| Feb. 6, 2010 seniorsbfart | Topic: Bats Discussion: Flared or cone knob ??? As best I can tell the flared knob is legal in senior softball. Many of the players have them on their bats. Not sure about 'rolled' as I how that relates to the knob. I do remember a bat called the axe which had a axe handle and we started to use it at the Huntsman games but the ump told us it was not legal in senior softball. However the flare I put on my bat is more like a cone...guess it is one in the same. |

So how my hitting has gone from really bad to not-so-bad.... PS: This new Veteran bat has turned out to be a great bat and wondered if any of you guys have also hit one ? |

| Dec. 27, 2009 seniorsbfart | Topic: Bats Discussion: good wood, bad game I played in a fun game with wood bats. The fences at this park are 250 and even some of the young guys could not hit it out. We even used a 47/525 ball but to no avail. Using wood bats changed the game for the worse IMO and I would never want to play in a wood league full time. |

| Oct. 21, 2009 seniorsbfart | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: True Home Run Hitter I agree with the statement that the long ball is for the true HR hitters. In the winter league I play in we have a rule that only guys 70 plus can use the U2 and since that only the true big hitters are parking it over the fence. We have a handful that can park it once in a while and one guy that hits it 350ft almost every time. That guy I heard has starting using a wood bat so with our fences at 275 it will be interesting to see how that works out. Overall the U2 rule has balanced out our league and kept the HR to those that can really do it. On a side note I am not really behind the idea of our big hitter using wood since I like watching the ball hitting the top of the trees that outline the field. |

I did some study with folks that really know about bats and the true answer is this: Rotating composite or alloy bats is never bad idea but it is not proven that it will make your bat last any longer. There are just too many factors that might crack a composite bat which is why some last 50 swings and some 1000 however the experts I talked to agreed that rotate is really not a factor.
