Discussion: Its Unanimous - The Best Senior Softball Players Are in California and Florida

I would think that the climate has something to do with the fact there are so many teams from California and Florida.

Many move or retire to these states.

We do not have as many teams in the North East but some of us still like to play even in the snow.

We will travel to Florida since it is a 2-3 hour flight and take our chances in the Spring and Winter.

We will try to get in swings this Winter and will travel to the TOC and take our chances because we love to play.

The Answer. If you email me or give me a call I can fill your pitching position this Sunday. I am the pitcher for Sweet Construction and most likely I would know some of your players. If you played for Carl then obviously I know a lot of your players.

The Answer. I run Sweet Construction 55 Major and I am looking for an outfielder for next season. We paly a bunch of tournaments and are going to these years TOC.

You would not be eligible to play 55 TOC because you are not 55.

We must know each other because you had to have played for Chip or Billy Mac.

This has bothered me also. Seems as though the TOC should be played first, then the Winter Nationals and Winter Worlds.

It is possible for a team to win as AAA then move up to Major but still play the TOC as AAA.

If we did not win the Northeast Championships, TNT would have qualified 55 AAA and 55 Major since they won Winter Nationals as AAA were moved to Major for remainder of the 2009 season.

Teams do change and it is hard to change before the TOC.

Discussion: Looking for players

Sweet Construction 55 Mens Major team is looking for two outfielders and a second basemen for this years T.O.C.

We also need the same postions for the 2010 season.

Our team has been hit with three major injuries and at this time have only 9 for the T.O.C. At he end of the season we were playing with only 10. Even though Sweet Construction 55 could not get enough for this years Winter Nationals, 5 of us combined with Cryans and won the 50 AAA.

Each player pays their own way. We have a group of softball whores that just want to play.

This year we took seconds in the 2009 T.O.C, Atlantic Coast Championships, Eastern Championships, Northeast Championships, Virginia Beach Winter Nationals, and lost to Roberts at the U.S. Championship in Phoenix.

Only respond if you are from NJ, Delaware, NY or Pennsylvania and are eligible to play 55 and over.

If interested contact me, Mike Santo, pitcher/manager Sweet Construction 55 at: mspieman@comcast.net.

Cryans is going to be there with a combination of new 50's and some 55's.

I was under the impression if you won the Worlds you automaically move up to the next level.

Discussion: Torn Bicep Tendon

I have detached biceps tendons in both arms. In 1985 and was dicouraged from surgery and then in 1987 detached the other. Get it sewn back on. I played ball 7 weeks after surgery in 1987. Tried to have the 1985 injury repaired but atrophy set in and all they could do is pull it down and tie it into another tendon. Get it repaired right away.

Discussion: Crabtown Classic

I played for Sweet Construction 55 and 50. I do have a couple of complaints. One, having to play AAA with Major teams in our double elimination. Even though we stunk in our first game of elimination we played a Major team and got knocked down into the losers bracket.
We had a number 3 seeding and had to play the number 5 team. Never does 3 play 5. With 10 teams 8-9, 1 plays winner, 7-10, 2 plays winner, 4-5, 3-6.
Lastly, I do not like the pitcher protection rule. I got nailed three times with having the batter called out once. I like to back up and believe if they are going to use the rule, I should be able to go back as far as I want within the plane of the pitchers rubber. I always say to the batter no problem it is part of the game when I get hit.

Discussion: ATLANTIC COAST CHAMPIONSHIPS - Update

Dave,

After finding out the schedule and seeing we were not playing until 3:00 Friday afternoon, Pam cancelled our Thursday night rooms. We were all going to dirve the four hours Friday morning.

I hope you new schedule does not disrupt our plans.

Discussion: I have a simple question for those who have pitched.

I have been pitching for 30 years with 8 seasons in senior ball. Two of those seasons were Major+ and 5 seasons of 50 Major. Last year our 55 team was AAA.

4 years ago I broke my fibula when a ball was hit back at me. This year at the Atlantic Coast I got nailed in the neck.

Both instances were my own fault becasue I did not get myself ready to field.

I am against the pitcher protection rule mainly because it doesn't protect me. I back up and I am always out of the box.

I say if you want to give me protection let me back up all the way to second base.

I find the ball coming back at me just as hard as when I was younger. It takes alot of skill to pitch and field and I pride myself on the fact I can still do it. If it's too hot then get out of the kitchen.

I would never want to pitch with a screen. I wore shin guards but stopped. Never wore a mask or chest protector.

I am a proponent of the 5 man infield, that seems to deter the middle shots.
Maybe add a extra defender might be the answer.

By the way I do remember T4000 and there was a warning label printed on it. I also remember the DeBeer Rocket ball.

Also, don't think enough credit is given to the pitcher when it comes to all tournament awards either. Almost everyone takes the pitcher for granted.
