Topic: Rules of the game
Discussion: 2 Rules that are somewhat unclear

5.5(3) MERCY RULE FOR 50+ THRU 70+ MAJOR-PLUS (ONLY)
If a team is ahead by 15 or more runs at any time after five innings have
been completed, or four and one-half innings with the home team ahead,
the game shall be declared a complete regulation game.

AT ANY TIME would mean that the visitors ahead by 15 in the top of the 6th...... game over. MAKES NO SENSE.

5.4(2) INTERNATIONAL TIE-BREAKER RULE
Teams start each half-inning with a runner on second base. The runner is the
last batter of the previous inning whose turn at bat had been completed,
assuming a position on second base. No substitute or courtesy runner may
replace him until he has reached third base. EFFECT: If the last batter of the
previous inning cannot continue to play because of injury, illness, etc., he will
be declared out and the next previous batter will be the tie-breaker runner.

If the open inning ends in a tie..... are the extra innings open or subject to the 5/7 run limit? The rule states that the last inning of the game is open. Does that rule carry over to extra innings?

Discussion: Reebok Barrage update

Clean Up, as is often the case the last Barrage that was being tested was purchased by someone who wanted a bat that was game ready. Team 1 Sports will be playing for the 5th time this year on Saturday and we have been spending a lot of time hitting with our Mikens.

Discussion: Team 1 Sports Miken bat testing

Gary,
I am fortunate enough to get to swing a tremendous amount of bats, Senior, Utrip and ASA. We hit brand new bats and the 27 responded instantly compared to the 26 and 28 that we had. Based on that and 3 days before our world tournament I bought my own 27. I had the best tournament of my life with it. I have been out hitting 3 times since Worlds last weekend.
Over 325 swings of bp. Today we opened 3 new Miken Ultra 2 two piece Maxloads. A 26, 27 and 28. Of these three the 27 again outperformed the other two during the first 30-40 swings. The Miken's do not have the same feel as the Legit. They feel much stiffer, but the performance is just as good or better. Maybe its mental or maybe the 27 is just the right weight for my swing. I have always used heavier bats 28.5 -30 oz. I like how the mass helps, but with the Miken Ultra 2 two piece and the Worth Legit, the 27's seem to be reeeally good, really fast. Just my opinion.
Also keep in mind that 25 of my swings may equal 50 -100 of someone elses :-)

Discussion: Barrage or Legit

Lefty,
They are both in my top 3.
I have always been an end load swinger.....
but the Legit is so forgiving and so much easier
to swing if you have to hit that tough 15 footer :-)
There is only one down side to the Legit. You have
to buy epoxy for the knob when it comes off.
Either way you will not go wrong.

Discussion: NEW Miken Triad Blackout Senior bat !!!

DieselDan, he meant
The Reebok Barrage
The Miken Ultra2 two piece
The Combat Ambush
The Triad Blackout takes a long time break in and would not be a good choice for a base hitter.

To the resident Skeptic....
I'm 6'2" 265 lbs so its not all the result of technology. I am lucky that I get to take 300+ swings a week with a great variety of bats. Most are average at best. When I really like a bat.... its a big deal :-)

My current favorite senior bats..
Worth Legit - Miken 2 pc Maxload and Reebok Melee EL
USSSA Jeff Hall Legit
ASA Demarini J3 and Jeff Hall Legit

We put on the appropriate clothing and braved the weather to go out and hit with our new Miken team bats. You have to get your mind right and suck it up to go out and test bats sometimes. :-)
It was 85 and muggy. We put some swings on 26, 27 and 28 Ultra II Maxload 2 piece bats. All 3 bats are very good, but the 27.....
Oh my!!!! I would say that the 27 was game ready after just 5 swings. As much as I love my Legits, the 27 can definitely hang with them. The 26 and 28 are very good but will take more than 25 swings to be game ready. The 27 is a serious bomb dropper.
Alan "Team 1" Tanner did something I have never seen him do using the 27. He hit 3 balls in a row over 380'. Very impressive.

HJ, it has not broken yet! I put a lot of swings on this bat when it was new and took a few swings with it again the other day. It is much better now.

73 teams in the 50's for December. 69 teams in the 60+ categories for December. Somebody is doing something right.

Discussion: HR rule - why????

There is a reason that the monthly tournament series that I play in averages 60-70 teams. No home run limits, no runs per inning limits and teams are fairly seeded so that you play competitive games every month. And you know your schedule [4 games] a week before the tournament.

The 52 300 is the best option in cooler weather.
It is not nearly as affected by the temperature.

Popcorn ready. This will be fun. Now if you said Dirty and Centenarian were the same, ok. But the Ambush is very different than the other "one".

Get some 52-300 balls. Any other ball is going to break your bat faster. 40 cor balls might just be the worst thing for your senior bat. 44 cor balls in anything under 80 degrees don't do it any favors either.

Slight? Only if slight means 45 degrees while staring at the sky! LOL And yes you do need wind aid when you are swinging up! BTW Robo won the HR derby at the Major World Series because his technique allows him to hit it through the wind!

Gee Doc aka Roy Hobbs, not a word of mention for your insanely patient batting coach? I must say you had a good weekend as I "only" hit 7 homers. Then again I think I saw 6 pitches that would have been strikes in 4 games.

Discussion: NEW Miken Triad Blackout Senior bat !!!

Having put 75 of those 100 swings on the Triad Blackout, I'll say this. It will be tempting to swing it in our tournament tomorrow. While side by side it looks just like a Worth Legit, the sound is obviously different. As a person who is very picky about bats, I would not complain if I had to swing the Triad. It is a very nice bat.
