Discussion: Layla Bryan

I only talked to Layla once or twice at Georgetown and Plano, but:

What seemed like eternity
Went by so quickly
The laughter, the tears.

She played the final out
On this field of her dreams
It was like yesterday
Or so it seema.

the game she loved
And played with a passion
Still beckons and gnaws.

From Fields to Hotels, check the fine print, most hotels in Las Vegas charge a resort fee, it varies from hotel to hotel. The hotel we are staying tacks on another $12.99/day + taxes. The rate is still good since we are playing Monday-Thursday. It is one those charges that sneaks up on you when you get there.

Discussion: Texas State Championships - How were the fields and other Facilities?

Here is the quote from the SSUSA WEBSITE: "The Houston Sportsplex is a top-rate facility and the perfect place for this Lone Star State classic,” said Keith Parker, Senior Softball USA Texas director.

The Texas Championships is sponsored by the Sportsplex, Texas Half Century Club and Martin Midstream Partners LP.

This marks the first time that Houston has hosted the tournament, which has continued to grow every year and has blossomed into one of the premier senior softball tournaments in Texas.
Also, when will the results be posted?

Discussion: Texas State Championships - How were the fields and other Facilities?

The facility is old, some of the dugouts came out almost to the foul lines, overpriced food & beverages at the concession stands, $5 entry fee for fans, not all of the fields were upgraded. Kiest fields in Dallas are much better and overall a much better place to play the TX State Championship.

Discussion: Teams/Ratings-SSUSA

I did a review of the 65's AA & AAA rated teams, the breakdown was approx., forty (40) teams rated AA & ninety (90) teams rated AAA. If there was an equal split among the AA & AAA rated teams in the 65 division, my take that you would have more 65 AA teams that would play in major tournaments, e.g. Vegas World Championships, Reno, Winter World, Winter Nationals, & TOC qualifiers.

Discussion: Lower Back Pain Home Remedies

I have tried hot epsom salt baths, help some. I had steriod shcts in Sac Joints and Lower back, help some. I was not a big fan of Chiro's, but now I am a believer, go once or twice a month for treatment of the lower back and pelvic, and do the exercis he recommends and it works for me.
Capt
Note: Had a MRI, the results you are old and you have degenerative arthritis, but the Chiro treatments and exercises work for me.

Discussion: IT IS A GOOD DAY

Band of Brothers Day

You may have served in combat or while preserving peace.
You may have retired out or you may have served for a short time. You may have been a draftee or a volunteer.
You may have served in the Corps, Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard or the Merchant Marines, but you served.
You did your job honorably and for that i am proud to call you ‘Brother’.

You may have served during WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Nicaragua, Persian Gulf, Iraq or Afghanistan, but you served, you did not run.You have earned your DD 214 with those words "Honorably Discharged", two of the most noble words in the world.Again I am proud to know each and every one of you.

Today is Band of Brothers' Day; send this to all your brothers, fathers, sons and fellow veterans you know.
Happy Band of Brothers' Day!

To the cool men that have touched my life:
Here's to you!!

Discussion: Texas State Championship-2013

We have a softball complex (Kennedy) in San Antonio that has four (4) fields with 300' fences, The senior games for softball are scheduled to be played there on April 6th & 7th, I would think in the future one of the assocation (SPA or SSUSA) would book it for a qualifier.
Softball complex (For rental, contact SAASA at 210-590-0350).
Note: If four (4) fields are not enough, Alvo Jo Fisher could accomdate the 65's, 70's, & 75's.

Discussion: Reclassifying Teams

In 2012, our teamn played in the mens 60's AAA division, in the two (2)tournaments that we played, in which SSUSA posted scores, we were 2-4 in bracket games (I don't consider the seed games as an indicator of a team's strength or weakness). Our run differntial was +9 in our two (2) wins and a -34 runs in our four (4) losses, our appeal was denied to be rated as a AA team. We lost seven (7) players (starters) from our 2012 team. We wiil have a team in 2013 but we will not be as strong as we were in 2012. I believe that the formula that SSUSA is currently is using to rate teams needs to be revised to reflect a team's true level of competiveness, we would like to be able to compete when we go to a major tournament.
