My family and I, would like to wish all of you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. This was my first year playing senior softball and I really enjoyed it. I met many new people and look forward to the 2005 season. I read all the posts on a daily basis and feel that I know a lot of you. Hopefully, I will have the opportunity to meet some of you. Thanks for making senior softball what it is !

Discussion: "Home runs =outs"

I was just voicing some frustration. All I have been playing is open tournaments. I just turned 50 and wanted to play with guys my age. Yeah there are home run restrictions in the open tournaments, but at least you are allowed to hit a few. But to completely eliminate home runs from the game, I think is rediculous.

I played my first SSUSA AA divsion tournament last weekend. I had a great time, but was disappointed with one of the rules. One of the rules for this tournament was "Home runs=outs". WHY ? You have got to be kidding ! A softball game where home runs are not allowed, and if you accidently hit one, you're out. I don't agree with this rule. Don't get me wrong, I believe in restrictions because of high tech bats, but to completely eleminate home runs from the game is rediculous. Home runs are a part of the game. They make the game exciting. The only good part to that rule is that I won't have to buy $300 bats anymore,,,,,,,

I just turned 50 and I'm looking for a highly competitive team in the So. Cal. area to try out or play for. I've been playing softball for over 20 years. I play third base, first base or catch. I prefer third base though. I'm a .700 hitter with power. 4tango26@msn.com
