It is like our jury system it has flaws all over the place yet there isn't a better system. Here's hoping Mayor Bloomberg jumps into the contest. I kind of like Chris Christie also, DC could use some tough New Jersey love. The funny thing about the GOP their VP candidates in my opinion far outweigh the 4 presidential candidates they are tossing at us. The Indiana Gov is intriguing, Rubio is interesting. We ended up with the wrong Bush, I really like Jeb. |

If the subject is kids and how they're raised, it seems our culture has exactly one story to tell. Anyone who reads newspapers, magazines or blogs knows how it goes: Parents today either can't or won't set limits for their children. Instead of disciplining them, they hover and coddle and bend over backward to protect their self-esteem. The result is that we're raising a generation of undisciplined narcissists who expect everything to go their way, and it won't be pretty when their sense of entitlement crashes into the unforgiving real world. Read 10 articles or books on this topic and you'll find yourself wondering whether one person wrote all of them, so uniform is the rhetoric. The central premise is that the problem's dimensions are unprecedented: What's happening now contrasts sharply with the days when parents weren't afraid to hold kids to high standards or allow them to experience failure. That's why this generation is so self-centered. Take it from journalist Peter Wyden, the cover of whose book depicts a child lounging on a divan eating grapes while Mom fans him and Dad shades him from the sun: It has become "tougher and tougher to say 'no' [to children] and make it stick," he insists. Or listen to the lament of a parent who blames child development experts for the fact that her kids now seem to believe that "they have priority over everything and everybody." Or consider a pointed polemic in the Atlantic. Sure, the author concedes, kids have always been pleasure-seekers, but longtime teachers report that what we're now witnessing "is different from anything we have ever seen in the young before." Forget about traditional values: Things come so easily to today's entitled children that they fail to develop any self-discipline. Powerful stuff. Except that those three indictments were published in 1962, 1944 and 1911, respectively. |

America in decline a favorite point of discussion since I've researched it back to the 50's. First it was Sputnik and we were toast, then it was the Vietnam war and the oil shock of the early 70's, Soviet agression, 9/11, now the great recession. A favorite topic of pundits everywhere. Don't bet against America, my two cents. We do one thing extremely well every four years we get to toss out the most powerful man in the world proving to everyone that no is irreplaceable and guarenteeing a fresh set of eyes. Don't underestimate the young adults of today. |

| Jan. 18, 2012 Lecak | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Sledge Hammer Gary H. almost 3 years ago I went in for MRI on my bac the doctor wanted to know if I had been in a car accident. I had not been he started me on pain mess and muscle relaxers. I threw them out after a few days. At that point I was told surgery was the only option. We talked a bit and he said he wanted to send me to a rehab clinic for core strengthening. The program was based on Pilates. I completed the 6 week rehab and decided I was feeling so good I started on my own 3 times a week. After 6 months I got another MRI and was told I was no longer a candidate for surgery. I've gone religiously for 3 years and have seen for me great results, I've gotten leaner, my flexibility and balance have greatly improved and what used to take 2-3 days to recoup after a tournament basically a goods nights sleep. The funny part was about 15 months ago I snapped a ligament in my back behind the vertebrae it won't heel but the Pilates built enough core muscle that I was down for about 3 weeks and resumed my normal routines. I've been introduced to some really interesting training I've been in sessions with MMA fighters, professional dancers, professional hockey players and body builders. Another benefit I've gotten is I was starting to develop hip problems the kind where the pain radiates through the groin and that has completely disappeared. Good luck I agree 100% everything revolves around the core. |

I had a very good friend years ago who did some nice things athletically and he put it in the most eloquent terms I could understand why athletes thank God. In his words they are keenly aware that they are physically gifted and there is no explanation for some of the gifts. As he stated why was I born with certain gifts and no one else he knew was. He thanked God because no other explanation made sense to him. Made perfect sense to me, even more so after all these years. Some things can't be taught, height, body structure, speed, I watched Gronkowski he has hands like two garbage can lids with fingers what an advantage according to my friend most athlets are keenly aware they are fortunate. |

Last year in Seattle the Seahawks surprised the Saints the Seahawks became the darlings of football. They go into Chicago as a double digit underdog and everyone got amnesia and suddenly the Bears were going to be in real trouble. The Bears pummeled them. A clear analogy here playing a home game against an opponent ripe for the taking and then taking that same flawed team Denver on the road into Foxboro has Patriots blowout written all over it. I enjoy the Tebow story but the numbers suggest a Patriots romp. |

Tried Mesquite in either 2009 or 2010 and that was cancelled, heard through the grapevine that LVSSA and SPA were hooking up we know how that ended. Reno had what 10-12 teams. |
| Dec. 22, 2011 Lecak | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: For the guys who still play with the kids....... tg69 I could be wrong on this but every young team I know plays the 5 man because they cannot or are severely limited with balls over the fence. I've never heard of a 5 man to protect the pitcher. Most of the kids I know are very adept at pounding the 5-6 and 3-4. The bats are shaved not for distance but for speed through the reduced infield hitting areas. |

You keep talking about the way it used to be, it doesn't exist anymore anywhere. They all have bastardized the rules some more than others. The kids have adapted by shaving the bats to hit through 5 man defenses, they take "dirty swings", you see swinging bunts, larger gloves. It's different everywhere. The tradeoff for the 3 outs, 2 bases, safety plates etc would probably be some of the rules I posted above. The genie is out of the bottle. |

One more thing if you did play with the kids, seriously played, you would run screaming back to the senior game because the kids game has been bastardized to the point of no return. One last thing real story played against some kids and got introduced to the swinging bunt. Fun to watch actually. Kid was hitting in the 3 hole. My team made a defensive switch to pinch in the 3B and SS to cut off the bunt, he hits a lazer past the pitcher as he's running down the 1B line he's yelling at the pitcher and IF to play straight up or he keeps ripping through the box. How much fun is that. |

Offensive ejection if you hit the ball over the fence yet you can still play defense when your slot comes to bat automatic out 2.) If you hit the ball over the fence it is a run for the other team. Hit a second two runs etc etc 3.) Runners only I think they are called rabbits or base burglars forget the term sorry 4.) Automatic out if you hit the ball over the fence 5.) Hit the ball within a circle painted around the pitcher umpires discretion you are out. 6.) Special bats for one association and special bats for the other 7.)
