| Oct. 24, 2012 crusher | Topic: Bats Discussion: Senior bat care and durability If you hit a ball 230feet do whatever you want with a bat, hit in cold weather, hot weather, etc.... you will not harm your composit bat. It will last you 10 years. This is a lot of people. I see some bats that are weathered from the sun, not the hitting. NOW, if you can hit a low linedrive to the fence or crush one over the fence, then, you need to take care in breaking the batin, YOU want a long lived bat... No wet balls, Rotate bat. Very little batting practice. Do not hit close to the end of the bat. Use in tournaments only. Even then if you hit 3 out of 10 out of the park you may destroy your bat. My 30oz black centenarian has 107 swings on it. About 45 swings on sweet part. Is broken in and will launch ball out of 300ft park against light breeze. NO spider webbing. 1. Always rotate bat, wrote 1-6 on bat to make sure I rotated bat. 2 types of marks on bat 1. Ball skin ripped off ball on bat & 2. Where a dumbass bounced the bat against the concrete or something in dougout putting up the bat while I am going to touch 1st base or running bases. Have a good winter. |
| Oct. 20, 2012 crusher | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: 70 AAA Results in LV What I would like to see is a list of 70AAA (and others) results. Like who finished 1st thru last. I would think an organization like SSUSA would have the ability to post this. SPA did. Guess Mustang OK is more advanced than California. By next year when SSUSA holds their National Championship they can get some help from the techies in the Valley. |

| Oct. 16, 2012 crusher | Topic: Bats Discussion: Combat Twilight Mario '' I played league tonight with a 25 to 30 mph wind coming in from left field tonight.l..... On first time at bat I sorta let the wind get the advantage of me. ON SECOND time Just said screw you and hit a line drive that hit the fence in left center center (so close to center field) that hit the fence............. I am 70 years old, stay in shape, work out big time so I can play softball. My Bat is a 30oz balanced Combat Centenarian. Like I have said befor, IT remindes me of 10 or so years ago when the UltraII was first legal I used a 30oz balanced and it was great. Then we had a 47/525 ball. Now it is a 40 something. This Combat Centenerian is awsome, now if the Ambush is a take off of this bat with an improvement ____ Hey I have to wonder is it actually legal??? Who made it legal?? The Sellers?? Softball is great, this was the last night of our league in Dallas. SO I have to wait until March or April of next year befor I can plan again. IT IS GONA BE A LONG WINTER>>>>> Cursher JAMES Have a good off season.... |
| Oct. 16, 2012 crusher | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: AAA Home Runs Hey jrd231 , to comfort your 4 major players so they do not feel bad, make them use alum or wood bats. When I played AA any ball out of the park was an out, you now have it so good. |
| Oct. 16, 2012 crusher | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: The way softball was played back when: When I first heard about the MAT being used in California... My first thaught was WHEN WILL IT GET TO OKLAHOMA????? Takes some judgment away from someone who at times did not make correct calls for any number of reasons. Like the double 1st base. Saves feet getting steped on and springing an ankle. Like 2nd homeplate. REALLY REALLY prevents lots of injuries and sometimes fights. You can still slide at 2 & 3. I really did like the OPEN play in young ball. We were always limited to 3 hr's then outs in young ball most of the time. In spring however it was completely open. |
| Oct. 16, 2012 crusher | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: AAA Home Runs Webbie -- Thanks for letting me know your team hit 5-7 HR's in Major+ I like seeing hr's.Wish I could have seen some of your games. It was difficult to put one out of the park at Dalton. The conditions seemed ok. |
| Oct. 15, 2012 crusher | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: AAA Home Runs GUYS, 6 hr's and 9 hr's are the way to move teams up on the spotl. What do you not understand??? Do you not have any sense??? Every now and then someone will hit an HR. That is OK. 18 HR's are not reality.. Unless you are at least M+. Get Real. CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCc |
