How long would a box drawn with chalk on a dry, dusty field last? Two innings?

I am sure it can happen, but I have pitched since 1975 and have never had a ball deflect off the rubber.

sad pup, are you deluded enough to think Seniors are young guys?

And where is the pride in feeling good about what others enable you to do?

Not only hotter but the sweet spot goes on forever.

Why do old guys need to do in their 50s and 60s what most could not in their 20s and 30, all due to someone else's R&D. Where is the pride in that?

Webbie, it is quite possible they manufacture them that way for guys to wear t-shirts under them, much like the Reds and many MLB teams do.

Clothing companies manufacture pants that are to be sagged and worn below the butt. That is NOT much of a fashion statement just because some company looking to make a buck might tell you it is.

Besides looking bush league, what is the point to sleeveless jerseys? The Rangers manage to play in Texas in August, and the Marlins play in Miami in July, with short sleeves and don't die of dehydration.

What will 70' bases do for the game? Allow the infielders to play deeper so they would then have an even longer throw that many of them struggle to effectively make even now?

So the only purpose for the 1-1 rule is to save time? A TERRIBLE reason!

I don't think there is an easy way to implement such an unnatural rule.

Webbie, I have used both as well, and have had both of them hit at me. I do see a difference, but I agree it is little.

If 15" is legal in seniors than yet another silly senior rule.

Why do seniors need this?

A 30 minute inning???? I believe you, but that shows much more about flaws in the senior games than a need for another silly rule.

mad dog, I tend to agree with you, but sounds like you might be amazed at the names I get called for doing anything beyond imitating a pitching machine. So I don't think all agree with how we view this.

The 'problem' with composite bats in general, and Ultras in particular, is not just how lively they are but that they have a sweet spot that seems to run the entire length of the barrel (only slight exaggeration there). It is very hard to mishit with an Ultra.

Cheating in baseball/softball is called 'gamesmanship'. Phantom tags, sign-stealing, 'in the neighborhood' on double plays, spitballs, in softball flat pitches or high pitches or quick pitches, selling a catch on a ball that was trapped, these are all I suppose by some definition 'cheating' but have been going on for decades.

This is not golf. They are all accepted, or at least understood and condoned. It is the umpires' job to catch those.

Scott, the other downside I learned a few years back is we often saw the same teams over and over. Just not that many that seem to play travel. And usually each weekend had the same results. Just pretty repetitive and predictable, I guess, as long as you play all the time in the same part of the country with what seems to be the same competition.

Yea, no fence yet, too busy paying for multiple colleges.

Happy holidays to you too.

We played this year in Lansing, Indianapolis, and Columbus, a mixture of SPA and SSUSA.

No, we have not moved in 23 years.

Discussion: hr hitting

To say "Look at the bottom of the ball not the middle. Guaranteed to hit it in the air" is a bit short-sighted. That is fine if you have the power to consistently hit it out. If not, and that is most players, you are just hitting most likely catchable fly balls.

So for true power hitters that might be good advice, but for the typical guy it will do him little good.

Omar, I played in three tournaments this past season. Nice try, though (well, not really).

And maybe I have missed something, but who exactly might you be?

Putting the ball on a Tee would speed up the game too. :(

Is that what it has come down to?

Is that really true? If so, very sad. Would sound like they really don't want to hear the opinions of their paying customers.

Guys, I understand all that. But ultimately it is the pitcher's choice.

And no, I don't know that lawyers will get involved. Each and every pitcher, unless they are complete morons and that should be no excuse, understand what equipment is being used and the risk they are taking. With the possible exception of illegal equipment being used, no lawsuit will hold up over an injury in the normal course of the game using legal and approved equipment. NONE, in my opinion.

If SSUSA wants to 'protect' anything but there pocketbooks, they will scale back to equipment that everyone else but Seniors use. And if they don't, then anything else is lip service.

And yes E4, good pitchers will use a couple of pitches to set batters up. But a good pitcher will do it at a pace that keeps the game moving in a natural manner, not with contrived rules.

You guys want quicker games and more innings, get and and off the field and stop delaying the game with ridiculous courtesy runners that are only a sham to get a faster guy on the bases, NOT because the current runner is hurt. Biggest sham in softball.
