With 30 teams and a 3 day format, it appears as though some games will start as early as 7:30 AM and others as late as 8:00 PM. Lots of softball and lots of standing around the park. Could be a battle of attrition. Stay healthy (and thirsty) my friends. Mel

If the ball did not hit the ground or any other illegal objects, it most certainly is a catch. If he could cradle the ball in his stomach and arms, why couldn't he get his glove on it? :>) Mel

Nancy, I tried to post a comment on the funeral home's site, but, since I'm not on facebook, couldn't. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you now more than usual. Mel

Bill was instrumental in developing senior softball in Indianapolis. All around him benefitted from his never-ending crusade for softball, his team, and his players. We may may been foes on the field, but I was fortunate to count Bill as a friend. Condolences and prayers Nancy. We'll all miss him but have the opportunity to stay connected through you. Mel

Webbie, I know what you mean about feeling "good". My surgeon said I wouldn't care much for him for several weeks. Glad to hear that it's going well. I'm scheduled in a few weeks since I didn't get any cancellation move-up. Keep the faith, Mel

He's probably too busy rehabbing, but does anyone have an update on Webbie25's progress with his new knee? Thanks, Mel

Hi Webbie, Great news on your new schedule. I don't need to tell you what you already know about rehab so just know that I'm thinking of your surgeon on Thursday. Mel

Discussion: Warning about too many pain medications

Great post Webbie, Another affect of pain medication is that you may cause more damage to the joint for which you are masking the pain. I'm glad you didn't suffer any of the possible events associated with over-medicating. Happy Thanksgiving to all, Mel

Webbie, Great news that you'll be able to have this done so soon! My Dr told me 2 days in the hospital......I think it depends on the patient (us) and I'm sure we'll be chomping at the bit to get home and begin rehab. Stay positive, Mel

Discussion: Playing after knee replacement?

Hi Webbie, A friend of mine had an osteotomy on one knee and had the other replaced. He says the replaced one is much better. If Steve is impressed with your long ball, you must hit pretty well. When could you get in for the replacement? My first opportunity is Feb. 18, and I took it and got on the list in case someone cancels before that. Best wishes, Mel

Discussion: Playing after knee replacement?

Webbie25, Most orthopaedic surgeons don't recommend playing after total replacement. Some say it's OK to play "low-impact" positions......they don't understand senior softball....and a few say you can do anything but jump off a roof. From all the information I've gathered, it's an individual thing. I intend to play. Add Zimmer knees to your comparison list, since they are highly recommended also. Best wishes in your surgery, don't forget to rehab, and I hope to see you back on the field. Mel

Thanks for all of the information. I'm anxious to get this done, start the rehab, and see where it takes me. I appreciate your input which has served as encouragement. Mel
