Gary, we spoke of your reasons for not remaining in Florida following the Winter Nationals, but a few "arm curls" at the ole' El Tenampa" following a session at The WHC might help. LOL

My major team isn't going to the Winter Nationals Nov 3rd thru the 5th. So, if anyone can use an extra outfielder, give me a call. I live in Florida, so, it's a short trip. 727.580.0876

Discussion: Waterproof Softball Shoes?

Just a suggestion. you may wish to look at soccer shoes. They're good turf shoes, generally made of vinyl, and generally water resistant. I had the wet sock problem for years at early morning BP and games. The soccer shoes solved the problem. However, they do not "breath" and your feet may still sweat, so....

Nancy Allen is correct. Tennis balls in the aluminum bats were the fix of the day. I mean, so I heard!!! I read a lot of books!

Discussion: This is for Bogie

Bogie, I hope one of your future videos includes "Cincinnati Fred" as an 80+ hitter. I don't know if you've seen him hit at The Club, but he - in his 80's, still is a prolific line-drive hitter. And, he still plays in the FHC tourneys.

Discussion: WOODLAWN HITTING CLUB?

Hey Bruce and Bogie, I'm trying to start a Woodlawn Team out of Ohio. So we're expanding. Kinda' like the chapter in Taylor, Michigan. Snowbirds, ya' know.

Discussion: 75 Year Old Players Needed

Looking for two or three 75 year old players for a new team playing out of Dayton Ohio (74's must be from contiguous states). We have players from Ohio, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Canada, so state of residence may not matter. We are a self-financed team and expect to play in several tournaments in and around Ohio (the actual number will be by team vote). We're looking for infielders and outfielders. We have good pitchers, catchers and first basemen. Text me or call me at 727.580.0876 for greater detail.

Discussion: Lookin' Ta' Play

Okay, I just learned that my 75 team is not participating in the Spring Nationals in Florida. So, if anyone needs an extra…. My bio: Dave, George, Frannie, et alii, have theorized that I may be rated “major” (but you know the rating system), which means I can play 75 AAA, 70 Major, 70 AAA, or one of three (3) 70 AA players (or younger - LOL). I’m “Florida eligible” or, if the 70’s, it would be in a “snowbird” status out of Ohio. My batting average – USUALLY – is between 700 and 750. And, if I hold my mouth right, with a gale force wind blowing out and the sun in the outfielders’ eyes, I have occasional power. Love to play up the middle of the infield, but, since I still run okay, I’m assigned to the outfield (left, left center, or right center). So, if there’s a team that finds themselves in dire straits, text me, or call, at 727.580.0876.

Hey Nick! Glad to see a true "senior" on this board! LOL I've played 70's M+ and 75's M and, like you, play the outfield. Sounds like we should form our own team!!!!

HwyFuzz, Don't know what you really want, but Dick's Sporting Goods sells a tripod style for 'bout $25. I've used one for a coupla' years. Just something to check.

Jawood,
All the suggestions are good. I had it this summer which made it rough as I play the out field. And it resolved itself after about three months. When you're playing, use the tape remedy. The how-to can be found on the internet. One suggestion which I didn't see was use of a rigid device on your foot when sleeping. It holds your foot in a fixed position. They're advertised at varying prices, but I found one at CVS for about $35.00.
Good luck! It'll take a bit to heal.

Discussion: Seeking Info....

I had both eyes done in 2007. Best decision I've made. My recovery was much quicker than I see here. But, do the drops! They will prevent infection. I chose to do the distance lens in both eyes and I am able to read all but the smallest aspirin bottle printing without reading glasses. My night vision is great. Good luck!

As I follow the Huntsman Games, I believe SSUSA could get a few pointers from them. Their new system allows hourly updates in pool and bracket play. The results are posted within two or three hours of game completion. Just my two cents worth.

Gary,
I still have - and use on cold days - the gold Worth ESTs. One is a 26 oz 10 inch barrel and the other is a 30 oz 13 inch barrel. They still hit well with the new balls. Next time you visit Woodlawn, I'll let you try them.
