Discussion: Worlds Format for 50AAA

This is just too many teams to handle in the way-too-entrenched format used again this year. Most teams travel to play 5-6 games over 2 days while a few are put thru a grinder of moving around, playing early and late, etc. The right way to run a tourney this size over 3 days is an expanded pool play with pool winners moving on to an elimination bracket Sunday. This would reduce chaos and balance out participation while still insuring that the best teams have their shot at the title. It's kinda impressive to see a schedule put together the way it is, but it is misguided and needs to be more enjoyable for the participants.

Discussion: SSUSA STAFF-Please change a dumb rule

Changing the rule would be OK, but if you're going to change it, don't just add an orange bag at third or make it OK to stand on them. You aren't any further away or safer just for being in foul ground (unless your hitters always hit fair balls). Go with the rule that you can stand anywhere in foul ground but must then hit the base after contact before advancing.

Discussion: PHOENIX AREA 50+ TEAMS?

I'm interested in creating a new 50s team in Phoenix to play Jan 24-25 at Papago and go from there. I have 6-7 players but would need another 5-6 to make it go. Anyone interested can contact me at hagensn@aol.com.
