Melissa, Steve's daughter, writes, My Dad is much more at peace tonight. The doctors were able to stop his face tremors with some medication. He has pneumonia now and is on full oxygen. My kids to see him tonight and are now heading home with my mom for some much needed rest. I am thankful for this night alone with my dad. I love him so much. Thank you for all your prayers. FasTs, do you know of anyone that will be 65 in 2013 looking for a good AA team? We just won the Western Nationals in Colorado. If so, let me know. 303-437-5340.
We could use as many as 3 players because we have players moving to the 70 age group after Vegas. Thank you.

Discussion: Update on Steven Simmons

The latest update on Steven this morning from Melissa, his daughter, is they straightened Steven's spine last night and removed the bone from the spinal cord. He has a break in the C2 vertebrae, but the bone did not completely sever the spinal cord. They did a CT scan, but they can't see much because of the halo that he is in. They are now reducing the sedatives as I write this so they can do a neurological exam today. We continue to pray for his complete recovery.
A good site to go on for complete updates is CaringBridge.com There you can register and write your personal thoughts to Steven and his family.

Discussion: Please pray for Steve Simmons

In my haste to write this, I wanted to say that Steve plays for Prize Company out of Mn. My name is DuWayne Pillard and I have known Steven since 1972. He stayed at my house during the Western Nationals that was just played in Aurora, Co. this past weekend. Many of you know Steve and I know that you would want to know this.

Discussion: Please pray for Steve Simmons

Steve Simmons from Minnesota, Prize Company, was critically injured Thursday in a boating accident. He was given CPR for 45 minutes and revivied. Steven was vacationing with his grandchildren and family back in Rhode Island when the accident occured. He was thrown from the boat when it hit a sandbar and was taken to a hospital in Providence, R.I. He has had a heart attack and a bone hit the spinal cord in his neck was broken. He is in the intensive care ward at this time. The good news is that he is responsive and they think there is no brain injury. I do not have any other details at this time. He needs our prayers, so please pray for him and his family. Anyone that knows Steve knows he is a fighter, and one of the nicest players and best hitters in senior softball. I will give more details as they come available. Steve is a national director with SSUSA.

I am so sorry for your loss of Mr. Kehoe. I never knew him, but what a model we should all use when we play softball and in life!
I, to, am thankful every time I step on the field and play.
Life is just a vapor and can be gone so quickly. My prayers and thoughts are with his family and friends.

Discussion: WESTERN NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS....A concern?

Forecast for Western Nationals:
Fri. 93 partly cloudy
Sat. 87 partly cloudy
Sun. 92 partly cloudy
I live in Aurora. It is very pleasant in the mornings and up until about noon. The evenings are wonderful! Remember, the humidity is low, so that will help a lot. Drink a lot of water. I played in K-City several weeks ago and we played in 107 degree weather, and the humidity was right at 90%, uhhhhhhhhh......
You will love the complex, awesome fields, outfields are like a carpet, very well maintained complex from the bathrooms, concessions, etc.
Welcome to Aurora and Colorado! San Francisco Giants are in town at Coors Field. Go downtown and be sure and eat on the 16th St. Mall, great restaurants and food! You can take a bus shuttle from one end of the mall to the other, about one mile. You can get off the shuttle at each block, just pull the cord on the shuttle. Great experience!
Be sure to go by the memorial in Aurora by Aurora Mall and pay your respects. Across the mall to the north, one block, there is every eating restaurant that you can imagine. They have a wonderful sports bar, BJ's, great food. I will be happy to give other info on sights, food, etc. on this thread if asked. Aurora Mall is 15 min. from where we play.
I hope this info helps.

Discussion: Practice fields in Aurora

I live in Aurora and am a Senior ball player. There are probably 10-20 soccer fields. I am pretty sure that we can practice on them if they are not used by soccer teams. Olympic Park will be closed, you can't practice on it, Kennedy would be to far, and I don't know which field you are referring to on Miss. and Buckley. Your best bets are to try the soccer fields at the complex.

Discussion: Deepest Sympathy to Scrap Iron and Aurora

I live in Aurora and have been in that theater over 100 times. I can't even imagine the carnage, terror, and senseless violence that happened in theater #9. My thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the victims and the 57+ individuals injured, some still in critical condition. Aurora is still ranked #9 in the lastest ratings of the safest cities to live in the U.S. When all of the ballplayers and their families come to play very soon, they will see what an awesome city Aurora is.
Welcome, from one senior softball player to another!!

Discussion: TOURNAMENT WINNER AUTO MOVEUP

Gentlemen, I believe the only time an auto moveup is when you win the Phoenix Worlds, which now is the Las Vegas World
Masters. Another way of getting "bumped"
up is winning several or more national events, then they can bump up a team base on performance. This is SSUSA's criteria. I know a team that won Phoenix in 2010 and was bumped up to the next level. The best they have done since is 3-3. Uuually they don't win more than a game or two, so I agree that it isn't always the best to automatically bump up a team to the next level.
