Discussion: Gold and Silver Division

We have some SSUSA and SPA sanctioned tournaments that will have a gold and a silver division. If teams after playing their seeding games are placed in the gold or silver division, irregardless
of ratings, what is the purpose of having ratings?

Discussion: Mask or Pitcher Protection Screen

Mask or Screen, which one would provide better protection for a pitcher? We use them in our C-Division League in Austin, no problem with the screen, hit the screen, dead ball. We use a
screen at all of our practices, as an infielder it does not restrict or impede my ability to throw or catch the ball (there are other factors that come into play that will prevent that). It seems to me that it is a natural progression to go from mask to screen if we want to protect the pitcher.

Discussion: Managers/Players around the Texas Region, what do you think about the Sportsplex in Houston?

Our League San Antonio Senior Softball League had their annual banquet last night, good time had by all. I personally think SA would be a great location for the TX State Championship. We have two (2) facilities that would support the tournament, A four (4) field complex at Alva Jo Fisher would support the 65+, 70+, 75+, & 80+ teams (I know the fences are only 275'). The Kennedy Softball Complex, (4) fields, it would support the 40+, 50+, 55+, & 60+ teams. Probably would have to get the support from the Mayor's office since our Park and Rec folks don't seem to know that senior softball exists. Our senior games (softball event) are held at the Kennedy Softball Complex, it seems they have
a connection with Park and Rec, maybe SSUSA or THCC
should contact the senior game rep here in SA and figure out how to get some SSUSA sanctioned tournament here. Let's not about forget SPA, they could make an effort to host a sanctioned tournament here in SA.

Discussion: where are all the pitchers

Our pitcher(s) will be wearing a mask at TOC (I am assuming that a pitcher's mask will be required), this will be their first time wearing one. We have a couple of practices scheduled before TOC, hopefully they will make the adjustment to wearing a mask.

How many teams have that one special bat(shaved), and is only used when cheating will benefit the outcome of the game? Can a shaved bat be detected?

Discussion: APPLEBEES OFFERING free lunch to veterans on mon. 11/11 /13 veteran's day

Proud to be a Veteran, to all Veterans:
Etched In Stone
I cried when I saw them
and thought, “oh God, not you”;
then they told me you had died
in the jungles of Vietnam,
trying to save people,
and that was so like you.
I remember your deep compassion,
and how you use to dream
of wanting freedom for everyone
and a more peaceful world;
and how it became shattered
in a war no one wants to remember.
All that remains with me now
is your warm and gentle memory,
making it harder for me
to reach out to touch
the coldness of your name,
etched in stone.

Discussion: Layla Bryan

I only talked to Layla once or twice at Georgetown and Plano, but:

What seemed like eternity
Went by so quickly
The laughter, the tears.

She played the final out
On this field of her dreams
It was like yesterday
Or so it seema.

the game she loved
And played with a passion
Still beckons and gnaws.

Discussion: Fields

From Fields to Hotels, check the fine print, most hotels in Las Vegas charge a resort fee, it varies from hotel to hotel. The hotel we are staying tacks on another $12.99/day + taxes. The rate is still good since we are playing Monday-Thursday. It is one those charges that sneaks up on you when you get there.

Discussion: Texas State Championships - How were the fields and other Facilities?

Here is the quote from the SSUSA WEBSITE: "The Houston Sportsplex is a top-rate facility and the perfect place for this Lone Star State classic,” said Keith Parker, Senior Softball USA Texas director.

The Texas Championships is sponsored by the Sportsplex, Texas Half Century Club and Martin Midstream Partners LP.

This marks the first time that Houston has hosted the tournament, which has continued to grow every year and has blossomed into one of the premier senior softball tournaments in Texas.
Also, when will the results be posted?

Discussion: Texas State Championships - How were the fields and other Facilities?

The facility is old, some of the dugouts came out almost to the foul lines, overpriced food & beverages at the concession stands, $5 entry fee for fans, not all of the fields were upgraded. Kiest fields in Dallas are much better and overall a much better place to play the TX State Championship.

Discussion: Teams/Ratings-SSUSA

I did a review of the 65's AA & AAA rated teams, the breakdown was approx., forty (40) teams rated AA & ninety (90) teams rated AAA. If there was an equal split among the AA & AAA rated teams in the 65 division, my take that you would have more 65 AA teams that would play in major tournaments, e.g. Vegas World Championships, Reno, Winter World, Winter Nationals, & TOC qualifiers.

Discussion: Lower Back Pain Home Remedies

I have tried hot epsom salt baths, help some. I had steriod shcts in Sac Joints and Lower back, help some. I was not a big fan of Chiro's, but now I am a believer, go once or twice a month for treatment of the lower back and pelvic, and do the exercis he recommends and it works for me.
Capt
Note: Had a MRI, the results you are old and you have degenerative arthritis, but the Chiro treatments and exercises work for me.
