Discussion: 250 Wrist Snaps daily, bring 80yr. Rudy, 340' Power. Amazing. SwingMakeover#33

Hey bogie, U R working with SENIOR EARS here, give us a break (LOL).

I do like your teaching videos, they really help me keep my attention on the mechanics of the swing to get the most from it and as a side effect to keep my eyes on the ball (no head pull).

Thanks,
C

LeeLee51, you should just order one from Alan today.
If U can get a bat that will last 2000 solid swings and
hit with the traditional Miken, just do it.

I just hit a 52/300 ball close to 400' (with a 15 mph wind) using an Ultra II that is well broken in and with not much life left. I would guess the New Miken Will just be getting
started at the number of swings this current bat has!!

Discussion: Nitric Oxide

I just got an e-mail from someone saying they are an 'SSUSA" sponsor.
Saying Nitric Oxide will improve your softball performance.
I looked up some reviews. I have never heard of taking nitric oxide.

Looks like if you want it you can do a search and find 90 caps for ten or so dollars at your local pharmacy.

Question, has anyone tried to improve their softball performance using Nitric Oxide??????????

If SSUSA takes a local tournament and turn it into a 3 day 3 nite event How Many Will Attend? Are the one that are being concerns/complaints (from Staff) wanting to pay for an additional day and night of expenses.

I doubt I will attend. This is not negative as I do have reasons, I just will not be able to attend.

Discussion: LIGHTER BATS

manny 41 - this is a guess only..

When you swing a very lite bat the ball will overpower the bat, especially for seniors.

The young pro's are probably swinging END LOADED 26 and 27oz.
These bats will swing like a 30oz BALANCED.

I swing a short barrel 27 balanced and it is super close to the 30 balanced. The short barrel seems to make it like an end loaded to me.

Discussion: Pool games....???

I would not go and spend time and money if U went directly in bracket play.

It is fun to play teams form around country getting to know lots of players. In senior ball (20 yrs) have had very very few times a top player got hurt. That is good.

In young league there were lots of bad words and jesters aimed at other teams many times. In Senior Ball there are lots of times U will say Great Play to your opposition.

I think 90% of Senior Players are still just as competitive as we were at 25. What has changed is we do understand it is just a game and that real life is much more fun.

I hope you enjoy Senior Ball.

My tournament bat is 30oz balanced Black Centenarian.

I bought a 27oz 2014 Blue Short Barrel Centenarian for a backup bat. Not broke-in as of now. 25 or 30 hits on barrel. Feels like endloaded. Have hit fense a few times none over the fense.

Played tournament other weekend, in 5th game switched to my tournament 30oz and hit ball out of park.

Not sure but seem to swing 30oz balanced same speed as 27oz short barrel.

Discussion: One up Rule in the Open Inning!!!

Game tied going into top of open inning & HR's are tied at limit.

Visitors hit 1 HR and are now 1 run up and 1 HR up.
No more runs are scored.

Bottom of open inning.
Home team hits 1 HR to tie game, next batter hits the 1 up HR and wins game.

That is why 1 UP is not allowed in open inning. It is unfair.

Discussion: USSSA STYLE PITCHING IN SENIOR SOFTBALL

UTrip pitching is diff when it is 12 inches high at front of plate and just hits 6 inches back of plate for a strike. + UT start 1-1.

However with the NOT SPECIAL BATS I can hit the fence when a fast pitch is just a little high. One of the dangers if this was used in Seniors is lots of shots goes back middle.

The only thing I do not like about the UTrip pitch is I get to eager seeing the flat pitch coming in verses the 12-14 foot coming in to the back edge of the plate in senior ball.

Discussion: What is or what makes a player a major plus player?

This is an attempt to put another twist on why there may not be as many M/M+ players.

Lots of guys are not comfortable trying to catch a wild bouncing ball hit by a major/major+ player. Very few seniors
can handle a M/M+ players strikes to the ground or line drive up to head high.

I try to hit ball in the air as lots of the players in 2 leagues I play in are not tournament players. I have hit some infielders and that is not pleasant.

Discussion: Major plus problem

Those not willing to compete at the next level breakup and help build other teams.

Guess if a team does not want to move up they can intentionally lose finishing 4th to 7th in the National Tournaments so they will not get moved up. (sorta dumb I think)

What other methods do teams and guys use to avoid playing Major or Major Plus ?????????

Not to mention big gardens.

Now we will enjoy what your soybeans provide.

Enjoy it as time goes fast. I now feel good when mowing my yard.

Discussion: Senior bats vs. 52/300 ball

One of the Dallas area day league just selected the 52/300.
Feels like a mush ball.
After 2 games have only seen 1 guy hit a decent line drive.
Mixture of older ASA and Senior bats.

Reason it was selected was rumor that the 44/375 would destroy the New Bats that works better with the 52/300 balls ??????

Discussion: BP Bat?????

My 30oz balanced Combat Centenarian is starting its 4th year.
I use it some in BP, most will use old alum bats.
Out of caution I bought a 2014 Short Barrel Combat Cent for $89 as a backup, may use it as a BP bat just to see how it does.
As a point of interest is the 2014 Centenarian Short barrel bat good or bad or just ok????

Discussion: Balls 52/300

Bob, the bat was not named in the league e-mail.
I will try to find out. Here is what was said:

NOTE:
I have already received one major request to revisit the balls for use in 2015. The request was accompanied by a statement from that team that they had experienced a crack in a brand new 2014 approved ASA bat, and when the owner went back to the manufacturer to seek compensation, he was denied because the bat was tested using the new .52/300 ball and we had used the old .44/375 ball in league play last year.

Discussion: Balls 52/300

Mr MadDog,
our day league may switch to 52/300 because someone was hitting/testing a 2014 bat and it cracked.
The guy sent it back and was not replaced because he used a 44/375 ball our current league ball.

What 52/300 brand do you use in your league?