| Oct. 15, 2012 crusher | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: AAA Home Runs Question, I have not seen teams that hit HR HR HR, etc Now Fabe won the championship in the bracket that had a team that hit 18 HR's..... FABE said he did not see that team. I think that team is madeup figmate of your imagination. I played in the SPA Nationals in Dalton Ga with 50's, 60's and my bracket 70's and I only saw 1 ball hit out of the park for a HOMERUN............ The guy that hit it was 70 years old. Where were the 50's that hit HR HR HR HR like this thread talks about????? I think it is a bunch of BS BS BS BS... HEY Fabe, back in the 90's a bunch of your Islanders hosted my old team Beeline from Tulsa in your homes to come over and play some softball, .. They were great people and what that did for our team can not be covered with words. James |
| Oct. 15, 2012 crusher | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: AAA Home Runs When a AA team hits 6+ homeruns in a game they should be moved to AAA for at least 2 years. When a AAA hits 9+ homeruns in a game they should be moved up to MAJOR on the spot...... That will teach them to do that. |
| Oct. 12, 2012 crusher | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: AAA Home Runs BS The "B" means BULL hope U are smart enough to guess the S Any team that can hit 18 HR's in a game is not at the low level of AAA. I have played with and against the guys on the SPA list of IMPACT PLAYERS.... Normal guys do not just all gell and start banging HR's... again BS |
| Oct. 11, 2012 crusher | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: AAA Home Runs I can not believe there is ANY AAA team in the WORLD that have enough guys that KNOW HOW to hit a ball over the fence 18 times in a game. Even when you have the power and knowledge few people can hit a ball out of the park on a high percentage basis. Oh Well, a heck of a AAA team. |
| Oct. 8, 2012 crusher | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: 70 AAA Rusults Has SSUSA posted the results anywhere? A Link?? |
| Oct. 6, 2012 crusher | Topic: Bats Discussion: Combat Ambush vs Combat Twilight The Centenarian is black. This bat remindes me of using a 30oz MikenII about 10 years ago. However then we used a 47/525 ball that would really fly. |
| Oct. 5, 2012 crusher | Topic: Bats Discussion: Combat Ambush vs Combat Twilight The Combat Centenarian will also serve you well. 30oz balanced. Swings speed like a 27oz. Strikes ball like a 30oz. Balls hit 3 inches from end are hot. Will launch balls. Does not make a cracking sound when ball goes yard. If this last 700 or 800 swings should be good for 5 years. I do not have any idea how a 28oz performs, someone else can give that report. Have a good winter, C |
| Sept. 28, 2012 crusher | Topic: Bats Discussion: Combat Twilight End Of Barrel - I think that is the nature of a Combat. I have hit my Centenarian near the end of the bat thinking it will only go 225 or so and it short hops the fence. The Combat Company seems to have built a very unique bat. Guess the Ambush uses the Centenarian barrel also based on what I read on here. C |
| Sept. 25, 2012 crusher | Topic: Bats Discussion: Miken U II vs Combat Ambush SWING - that was the good days, then when the 97 Demarini came out, WOW. Wish the bat/ball combo was as hot today. And what I do not miss is a new single aluminum bat was that it may only last 1 or 2 innings, especially if your buddies used it. Sometimes only one side would bend so you could use the other side of the bat. They cost $90 to $120 which is about like $200 today. Overall I think the composits last longer for the average player. |
| Sept. 16, 2012 crusher | Topic: Bats Discussion: Bat Swing MPH Bruce, Yes was looking fwd to talking with you in Dalton. I swing a balanced 30oz bat. It swings easier than my 26oz EL Demarini Classic. Guess like in golf a smooth direct swing produces more results. James |
| Sept. 16, 2012 crusher | Topic: Bats Discussion: Bat Swing MPH Swing, thanks for response, I am just amazed to think of 95mph bat speed, never really thaught about the speed before until seeing posts on this board. A golf driver is so easy to swing and a bat seems so much different to only be 10mph less for lots of people. Again thanks, James |
