B.J., mad dog: Thanks for correcting me. I made some bad assumptions when reading another discussion. I should know better then to think that S.S. rule is different then baseball in a fair or foul situation.

mad dog: I see that you were involved in that discussion. Im still unsure about a ball hitting third base and bounces back towards home plate and stops in foul territory or is touched in foul territory is a fair ball after reading that discussion.
Please enlighten me!!!

B.J.: Thanks, If you review the discussion "runner hit by ball" S.S. Staff comment that if a ball hits third base and bounces back towards home and hits the runner in foul territory, its foul because the ball did not pass the base.
Again, correct me if im wrong.

Correct me if im wrong:
First: If a ball bounce over third base and the next bounce is foul, the ball is foul.

Second: If the ball hits third base and bounces foul towards home plate, the ball is foul.

Third: If the ball hits third base and the next bounce is foul behind third base, is the ball fair or foul??????

Discussion: Runner Hit by Batted Ball

What if a ball hits third or first base and the next bounce touches foul past the base or the infielder touches the ball in foul territory past the base, is the ball fair or foul?

Discussion: ncss - escondido tournament

Before I get into how the tournament director ruled the winner of the 70 6 team round robin, I want to congratulate the NCSS organization for running a good tournament.
At the end of the round robin, there was a 3 way tie for 1st place. El Paseo, Cal Connection and Prescott finished with a 4 win, 1 loss record
with no team having a head to head advantage(Connection beating Paseo, Paseo beating Prescott, Prescott beating Connection.
The tie breaker rules: 1-head to head, 2-least runs scored against, 3-run differential, 4- flip of coin
The director did not understand that head to head doesn't come into play and he has to go to least runs scored against to determine winner, etc. In his mind he was stuck on head to head.
His decision was that Prescott beat Connection in the last game so that knocked Connection out. In the prior game Paseo beat Prescott so that makes Paseo the winner, Prescott 2nd and Connection 3rd and he refused to listen to Prescott and connection trying to explain his own tie breaker rules.
Someone in NCSS organization should explain to him how tie breakers work in round robin and NCSS should review the scores and determine the correct winner.
