| Feb. 29, 2012 FOFO | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: This Will Chase Players From The Game Not sure if this is fact or fiction, but I was told that as I played 50 Major last year, that if I move up to 55 I will be considered a Major+ player. I sure hope I heard wrong because this would be one of the most idiotic rule SSUSA has come up with and will most certainly eliminate a lot guys opportunity to play the game they love. It will for sure mean the 55 team I play on won't be playing SSUSA this year. It's total lunacy to think that moving up a division will improve my game that much. Each player should be evaluated on his own ability not the classification of the team he played on last season. Say it ain't so SSUSA, Say it ain't so............ |
| Feb. 26, 2012 FOFO | Topic: Bats Discussion: New Bat Advice One of the guys I am playing with this weekend got a new Centurion and 10 swings into BP the end cap went flying off. Seems like Combat STILL hasn't solved this problem although by know you would certainly think they should have. |
| Jan. 17, 2012 FOFO | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Softball Gloves-Any Good Ones? I can add one more good reason to buy the American Made Nokona. I've had mine for close to 15 years give or take. It was top of the line and cost around $180.00 when I bought it. The outside was still in great shape but the inside had rotted in places and the thumb and straps for the little finger had broken off. I called Nokona, they issued me an RMA to send it back for repair. They restrung the entire glove and replaced the entire inside of the glove. For this they charged me $80.00. That's standing behind your product. Glove is like brand new. Mine is the pre-oiled model so it is a little heavy but I've never had to put a drop of oil on it. They also have light weight models. |

| Jan. 7, 2012 FOFO | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Moving on up My question would be the same as Leon's. How does any team take second in a tournament and get moved up and the team that wins does not. It makes no difference how many home runs they hit or anything else for that matter. The fact is they were beaten, took second, got moved up and the team that beat them did not. The whole thing smells a little fishy if you ask me. |
| Dec. 11, 2011 FOFO | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: courtesy runners Hey SlOBAL, bad typing on my part. I meant Major and Major+ Shouldn't get courtesy runners or they should be limited to one per inning my point being is that those divisions are supposed to the the elite player who should be able to run for himself unless injured. The lower divisions should be allowed more because as it has been pointed out we are all getting older and there are a lot of ailments that prevent guys from running even though they may want to. These divisions probably have more guys with medical conditions which prevent them from running. Only problem with the CR rule is that it is abused. I guess we will see what the rules committee comes up with. What we think really doesn't matter. Good discussion though |
| Dec. 11, 2011 FOFO | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: batters box I think it's important to have the batters box. For example, as a pitcher if the batters aren't kept within the box it makes it impossible to pitch inside, if the batter is allowed to stand wherever he wants. The rule in NSA is that the batter must start entirely within the box, this means not standing on a line and can end up wherever he wants as long as both feet are in contact with some part of the box. Not sure what it is for SSUSA. |
| Dec. 9, 2011 FOFO | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: courtesy runners I like the discussion and I can see both sides. As I said earlier the entire issue can be solved by allowing unlimited CR's in the AAA and AA, but as Major and Major+ players are supposed to be elite players, there should be some sort of limit in those divisions. As billcoo stated, being able to hit the ball over the fence does not make you an Elite player. This would also prevent teams from stacking a team with nothing but large slow guys who can do nothing BUT hit homeruns, which I fear we will see more of now that SSUSA has made the mistake of making any homerun over the limit a walk rather than an out. Why should we reward this action by letting the big slow guy who is in no way injured, that hits the homerun walk be replaced by a rabbit, which can definitely alter the outcome of a game? |
| Dec. 6, 2011 FOFO | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: courtesy runners I believe that CR's should be limited in Major and Major+ divisions, as these are supposed to be the elite players, and if you can't run, are you really an elite player? Let the lower divisions have as many as they want. |
| Nov. 23, 2011 FOFO | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: results In 50 Major I heard Worth 50's won and After Party LV took 2nd and I think Wast Bay was 3rd. |
| Nov. 15, 2011 FOFO | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: RANKING THE MEN IN THE 40S Pricer, I agree with your thoughts. I guess the thought of 40 year olds swinging Ultras isn't any more frightening than them swinging the cheater bats they currently swing. Heres to hoping we see no altered senior bats. As for Ranking them, If they only have a limited amount of teams, seems an upper and a lower division might work. |
| Nov. 13, 2011 FOFO | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: RANKING THE MEN IN THE 40S The reality is that the kids are using hotter bats than we are. The cheating going on in kids ball is ridiculous. |
| Nov. 13, 2011 FOFO | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: RANKING THE MEN IN THE 40S I like the idea of a 45 Jaw. I just think 40 is a little young for Senior status and bats, although having just pitched in a kids tournament, I think they may be swinging hotter bats than we are. The cheating going on is sad. As for the initial post I would agree that with that few teams upper and lower may be the way to go. |
| Nov. 13, 2011 FOFO | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: RANKING THE MEN IN THE 40S Little off topic but the thought of 40 year old guys swinging Senior Bats is pretty scary..... Don't quite see the need for the division. Most guys are still very competitive with the kids when they are in their 40's. |
| Nov. 12, 2011 FOFO | Topic: Players looking to join a team Discussion: Looking for a new 50's Major team I heard about what happened to After Party Brian. Hard to believe what some people are capable of. I guess you just never know about some people. Good luck hooking up with a new squad. |
| Nov. 12, 2011 FOFO | Topic: Associations Discussion: SPA VS SSUA This is a little off the topic of the thread, but NSA approved Senior Bats, and rumor has it the Nevada director may throw a couple tournaments. Not sure about any details, but rumor I heard is that Tournaments will be two day events. Be nice to have a few options for Senior ball. |
| Nov. 3, 2011 FOFO | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: TOC Entry Fees Another thing that bothers me about this tournament is that as it takes place in February very few teams that play are actually the same guys that qualified for the tournament in the first place. It's a fun tournament, but for my money Phoenix is far and away the better tournament. |
| Oct. 16, 2011 FOFO | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: courtesy runners I'm with you Mad Dog. I think what makes a good player should include the ability to run, play your position etc., not just hit the ball 400. In the 50 divisions you should limit CR's. My team uses them only for injury and that's the way the rule was designed to be used. |
| Oct. 16, 2011 FOFO | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: courtesy runners That would work as well Jaw. As stated above CR's should not have as big an impact on games as they do. With the new home run rules I fear teams will add more guys who are capable of only hitting HR's and not much else. It would be nice to see some of the run once in awhile. |
