| March 10, 2013 mnmasters38 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Oldest Senior Participant Dick Anderson from Minneapolis is 82, Plays in the 75 and 80 divisions plus plays Monday night senior ball with the young guys (50 and up). plus plays Tuesday and Thursday morning and Wed in a senior league and i believe he plays Thursday night in a wood bat league. I know there are other senior players that play in the 80 plus Worlds on Dicks team but I believe Dick is one of the most noteable. I went and watched some of the 75's & 80's play when i was in Vegas last year and it was great. it's players, staff like them that have kept Senior ball alive so that we still can play. I hope I still am able to play at that age. Thanks for keeping the love of the game alive. |
| March 9, 2013 mnmasters38 | Topic: Bats Discussion: Talk regarding illegal bats I'm to the understanding that rolling, hitting bat with rubber mallet, against a post, against another bat, squeezing in a vise plus numerous other ways is considered altering a bat. Suppose to help them break in quicker. I beleive it also shortens the life of the bat, especially rolling it. I beleive in going to the batting cage or just taking BP to break in a bat is the best. Most senior bats are hot out of the wrapper or they get hot within 150 swings. 1 or 2 visits to the cage gets it done. Maybe one of the staff members can claify what SSUSA considers altering a bat. I agree with The Answer on why would anyone shave a senior bat. |
| March 5, 2013 mnmasters38 | Topic: Bats Discussion: Monsta Athletics Senior Bats Navy is a great guy. He plays in our indoor winter league, top defense and offensive player. He plays on our monday night senior team and play against him on Tuesday and Thursday Senior league. He plays for the Ancell 55 Major team out of Minnesota. AXTOMC is correct, don't judge someone because he didn't fill in his profile yet, Navy is a stand up guy and was just giving everyone his honest opinon of the bat that he has used. He's is as credible as anyone else on here. Best of luck to everyone this upcoming season. MN Masters 38 |
| Feb. 9, 2013 mnmasters38 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Ratings I got this rating system from a friend who has played and coached A ball and up. He used this system to evaluate players for his teams. 1 OBP 2 Power 3 Moblity 4 Defense 5 Game intelligence Rate each player 1-5 (with 5 being the best) in each catagory. Max score is 25. I used the following break down. 0-6 AA 7-12 AAA 13-18 Major 19-25 Major Plus as in any evaluation you are at the descretion of the evaluator in the game intelligence, your defensive skills and moblity. |
| Feb. 9, 2013 mnmasters38 | Topic: Bats Discussion: Hard time getting ahold of Team 1 sports re: broken Ambush Tim is at the TOC this weekend, but he will take care of you. My first Ambush had over 1000 swings before it broke. I also had 3 demos out that broke after about 650 swings, they broke in about 40 degree weather. |
| Jan. 9, 2013 mnmasters38 | Topic: Bats Discussion: Hard time getting ahold of Team 1 sports re: broken Ambush I've worked with Alan for some time now and he has always got back to me and taken care of things. My first ambush 27oz bal had over 1100 swings before it broke, I used it as a demo bat and it was my fault it broke. Was trying to see how well it would hold up under different conditions, we had a cold streak in Sept or Oct about 45 degrees, we broke 4 of my demo ambush bats 3 of them had over 600 swings in them and 1 had over 1100. I think it's an excellant bat, but with all senior bats once they get broken in leave them in the bag for the big tournaments. Gary Bennett gary@xtreme.us.com 612-747-9315 |
| June 21, 2012 mnmasters38 | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: MN SSUSA QUALIFIER RESULTS Steve, wanted to let you know that I thought your tournament went well. You and your crew did a great job of getting the fields in playing shape after the first down pour. We had very competetive games and the sportsmanship was very good. Hopefully you can start drawing more teams form outer states. Hope to see you in Edina. |
