Discussion: Looking for shortstop for Reno and rest of 2014 and maybe beyond

Our shortstop will be undergoing shoulder rehab and may not be able to play after Vegas and the rest of 2014. Our team is a very good AA team and has won three tournaments since the founding of it four years ago. We have come within several outs of winning three more. We have several runnerups as well. We are members of the best organization in the world, Scrap Iron Softball Club. You can be rated AAA by SSUSA. If you have a great attitude, a total team player, have excellent skills as a shortstop, and can hit for average, please contact DuWayne at 303-437-5340. If you work out, and lik our team, (you will)then we can talk about the future. My e-mail is, d69zcam@comcast.net

We are a very good 65 AA team from Colorado. Our shortstop will be rehabing an injury and we are in need of a good hitting (age 65 in calendar year 2014)and good fielding shortstop. You can be AAA rated. Your state must touch Colorado for you to be elgibile. If you are 65-69, please e-mail me at d69zcam@comcast.net or call me at, 303-437-5340.

Discussion: ratings

If you are a AAA team, you can only have 3 major players on your team.
If you are AA, you can only have 3 AAA players on your team. That's how the system works. They can also move you up based on your play. We are a AA rated team. Three teams we played in the Las Vegas World Masters, Sept.-Oct in our bracket were all moved up to AAA. One team won Vegas of the three. Winning the L-Vegas World Masters is an automatic move up to the next level from what you are playing. Also, I think you meant you finished 2nd in the Las Vegas World Masters, not the Tournament of Champions as indicated. I believe if you are a major rated team, you can only have 3 major + players on your team. If I am wrong about this information, someone correct me.

Sorry about that Steve 65. What is different about the Indiana Legends, vs. Indiana Jobs? I think it was Indiana Jobs, or I may have been wrong, that we played in Vegas, excellent team, wished we had gone to Florida and played. As far as SSUSA, they do an awesome job in putting on the T.O.C. I have directed smaller tournaments, and the magnitude of the workload is unbelieveable! My hat is off to SSUSA. Keep up the great work!

Minnesota Masters 65's won the major division this year at the T.O.C. My relatives told me it was like -10 to a low of -26 a lot of days in Dec. I believe Ohio won the AAA 60's division. Indiana Jobs won the 65's AA division. That is only a few examples of cold weather states winning the T.O.C. I attended a few years back and had a blast playing and participating in the events leading up to the games themselves. I feel blessed everytime I step on the field that I have the good health to compete. SSUSA does a great job in making this event a positive experience. I believe there is a lot of creedence as well in changing the dates from Feb. to a closer date after Vegas Worlds because of roster changes, players leaving for other teams, etc.

Paul will do a great job for any team that picks him up. He is a good pitcher, and hits the ball with authority to all fields. He has a lot of experience.

Discussion: Congratualations to New Mexico Dynamite

I personally want to congratulate the New Mexico Dynamite for winning Phoenix. We had an awesome two games with them. We won the first one, and the Dynamite beat us by one in bracket play. It was an awesome game and I am happy for the men on their team. It will be enjoyable having a friendly rivalry in the future with them. Hopefully we will see the Dynamite in Mesquite Spring Worlds in March. Again, that is why Senior softball is so rewarding, meeting new people from other parts of the country. May all of you and yours in Senior Softball have a blessed holiday season and healthy and happy new year in 2014. Thank you to Terry, David and Fran, and the rest of the SSUSA staff for all the hard work you do to put on these tournaments for the men and women in Senior Softball.
Blessings to all of you,
DuWayne Pillard-manager of 65 Scrap Iron Classics-Colorado

Discussion: 65 AA player playing 60 AAA

Softballnuts, if you are 65, and played down, I believe you will be fine to play on a 65 AA team in 2014. It's crossing over at the same age level that gets you in trouble. If you play with a team at 65 that was AAA, then you might affect your AA rating. Call George as crusher recommended.

I believe that once you go up to an AAA team, especially in the same age bracket, your status will be bumped up. Many players make the mistake of playing up a level in the same age group and now all of a sudden their rating status has changed. I have a player in which that happened to, and now he has the higher rating, thus affecting my recruiting future players. Remember, AA team can have 3 AAA players, AAA teams can have 3 major players, etc. etc. Be care you don't lock yourself into a level and thus effecting your status with your current team. Managers have a hard time with a player doing that.

Discussion: Congratulations to Git R Done 65's

Congratulations Git R Done 65's for defeating us twice in the championship games. You did what you had to do. We are 1-1 in championships with one another. I am sure we will have more great battles with one another. We already have! You men are a class act and if our team had to lose to a team, your group would be the one to lose to. We will see you down the road. Your team is what makes senior softball so great to participate in.

On Tue. April 23, the 2nd game with Scrap Iron Classics and Git R Done says 3:30 p.m. The game before with Scrap Iron Classics vs. Yavapai Cantina says 3:30 p.m. as well. The 2nd game should start when? Both games can't start at the same time. Please respond SSUSA.
Thank you.

Discussion: Bull Head City Tournament

Ken, our team has gone to Bullhead/Laughlin for the last five years in a row and find the tournament to be a time of getting in reps and a sort of "spring training," if you will. I live in an area where you can't get out to practice because of the inclimate weather. The weather was absolutely beautiful this year in Bullhead/Laughlin. Our team did not play on the little league fields, so I definitely would understand your frustration. I think what has happened is the tournament is growing so rapidly every year that they are having to utiize every possible facility in Bullhead City. In my opinion, they could get all the teams on the two complexes if they would play back to back games, and later into the day, however, a better solution would be to play in Kingman like we did several years back, but I think Bullhead City is trying to keep the revenue pretty much right there in their city and the rec department. Our team goes there for one reason, to get ready for the Spring Worlds in Mesquite two weeks later. We also like the atmosphere of the area, and the beautiful warm weather that the area has. We accomplished the goal of why we went, and feel we are ready for Mesquite. I agree with SSUSA, write Ryan, tell him your frustrations and knowing Ryan like I do, he will discuss this with the City of Bullhead City rec dept. and take your complaints seriously. I have found him to be very professional to deal with.
Lastly, it is a non-sanctioned tournament, so it really doesn't count for anything other than getting in "softball shape" and being ready for all of the SSUSA sanctioned tournaments. Everyone, win or lose, gets the same nice t-shirt, nothing more, nothing less. DuWayne Pillard
