Good luck to you and the guys next year---looking forward to seeing all of you in Menifee on i think the 10th. Thanks for all your help and support last year. I've found a home with the Marauders. I was told to get as dirty as i want--they love it.---lol----Play Hard and Stay Health--------Sonny

Discussion: HITTING THE MIDDLE

well this subject has been beat to death from all age groups and all divisons of senior softball. I as well as many other players/pitchers don't want TO TAKE WAY PART OF THE PLAYING FIELD AND AS FAR AS THE PLAYER BEING SUSPENDED IDEA ----IS A NOT A VERY THOUGHT THRU IDEA. WITH ALL DUE RESPECT. The halo rule is fine for leagues if thats what your league wants. I as many other pitchers enjoy the challenge of playing defense. The halo idea makes it a judgement call and a inning ending out is out of the question. This would effect the out come of many games ----while at the same time the pitcher is not really being protected at all. Their have been many many posts on this subject and IMO as well as several other pitchers in all age and divisons as a pitcher you know the chance you are taking everytime you release the ball----to eliminate judgement calls-----not taking away playing field and also protect the pitcher. The simpless way is for pitcher to wear protective gear it is his option and should remain his option. I'am speaking only as a 60 AAA/Major player only as that is all i have experienced----My only hope is after all the dust has settled their is still the word COMPETIVE BEFORE TOURNAMENT SENIOR SOFTBALL AND NOT JUST A FIELD OF LEAGUE PLAYERS WITH LEAGUE TYPE RULES. NO DISREPECT TO LEAGUE PLAYERS THEY HAVE THE FIRE TO ------SOME NEED THE HELP OF SCREENS AND SPECIAL RULES AND THATS GREAT--JUST KEEP IT IN LEAGUES---TC

Discussion: TOURNAMENT 1st PLACE AWARDS

Question-------Was just wondering if their are still and tournaments that still give out any softball related gear for the winners of a tournament? Not including rings and team trophy. Something like BAT BAGS---JACKETS WITH TEAM NAME---GLOVES---BATS ETC ETC. i GUESS SHIRTS ARE THE NORMAL THING. Camp pendleton gives hats to everybody which is nice. I know money is most likely a problem----but with all the equitment seniors buy and the few sponsers senior softball has i would think somebody could come up with something nice that related to softball...please i'am not complaining---just being able to play is reward enough----just a simple Question

Discussion: A different DOB structure

Taits is exactly right on what he said about ball hit thur the box---if a man on first base he was out to--UNBELIEVEABLE---But then again---picture this--you have a pitcher wearing bright yellow shorts with a big smiley face on the front looking at you when hitting----when you take a second look you see this big red tongue sticking out from side of smiley face. Looked to me smiley face was saying-----na na na cant hit me----lol lol----so this is why i think scot took so many shoots up the middle. Great to see u again scot. Glad to see u made it home ok after all the things that happened to u this weekend.
Now as far as closeing down the middle as a 60AAA pitcher I VOTE NO FOR MY DIVISiON-------pitchers wear the protective gear to protect yourself--its OPTIONAL and should remain that way I'am speaking on my division only.

LEFTIE---please dont try and make anything out of my post then what i posted. Forget the confused and i don't understand part-very poor choice of words. i understand completely. Last time i'll post on this simple subject----as a pitcher if i want to protect myself I''LL WEAR THE PROTECTIVE GEAR A PITCHER IS ALLOWED TO WEAR. i DON'T WANT TO TAKE ANY PART OF THE PLAYING FIELD AWAY FROM THE GAME. i ALSO DON'T WANT IT TO BE A JUDGEMENT CALL BY A UMPIRE----Read the hardball part again----it was a example of protective gear protecting a player---Had nothing to do with homeplate--firstbase or collison of players---as far as echoing players that hit up the middle----throw me meat and ill buzz the tower( as the wood so politily said) but with no intent on hitting or hurting anyone---throw outside ill go right side--throw inside i;ll pull the ball. I believe thats still all part of the game.

BOB AND LEFTY---help me out with this. I'am not real good with big words and i"am a little confused so bear with me. The subject is saftey for the pitcher. I don't understand why we would want to take away part of the battlefield and/or the equitment we now are allowed to use. As i posted earlier Pitcher has the right to wear Mask---shine guards--chest protector---helment--cup etc etc. Would this not be enough protection for any pitcher.IMO It would be more than enough. This would take away all judgement calls ---leave the complete field open for whereever u want to hit the ball. Screens may have their place and all the other pitcher saftey rules may have a place in league and rec. play i agree, Keep it simple and make pitcher play his position with THE OPTION to wear all the protection he/she might need.Does this make any scents or am i way off base?????????-----Iam thinking if a major League hardball catcher can get drilled by a 100mph fast ball from pitcher --and have very little effect ------That same equitment would protect are pitchers and leave the game to be played using every inch of space between the white lines. Simple is better IMO----What do u think?????

Hey Mike ---was fun finally putting a name and face togather--the closes i can come to results in 60aaa divison----Outlaws beat us and i believe that left Las Vegas 60s nd the Master Marauders BC in the winners Brackett and the F.V. Outlaws in the losers bracketts---Anyways i ask the same question in earlier post and recieved zero responds---Good luck to u and the scrap Iron bunch. Til we meet again

Discussion: On the DBO rule

JOHN BOB---VINNY LV---Theirs 1 guy from the 50's division and 1 guy from the 55 divison and IMO are great posts. All this add a screen--- make a bigger box ----DBO this ---DBO that ----move the mound back----ban this bat---ban this ball---hit me here ball in play---hit me there your out---umpires this ---umpires that---Heck SANTO'S post is another point taken. He forgot to add---tie a mattress around the pitcher with a couple arm holes and batters fire away. Now speaking as a 60s division player only. PITCHER HAS THE OPTION TO WEAR ---face mask--helmet---chest protector---cup---shin guards---steel toed shoes---whatever he wants to protect himself---That is TOTAL PROTECTION AND TAKES CARE OF THE PITCHER SAFETY--PERIOD----Keep the game of competitive tournament senior softball as it was meant to be. Two teams battling it out between the white lines using every inch of playing field to determine the winner. No disrepect meant to anybody-----this is just my opinion as a 60sAAA/major player----I know the risk everytime i step on the field and u should to. Pitcher protective gear should always remain OPTIONAL
