Discussion: I am breaking bats

Get some 52-300 balls. Any other ball is going to break your bat faster. 40 cor balls might just be the worst thing for your senior bat. 44 cor balls in anything under 80 degrees don't do it any favors either.

Slight? Only if slight means 45 degrees while staring at the sky! LOL And yes you do need wind aid when you are swinging up! BTW Robo won the HR derby at the Major World Series because his technique allows him to hit it through the wind!

Gee Doc aka Roy Hobbs, not a word of mention for your insanely patient batting coach? I must say you had a good weekend as I "only" hit 7 homers. Then again I think I saw 6 pitches that would have been strikes in 4 games.

Discussion: NEW Miken Triad Blackout Senior bat !!!

Having put 75 of those 100 swings on the Triad Blackout, I'll say this. It will be tempting to swing it in our tournament tomorrow. While side by side it looks just like a Worth Legit, the sound is obviously different. As a person who is very picky about bats, I would not complain if I had to swing the Triad. It is a very nice bat.

Discussion: Softball and hot weather!!

I agree Kevin. My sister lives in Tucson. I have seen them have 110 degrees and a 93 heat index while it was just the opposite here. 93 with a 110 heat index.
For all you guys whining about hitting a Stote in hot weather.... I hit the longest home run of my life in a Florida Half Century Tournament. 83 degrees, super muggy and a $39 a dozen 44-375 ASA Trump Stote with a synthetic cover.

Discussion: Softball and hot weather!!

In my experience the sick knuckle balls that take off in odd directions happen when a good ball is hit square on a soft [broken in] bat. I have 2 Yellow Combats that compression test under 100. They both hit the scariest knuckle balls. My USSSA bats tend to do the same just before they break. The micro cell balls are harder than 375 compression with a cushion cover. When squared up they flex the walls a lot and would be more prone to knuckle. As far as the Trump Stote being mush over 85 degrees, welcome to my life in South Florida for about 10 months of the year. LOL

Discussion: Solar Bat Warmes

It isn't the bat that is the problem under 60 degrees people!
It's the ball. The ball gets too hard as it gets colder and will damage your bat.

Discussion: New Worth Legit 2 Piece Senior 1st test results.....

I will agree with Alan that this bat is "Legit". I put about 60 swings on it and really liked it.
It is very forgiving especially for a balanced bat. And the fact that it has lasted 340 swings after some of the bombs that I have seen it hit is very good.

Totally jealous that you can get 600 swings out of a 29 oz Reebok. I have had 3 last between 175 and 350 and the current one just passed 200 and is getting scary hot.

I agree and the end load varies quite a lot the different size Reeboks. For instance the 29 swings lighter than the 28.

Rule 6.4(C) The pitcher must come to a full and complete stop with the ball in front of the body. The front of the body must face the batter. This position must be maintained at least one second before starting the pitch.

Discussion: Hitting THE DIRTY

I second what softball4b says about the blue flame. Using identical balls it will hit the mat 95%+. I use spikes to hold all three corners down and it is remarkably consistent. I also put a 2x4 across the front with spikes through it to get a little extra heighth. It really allows you to get into a groove. Here it is in action with a low arc...

I had one that lasted over 800.
My last Reebok lasted 160.
The Ambush is extremely durable for a senior bat.

Discussion: New Senior bat coming out!

SFTF, This is no ordinary bat. You just can't waltz out to your local WalMart and pick one up. No siree. You have to earn the right to borrow one. First you submit a 5000 word essay on why technology has ruined life as we know it. Then if you are found at least somewhat worthy you will be placed on a list. A hand written list [on ancient Egyptian papyrus]. When your number comes up a short yellow bus will arrive at your house to take you to an undisclosed location. Upon arriving [if you are observant] you will notice the "Get off my lawn" sign. Once inside you will be required to listen to that days lecture. It will eerily remind you of a Joe Biden speech sans teleprompter. If you survive this ordeal and I mean if, you will then be graced with your choice of either bat. The slightly off balance hot air model. Or, the BE loaded Bovine Excrement model. The bat will be yours to use for the period of one game provided you sign a waiver. The waiver states that if by some miracle of God you get a hit that you will not under any circumstances ask for a courtesy runner. After the game the driver of the short yellow bus will retrieve the bat and disappear into thin air. That is when you will wake up from the nightmare, drenched in sweat and with an overwhelming desire to quit softball and become a keyboard hero instead.

Discussion: What does it take?

Mike it is so hard to say. I have had 3 Reeboks in the past year. The first one lasted about 375 swings and the second one 260. The one I have now has a 1/2" crack at just 160 swings. My two MM Gears lasted 600 swings each. But, I had a Supermax Psycho that after 1000 swings rivaled my senior bats and it lasted 800 more swings before breaking. I have one of the new Combat Ambush bats in my bag and it is still going at 600 swings. So, I guess if I had to put a number on it, 600 for me is a pretty durable bat. I actually broke two USSSA 454's in just 400 swings each. So I guess you could say I am pretty hard on bats. Mind you 600 swings for me would be double that or more for most.
