| June 30, 2009 Pieman | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: Crabtown Classic I played for Sweet Construction 55 and 50. I do have a couple of complaints. One, having to play AAA with Major teams in our double elimination. Even though we stunk in our first game of elimination we played a Major team and got knocked down into the losers bracket. We had a number 3 seeding and had to play the number 5 team. Never does 3 play 5. With 10 teams 8-9, 1 plays winner, 7-10, 2 plays winner, 4-5, 3-6. Lastly, I do not like the pitcher protection rule. I got nailed three times with having the batter called out once. I like to back up and believe if they are going to use the rule, I should be able to go back as far as I want within the plane of the pitchers rubber. I always say to the batter no problem it is part of the game when I get hit. Mike Santo |

We were all going to dirve the four hours Friday morning. I hope you new schedule does not disrupt our plans. Mike Santo Sweet Constuction 55 |
| Feb. 27, 2009 Pieman | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: I have a simple question for those who have pitched. I have been pitching for 30 years with 8 seasons in senior ball. Two of those seasons were Major+ and 5 seasons of 50 Major. Last year our 55 team was AAA. 4 years ago I broke my fibula when a ball was hit back at me. This year at the Atlantic Coast I got nailed in the neck. Both instances were my own fault becasue I did not get myself ready to field. I am against the pitcher protection rule mainly because it doesn't protect me. I back up and I am always out of the box. I say if you want to give me protection let me back up all the way to second base. I find the ball coming back at me just as hard as when I was younger. It takes alot of skill to pitch and field and I pride myself on the fact I can still do it. If it's too hot then get out of the kitchen. I would never want to pitch with a screen. I wore shin guards but stopped. Never wore a mask or chest protector. I am a proponent of the 5 man infield, that seems to deter the middle shots. Maybe add a extra defender might be the answer. By the way I do remember T4000 and there was a warning label printed on it. I also remember the DeBeer Rocket ball. Also, don't think enough credit is given to the pitcher when it comes to all tournament awards either. Almost everyone takes the pitcher for granted. Mike Santo Sweet Construction 50/55 |

| Jan. 12, 2009 Pieman | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Thanks for the T.O.C I just want to let Terry, Dave and all those who made the T.O.C. a memorable experience. I thought the whole venue from the All Star game, skills competition, mini games, and tournament were great. The shirts and certificates for the players were a nice touch along with the awards. Over all, I thought the umpires did a fine job and were willing to discuss questionable calls with each other. I understand the awards banquet was also exciting but I wouldn't know. I was in bed at the hotel for 15 hours with my ankle elevated so I could have a chance to play on Saturday. My wife Pam represented the team and myself and felt very welcome. | Jan. 12, 2009 Pieman | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: congrads I want to take the time to also congratulate the Over The Edge guys for a well deserved championship. Our pumpkin could not get home before midnight and that last inning was all your's. Mike Santo Sweet Construction 55 |
| Dec. 24, 2008 Pieman | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: HITTING THE MIDDLE As a pitcher for Sweet Consruction 55, I believe that it is the pitchers responcibility to field their position. I know that if I make the plays the batters will stop hitting the middle. I am also a proponent of the 5 man infield which will influence the batters comfort zone. I do not wear protective gear and feel that pitchers have that option and should use them. I am just slow to give in to protective gear such as a face mask. I am totally against a screen and an out if hit by a batted ball. Mike Santo |

| Nov. 21, 2008 Pieman | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: pitching defense I pitch for the Sweet Construction 55 team and like the idea of pitching as far back as possible. I like the idea of 2' side by side. I do not agree with the use of screens or pitcher being hit by batted ball rule. If you can't field don't pitch or use protective gear. I have had a broken fibula three years ago and was nailed in the neck this year at the Atlantic Coast Championships. Both instance were my fault because I had a let down in my concentration.
