Hey Dave,
I have to agree with you on this one. As I stated in a previous post there are only two playable fields at Shadow Rock. The two grass fields are in terrible condition. They no longer use them for any adult softball events, only girls fast pitch as nobody will play there. Not sure why Clark County won't maintain them but they don't.
Cheyenne was recently redone and the outfields are in good shape but the rest of the facility, bathrooms, bleachers etc. is still horrible.
No easy answer. Maybe break the tournament into two weekends or make sure Desert Breeze is available. It's a tough one for sure.

I would gladly pay $10.00/Day to play at BLD versus free at Shadow Rock. Sometimes you pay a little extra for quality. Just Saying............
Thanks Nick I'll try and whine a little less. Bottom line is I will play about anywhere. Just want to get on the field and compete and someday beat Dbax and the Bandits.

Nickname,
I believe there was no bitching in any of my posts. I have been fortunate to play at Shadow Rock in Kids tournaments as well as many SSUSA events as I am a Las Vegas resident. I only asked why a couple other venues were not being used and Staff answered my question.
Hey Dave, that's not a bad idea.

I meant turf Infields. Also BLD is a heck of a lot better than Shadow Rock..............................

Best things about BLD are the Turf Batters boxes and outfields and also the facility itself. Indoor seating, cold beer etc.

Thanks for the quick response. I guess with BLD as a reward we will go ahead and play Sunday.

Staff. We (55 Major) drew the short straw this year and got stuck at Shadow Rock. We all know the place is hard to get to, has only two usable fields and just generally is a poor venue. Why wouldn't you try and get Desert Breeze or even Doc Romeo an leave Shadow Rock off the rotation entirely?
I guess on a positive note biting the bullet now should mean we wont get stuck there in the Masters....................

Lumberjack, not a bad idea. I still would rather have limits on the number you can use. Makes a huge difference having a slow guy on base who can only go base to base versus a guy that goes 1st to 3rd and 2nd to home. I'm most definitely against having guys on a team that do nothing but run. That's just not how the game was meant to be played.

While I believe and have seen teams with guys that do nothing but courtesy run, I cannot imagine anyone wanting to do it. To much fun playing D and hitting.
As for me I would like to see a restriction of one runner per inning for the use of courtesy runners in the Major and Major Plus divisions in the 50 thru 60 and maybe 65 divisions. Seems to me if you are a Major or Major Plus player you should be able to run.

Stick,
There are occasional instances when a solo is not a negative, maybe with 2 outs, or late in a game and there are plenty left, or when it is the 5th run but the reality is it's usually a negative. What team doesn't want to have some HR's available for the open inning so guys can just free swing. I'd rather leave one on the table than use them all up early in the game.

I would like to see solo home runs that aren't the 5th run with two outs or game winners counted as outs in the book. Why reward selfish players with a hit when in fact their actions hurt the team.

I had one in 2001. I was back playing again in about three months although I would say it took a year to regain the strength in my right arm. If I recall correctly. For me it was a great decision.

I'm not in favor of a screen or a PPR for tournament play. For league play either is fine.
Oh and Mad Dog. I got smoked by a line drive not a ground ball so having my chin down didn't help. :-)

I took one off the side of the head in Sacramento while playing the Warriors. I was wearing the Rip-It mask. Problem was I flinched and turned my head leaving the unprotected side of my head exposed. Left a nice lump but fortunately wasn't hurt bad. If I ever pitch again, and my wife says I won't, Imwould go for a full helmet design such as the Worth. I have also heard good things about the LaCross helmet.

Discussion: SCREENS IN TOURNAMENTS

I got drilled in the melon while pitching in Western Nationals in Sacramento and I am against using screens in Tournaments. I think it takes away from the game, and as previously stated, pitchers want to play defense. If your going to use a screen you may as well just put a pitching machine out there. JMO
