| Feb. 19, 2009 4Four4 | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: Readington Tournament April 4/5 Mike - Thanks for the response. There's plenty of time for us to make plans. - Dave DH #4 The Tub |
| Feb. 16, 2009 4Four4 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Pitcher Protect - LARGE GLOVE Bruce - Thanks. I have seen many larger than 14" mitts used in Major&AAA play. The rule - if any - is loosely policed and thats OK with me. I don't know how guys needing a quick response use them but if they provide additional safety I think they should be allowed. |
| Feb. 16, 2009 4Four4 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Pitcher Protect - LARGE GLOVE Is there a rule that dictates the size and shape of a fielder's glove? Does it prevent a pitcher (or 3B) from wearing any size or shape they choose. Some may wish to go to the large scoop or oversized OF gloves now available. DH #4 The Tub |
| Feb. 2, 2009 4Four4 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: There's STATS and there are stats... When determining a team's MVP, stats are a significant part of the criteria, but not always the most important decision driver. When a team plays together for an entire season(s), often an individual performance of leadership, un-selfishness, or some other spiritually relevant reason should allow the team to choose it's MVP - not a tournament director. (You have to be on the inside to know who.) DH#4 The Tub |
| Dec. 5, 2008 4Four4 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: What are some of your favorite Famous quotes, lines or sayings? "The difference between a man and a woman is that, when confronted with the choice of catching a pop fly or a falling baby, a woman will always choose the child without first considering the score of the game or how many are on base....." 4Four4 (and yeah - I'm going to hell for this) |
| Oct. 23, 2008 4Four4 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Any unbelievable, spectacular, unusual or funny plays or calls to share? Triple play turned in finals of winners bracket in Vegas 55AAs. Men on 1&2nd, ground ball to 2nd baseman, Eddie throws to Joe(SS) covering who throws to Denny (1st) just expecting to turn a DP but the guy on second hesitates going to 3rs long enough for the 1st to 3rd(Rico) throw to get him by a step. Fun to watch from left field. |
| Oct. 2, 2008 4Four4 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Vegas A Pace player congratulates the Double Nickels for winning and the entire thread castigates his team for being sandbaggers...BS. These guys are class acts - all of them. They have 2 or 3 guys that can hit it out with any regularity just like any other TripleA team does. They're well coached, they play & PRACTICE alot together, they're guys who play in rec leagues with and against each other, The Major thing that they have is character. I watched the Double Nics, Pace, Hawaii, and LVHeat all play AAA in Vegas. They were pretty much interchangeable with talent. Some teams just want it more! Congratulations to all for great play. | June 9, 2008 4Four4 | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Home Team in Elimination Brackets In a game where you must spot a team 5 runs (1 per first five ins), would it not be more fair to allow the higher seeded team a choice of visitor/home as well? |
| May 5, 2008 4Four4 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: HEADFIRST SLIDING Bones - Have seen many more guys hurt more seriously over-running bases than sliding in - especially when there is a play at the plate and not enough room between the scoring line and the backstop to slow down....chain links & poles don't give.....condition of the field and importance of the game provide the risk-reward rationale. |
