place. In 1990 they had everyone on the teams rosters including the coaches to be expecting to take a test. In 1990 they took 3 people from the 2 teams playing for the championship. Steele's and Lighthouse. They tested in 1990 in Oklahoma, 1991 in Little Rock, Arkansas with Ritch's and Sunbelt Plastics, and in 1992 in Hendersonville, Tennessee where they played the Conway Twitty. They had the ASA there and it was Ritch's and Steeles Hitmen..

Pricer, I talk to Schleede pretty often. I haven't talked with him lately. Great guy and a great ball player. The guy loves the Blues!

As far as what bat I use, I actually like to use them all. I know I have my name on one and I love my MM bats. But when I hit sometimes I will try other bats to see what is out there from other manufacturers. I have swung all of the bats. I would like to say it is at least 20 feet difference with the senior bats vs. the ASA sticks. I am talking right out of the wrapper. Once a bat is hit so many times anything can happen to any bat. Some last forever and some break too quick that is for sure.

My feelings are as of today, that the bat and ball combo is perfect for Senior softball. 44/375 is the only way to go.

When I am playing in a game I will swing either one of the Combats - Red 10 inch, Grey, Yellow 13 or 10 inch, Blue 13 inch, or the White one 10 inch. I have them all in my bag and will swing them all.

That is right Big D. We should be able to hit Friday morning in Brook Park. They play the men's senior league there on Tuedsay and Thursday mornings untl 12.00 So we should not have any problems for Friday. I am going to try have a couple of guys from that league maybe and then the Maple Heights league. I might be able to get some players from the Northern Ohio 50 team. I will make sure I bring some shitty balls. Ha!Ha! Just kidding. If Gary19 wants to show up he is more than welcome. I am from Cleveland and don't have anything against softball players.... Anyone is welcome.
See you there Big D!

Hey Doc, you are right about Denny. He started the Steele's deal with John Brenner and Coats. He does know the game and the players out there today. As far as the field goes my Steele's team played on that field in 1987 against Smythe Sox to open it up. It was the week after Smythe beat us for the USSSA crown in Waterloo, Iowa.

They played the ASA Men's Super there in 1988, 1989, and in 1990. They were using Wilson balls at the time because Wilson wanted to be part of the big picture with ASA. They gave the ASA something like 50,000 for that. They could never really get the right ball together for that event. We even played the 1989 Olympic Festival there in 1989.

All 4 events the Wilson ball was different. In 1990 our Steele's team scored like 80 runs on the top field. Both fields face in the same direction. The wind blows out to left field every day. It's Oklahoma and boy does the wind blow there. In 1990 we used a good Wilson ball and you had some high scoring games. We beat Lighthouse 62-50 for the championship. The year before our Steele's team with Bruce Meade lost to Lighthouse 7-6. The ball that year was a Wilson ball and the cor was nothing. It was just an outside shell. They used the same ball in the Olympic Festival that same year and that is when one player pushed an umpire and someone else spit on one. Needless to say with those actions they didn't want slo-pitch in the Olympics. After 1990 they play the ASA A,B, and C Championships there. I believe they still do today. In 1990 I hit one ball that went over the top of those trees in right field. Bill Blake and Dirk Androff hit balls onto the top field. The ball really flies there. That is one reason it is so hard for the players to keep it in the yard there now. How many swings were there that looked like they were trying to hit a line drive and it flew right out.

Anyways I enjoyed the game.
Sorry for the rambling on... Just brought back some old but good memories...

Hey Bruce, if Rainwater would not have taken such a wide turn at 3rd base. He alsmost touched the dugout as he was rounding 3rd. All in all it was a good game to watch with a great play to end the game. I watched it this mornig at 5:00 it was on again. Denny Helmig from Worth was the co host announcer. Denny works at Worth and actually started Steele's Sports. He has been around awhile.

taits, you can call this number and give it a try with Combat. The number is 866-904-2287. You can ask for Melanie, or e-mail her at mfaucher@combatsportsgroup.com. She is handling all of the endcap issues for us at Anaconda. Give her a shout and she should be able to help you. You will have to send the bat in to them and they can repair it for you. Give her a call and let me know how it goes. Thanks and good luck...

Discussion: end cap for COMBAT

HJ, before I would use the Gorilla Glue I would go with the 3M 5200 Polyurethane Adhesive Sealant. It comes in a 3oz Tube. This is the glue that I would use. Kevin was the one that found it to be very good with plugs. Once it dries it still has a little give to it like a hard rubber. Gorilla Glue will dry and it will become hard and is a strong bond, but once it is hit again it will become brittle from the vibration. Any type of epoxy glue will dry hard but once the bat is hit again it will start to break up on the inside. The middle of the bat flexes and the end of the bat opens up. That is why the plugs come out or get loose. Combat has been working on the plugs all along and have got it down to a limited amount of end plug issues. If you have an issue with it then I would try and repair it myself. You can send it back to Combat and they will repair it. You just have to get it there. If you want to send it back to Combat contact Melanie @ Combat. Her phone number is 866-904-2287. She is handling end plug issues for Anaconda through Combat. I hope this helps. Give the 3M glue a chance and I think it will work for you. Make sure and use some 80 grit sand paper and clean up the outside of the plug and then the inside of the barrel. It is a pretty good way to fix em. Kevin did a few of mine that way. The bat broke but the plug never came out again. Anyways good luck!.

No it is not the same as the Red 10 Inch Combat. They are similar. The actual design of the barrel size looks the same. They are endloaded like the Red bat. Combat uses a different type of composite material to increase the strength and durability of the bat. Once again they can tweak the composite material to be stronger but still have the great performance like the rest of the Combat Senior line of softball bats. The bat has a stiffer feel but with a soft shell. I hope this helps.

HJ, the bat is the same as the one Kevin is selling. The only difference is the knob at the end of the bat. The one Kevin is selling has a smaller knob. The one Anaconda is selling is the regular standard size knob. There is not supposed to be any difference in the performance of the bat. I have them on sale right now for 189.00 and that includes shipping and handling.

Once again it comes down to the players preference. Small knob versus standard knob. Anyone that is interested give me a call at 330-419-0205 or e-mail me at mike@houseofswing.com.
Thank You.
