Was this Carl from Top Gun??

I'm very sorry to hear of his passing, but, like James, he went out doing what he loved!

Doug Skaggs with MSA is hosting 40+ & 50+ tourneys in Southern California. He runs a good tournament and has had good showings thus far. He does everything via SSUSA rules and allows all senior bats unless the park doesn't allow them. He and I have worked together on the rules and he has has great success.

You can call him at 619-303-4828 or e-mail: MSA.softball@cox.net to get on his mailing list.

Discussion: RENO FORMAT

The Wood said it best. How many times have I traveled 500+ miles to take a chance on having good luck in a 2nQ tourney that had 40-50 teams in our bracket? More than I care to remember.

You are guaranteed 5 games...no one else does that.

Go have a good time in Reno...spend some money....bring you "A" game to the field...that's how you get to the championship!

We're hosting another Men's 40+ at The Yard.

4 Games Guaranteed, SSUSA Rules, all SSUSA approved bats allowed. $325.

We had 10 teams at the last tourney. It was well received.

This will be a great warmup for Reno, NV.

Discussion: Craig Gahring, Another good friend lost

I saw Craig on Saturday at The Yard. We were cuttin' up as usual. he was anxious to get back to playing. I've taken BP with Craig, spent alot of time with him away from the field. To say I'm heartbroken doesn't begin to explain my feelings. He was a great person and heaven has gained another great player.

Prayers to his wife and family.

Discussion: Kevin/Trumpball

KBL:

Only in 40+ play where the association allows it. Some(very few) associations will allow 40+ or 50+ guys to swing the senior bats when they're playing against the kids.

The reality is that there are alot of guys over 40 that swing much better and harder than the kids, so most of the associations won't even consider it.

Tell your son to get on a 40+ team. He can swing all of the senior bats he wants!

Take care!

Just mine. This has worked well in getting the 40+ division stronger. I'm anxious to see this 52/275 ball in play.

Discussion: Somebody needs to say it!

I see some points made...some I do not.

Out of curiosity, I counted the 50 Major+ teams...16 listed...3 on the west coast. I immediately know of 2 which are sponsored. If the 50 Major & Major+ divisions are mixed at some point, you will have more competition and regardless of your level, I can't see why you'd be satisfied with the same dance every tourney.

Whether I agree or not, I did appreciate reading your post.

Discussion: Explosion of interest in the 40 division by all Associations

Great post, Joe. True enough that the 40+ division is growing. I know I've made a number of calls and tryed to generate as much interest as possible.

With SSUSA offering 40+ divisions in most of their qualifiers, LVSSA coming aboard next year, and Redding Masters starting up in Northern California, NCSSA is going strong, WSL in SoCal offers some good 40+ competition, there's alot available for the 40+ crowd.

Anyone wanting more info can contact me at oldschoolmasters@yahoo.com

The 40+ division will be the new foundation of senior softball.
