Discussion: Arthritis pain remedies

hoovedog, Thanks for the reference. After reading all of the comments, I only have more questions. My son is a pharmacist, speaks and reads Spanish, and told me if I take them, cut back on my glucosamine/chondroitin pills. I confess that I take one a day....sometimes skipping a day or two....and have notices much relief and no side effects. Thanks again, and regards, Mel

Reumofan Plus is purported to ease or eliminate arthritis pain. Has anyone had any experience using it? Thanks, Mel

Discussion: Looking for the other WAYS players get hurt...

I, and probably others as well, suffered a torn meniscus in my right knee from running the bases. That's why I suggest that everyone run for him or herself unless it's absolutely necessary to have a "courtesy" runner. Regards to all, and don't let this stop you from running the bases. :>)

d45, I can't remember (or never knew) his last name, but he is Stuart and his wife is JoAnn. Thanks for the help and maybe we'll see you at a tournament this year. Mel

When my wife and I visited Hawaii, I met another senior softball player. He's from Denver and also plays 65+ (maybe 70 this year). If anyone knows Stu from Denver, give him my regards. Thanks, Mel

Discussion: ..... congress, session 2

Unlimited funding and gerrymandering are two of the major culprits when it comes to "lifetime politicians". Unlimited funds contribute to the 94% reelection stats for incumbents and gerrymandering ensures that districts remain within the chokehold of one party or the other. The good old days refers to when our representatives grudgingly left home to serve in congress and were anxious to return home. Their lives have become far too lucrative. "Vote them all out." Mel

What if these "impact players" move to a higher age division? Is a 60 Major player also a 65 Major player? Thanks, Mel

Discussion: Moving up in age, down in classification?

Many teams have players who could play at a higher level. Usually the lower rated teams don't have very many. Our game is still a team sport and SSUSA ought to consider adjusting their system without rating individual players.......a real can of worms. Mel

E4/E6, I hope your health continues to improve. As you, we are a team of friends, some of who could play at a higher level but would miss the fellowship and camarederie of our buddies. Since those turning 65 didn't win anything at 60AAA, it seems to me they shouldn't be ineligible to join us. Maybe the solution would be to move to 65AAA. Regards, Mel

A few players from our organization's 60AAA (Job Central/Indy 60's) team are moving up to 65AA (dot Jobs/Indy 65's) this year and we've been told they may be ineligible. We wonder why, and if any other players and organizations have dealt with this before. How can it be, or has it been resolved? Thanks, Mel P.S. SSUSA, your input is welcome.

Webbie, As it stands, the continuous double play would not allow the run to score. Unfortunately just a case of poor umpiring. Hope you were able to overcome it. Regards, Mel

Discussion: O.K., WHO ARE THE MOST SOLID AA TEAMS AND ARE YOU HEADED TO DALTON THIS THURSDAY? (especially 60 AA)

Team depth is what really decides how each team ought to be rated. Several AA teams may have a few AAA or possibly major players along with" predominantly "entry level" players. That uaually happens because of the main reason many of us play senior softball.......friendship, fellowship, and camaraderie......along with the will to compete regardless of ratings.

Remember this is the same Ridge Hooks and SPA that moved the Indy 60's from 60AA to AAA in 2008 after the round robin during which they experienced much the same success as Doc Martens. The difference is that Indy had been AA all year. Thanks, Mel

Ho, Thanks for your insight. Taits, It was 08, and the collaboration was DURING the tournament, and proved that the team's roster had not changed......SPA rerated that team after the round-robin anyway and SSUSA followed suit after the tourney. Regards to you both, Mel

A few years ago, the message board carried the topic, "They can't do that!" The thread had an interesting discussion concerning SPA's rerating of The Indy 60's after pool play in the Dalton,GA National Tournament. It's notable that the top 3 teams in this year's 65AA at Dalton are all rated AAA by SSUSA. Any thoughts?

Discussion: steel cleats

Kenny, I sure miss those days when we outfielders had a better grip. We wore them in fastpitch as well. I guess the preoccupation with safety eventually catches up with all of us. I did get cleated once by a shortstop while I was sliding into second base and he stepped on me. The catcher's shinguards always posed much more safety hazard for runners. Regards, Mel
