Saw a few teams bailing out at our hotel. Not sure who is the wiser, us for staying or them for not. I guess we will know tomorrow.

Discussion: SSUSA Player Hannington/ Bay State Bombers 55 Bill Curry Dies in Ireland

The Eastern Mass Softball community is saddened by the sudden death of Billy Curry. Cetainly one of the nicest gentlemen and toughest competitors in Senior Softball. My deepest condolences to his children and family, which includes his friend and Manager "Case", his senior softball family, the Baystate Bombers, and to all his softball colleagues. Billy will be missed but not forgotten.

Discussion: Player Ratings

Fred, ever consider an equalizer, like in tournament play? If you think one team is a "major" team playing against "AAA" teams then have them give 5 runs or an extra player as an equilizer.
It certainly beats banning individual players because they happen to be on a good tournament team. They themselves may or may not be of major/major plus ability but that is what their team is ranked.
I doubt there are any major plus players in your rec league. They are few and far between and wouldnt bother with a rec league.

Discussion: The Passing of Steve Simmons

My heart goes out to the Simmons family. I will remember Steve as a gentleman, a competitor and an ambassador of "our" game. The New England contingent of Senior Softball will miss one of our home grown boys !!
