Discussion: Why is this rule not enforced??

I think the issue is obviously when the lines of the batters box late in a game disappear or in later games in some tournaments when the lines aren't redrawn. Under these circumstances although, by necessity, the rule still relies on the umpires subjective opinion, add this addendum to the rule "In the absence of lines the benefit of the doubt runs to the batter." Therefore batters that without a doubt are outside the box when contact is made are still called out but umpires shouldn't be expected to know exactly where the 39.5 inch line in front of the plate should be and the benefit of the doubt is given to the hitter.

Discussion: Dave "Duke" Dukelow player/manager Roberts/Pope 60 major...passes today

Bogie, Sorry to hear of the passing of Dave. Please forward my condolences to his family and teammates. We enjoyed playing many games against each other when I was in Chicago. He was always a gentleman to me and to our team. Every time I hear this kind of news it makes me appreciate the time we all have together on the field--win or lose.

Discussion: CHICAGO CLASSICS BOBCATS PITCHER PASSES

I know this is an old pot but I recently learned about the passing of Jimmy Brummund. I was a teammate of Jimmy's over 10 years ago. He pitched for our team. He was truly a warrior on the mound. So sad.

Congratulations Steve. You could always tell how far Steve hit the ball by how big his smile was. Way to go partner. To one of the nicest guys you will meet playing softball.

Discussion: WHO IS THE FAVORITE AT 50 MAJOR WINTER NAT

Dirty,
I think we took up enough of this thread with our back and forth. My email address is rschulz511@aol.com. We can exchange cell phone numbers and discuss anything you would like to discuss. I will try to answer any questions you have. I hope to have the answers that truly provide you with the answers you are after. You can tell me what you mean by kool-aid. Better yet, you are from Ohio. Come to the Brickyard Invitational and we can meet in person if it is worth the drive to you.

Dirty, Why do you keep asking the silly question about the word Nationals? It is true that our team (new team Black & Blue) does not "need" to play in a qualifier before going to a National. We are playing in the highest division. We are not trying to play below where we should play. If you believe we don't deserve to play in Major Plus then that would be your uninformed opinion of our new team. Continuing to ask why we don't need to qualify for a National or what makes it a National would be as silly as asking--Did you qualify under the name "Just Messy" before you took the name "Dirty."

Don,
We look forward to seeing you in Vegas and Phoenix. Our team is comprised of former players from Travelodge, Windy City and Geckle. Mostly former Travelodge players.

I guess no one else on a 55 Major Plus team cares enough about competition at this level to cooperate and post their schedule.

Jawood,
We realize at the MP level that there are a limited number of teams available for each tournament. That is one reason that most of our tournaments are Nationals/Worlds. It is our hope that we will have the opportunity to measure our strength as a team against other MP teams. The purpose of my original post was to encourage other MP teams to post their schedules likewise so we can all see which teams are going where. Personally I would like to see Major and Major Plus combine. Time will tell what the Associations decide in that regard.

Dirty,
We regard to your post I have been on the message board long enought to know that you know the answer to your own question. Why don't you write what is really on your mind.

We are a new team in the midwest called Black & Blue. We will be playing 55 Major Plus. Please post your schedule here so we can all determine how well represented Major Plus will be especially for the Nationals. Here are the tournaments we plan to attend:

5/1,2--Brickyard Invitational (Indianapolis)

7/16,17,18--SPA National (Dalton)

7/30,31,8/1--ISA World (Gallatin)

8/6,7,8--SSUSA Eastern Campionships (Raleigh)

8/27, 28, 29--LVSSA National (Vegas)

10/22, 23, 24--SSUSA World (Phoenix)

We are considering attending another tournament in June to which we can drive with Indiana as a center point. Any suggestions?

Discussion: Tournament winnings......????????

I wasn't asking about 2005. I was asking whether there were 3 teams in the bracket this year. Receiving a 2nd place prize (award) when there are 16 teams is more important than a 2nd place finish when there are only 3 teams. It also would make sense to provide more in terms of awards if an association receives tournament fees from 16 teams compared to only 3.

Discussion: Tournament winnings......????????

elpbadboys,
This will be my last post since I think we have walked around this dead horse and are now just kicking it. I don't know for sure--you do, whether there were more than 3 teams in the bracket where prizes were given out to your team previous to your last tournament? My point is why would you want a prize/award for finishing 2nd in a 3 team bracket? Was the Gold Glove a three team bracket for you?

elpbadboys,
Maybe I don't have all the facts and I am wrong. My question is "Did you start this thread because there were no awards for your second place finish in a three team bracket?"

Mad Dog, I have spent the last two winters in Texas. Last year in the Houston winter league we only had one night cancelled due to rain or cold weather. This year we've had more than half our games cancelled due to rain or cold. What's going on?
