Discussion: ssusa bats

We played in a national qualifier for SSUSA in Phoenix where the Ultra II was allowed but the Freak wasn't even though it has the correct BPF and the SSUSA website states that all bats that meet the 1.20 BPF will be allowed. We were certainly confused.

Discussion: Looking for players

Some of the guys have played for Clovers in the Phoenix area. We are looking to start a new team. We would need to begin at a AA level, but want to travel and try to do two tournaments each month, one in the area and one as a travel tournament. If you are interested let me know. Email me at johnrowe@qwest.net.

I have also seen Todd's video. I am currently in the process of trying to learn the high leg. When I do it right, the velocity off the bat is markedly better. However, it is a difficult thing to learn to time.

Discussion: Looking for players

We are looking for players in the Phoenix, AZ area to play on a 50+ tournament team. We would play approximately twice a month, once locally and once out of town. Players need to be able to travel through the southwest. If you are interested, please send me an email at johnrowe@qwest.net.

Discussion: Bat confusion

I was under the impression that all 1.20 bpf bats were legal for SS-USA tournaments. We played in the tournament in Phoenix recently and were told that the Ultra II's were legal but the Miken Freak wasn't. One of the things we were looking forward to this year was a consistent bat list. Can anyone help me understand how the Ultra II is legal but not the Freak?

Discussion: DOCTORED BATS

Just to add an opinion. I find it amazing that at our age there are still players who are insecure enough to need to cheat and win at a game that will earn them another t-shirt. We recently played in a local tournament against a team that had altered a bat. We discovered it at the very end of the tournament. Unfortunately, the local director didn't have any idea what to do with them and so did nothing. However, we know and will watch for them at a big tournament and make a point of having the bats inspected. As far as Bigflyy's comments about using illegal Ultras and hitting up the middle, which I assume was meant as a joke, it was a foolsih statement and sounds exactly like the type of player I find difficult to understand. If you need to cheat to win a senior softball game, you certainly have bigger issues to deal with. I don't mind guys using the best, legal equipment available, and I pitch all the time. But if you cheat, I hope you are banned from the game. We certainly don't need you ruining the game we love.

Discussion: batting cages

JoeD Thanks for the info. Got the program outline. Useful stuff.
Has anyone else done this? There seem to be a ton of vendors and I would like to choose one that is reliable.
Thanks

Discussion: batting cages

I am going to put a batting cage in at my home. I have lots of room and live in Arizona. Is there anyone out there that has built a cage and can recommend a company for the netting or the machice. I am going to go with the Iron Mike machine but am looking for good retailers. Any experiences you can share?
