Ok , Jay . I actually was only coinciding with you on your statement that "some of these little tournaments can be easily played in 2 days". MAIN POINT

What do you think about this one Jaywood . We are going to Raleigh tomorrow (Monday),to play a 2 team best 2 out of 3(ends on Thurs.). Sure there is a couple of seeding games (w/teams in another div)& one w/the team we are going to play. We have multiple factors here. Besides being away from home most of the week,we have 13 going & 5 of them are limping already. In this 2 team format, I would gladly settle for one "warmup game & get it over with.....There were some 2 teamers in Dalton. They played each other 3 out of 5 & that was it....OKI won 3-0 & Turn Two won 3-2. If the TD's would just ask the teams in these situations how they wanted to decide the champions,I am sure they would go for the 3 out of 5 format. I know that I would. And it would save the tourney some umpiring fees, and save the teams some unexpected injuries. Just my thoughts...

Discussion: Who is going to Raleigh

Thanks for the info Harry. I was not in Dalton. I Play primarily 55. I live near Churchill Downs & like to handicap horses (& ball teams). No ,I did not say that J & J's would win it , only that they should have been a contender. I was 2 for 3. OKI won the 50 Major Plus hands down & Turn Two won in the if game. I did get the 50 Major wrong by picking SmIths Laminating. I thought that because they were loaded with guys from 1990's ASA Mens Major Champs "Riverside Paving",that they would make some noise. Didnt happen , they were 1 & 4....... P.S.,they wont let me change my old handle.

Why dont you put on your glasses, turn on your lamp, get out your dictionary & thesaurous and start your own thread & let theses guys talk about real & positive topics in a manner they deserve. And I couldnt care less who you are, where you live & what teams you played on....Big deal.

Any one know about the 50 major plus winner or the 60 major plus winner ? SPA was doing a good job of updating on Thur & Fri & then they just Quit. OKI was up 2-0 on the best 3 of 5. Turn Two & Rose were tied 2-2.

J&J's is on I-65.....Turn Two loses Two , going to the "if"....OKI averages 37 runs their 1st 2 games.Loaded with "New Construction"players ,ASA Major Champs in the early 1990's.They are going "Maverick" hunting....Lefty.I earlier said, dont count'em out in the d'bl......Smith's getting close to I-65.. They wont let me change my name..

Armiho 211 , you must have done your homework. As far as the "Wild Bunch"goes, you never know who is going to show up when the d'bl elem starts. But TEXAS MECULI might be the real deal.Turn Two wins 2 by a nose.

I will make Smiths Laminating an 8-5 morning line favorite in the 50 Major...... In the 50 Major Plus , the odds makers consenses at 2-1,with a "new look"for 2011,is the awesome Ohio,Kentucky,Indiana (OKI)Players...... Now for the 60 Major, look for Jim & Joes to make a strong run to get their picture taken. They are battle tested ,having played against younger teams all season & won their share of games. They are more than ready to play teams their age for the 1st time this season.....In the 60 Major Plus heat, who could bet against Turn-Two & if you did,you must not like money. Look for them to be in the winners circle.....Dream game , Smith's vs OKI,Would love to see that ,but it wont be anytime soon...The Greek

Sounds like they were using a "Baden" ball. It is like a base ball compared to a "Trump" ball. I have never broke a bat before. Broke a new Ultra & a Launch in B/P last yr., using Baden balls. Hardest low compression ball on the market.SPA uses them.

Champaign on Sat. the 16th. Extended weather report is very dismal for that day. I dont think that Chi.Prime 55's can make it.

Discussion: need a new knee

OK guys, knee talk is right up my alley. I did my left one 2 yrs ago next month. After I had it done in Feb.,I was playing in May. Secret, lots of therapy before surgery & after (dont stop the therapy). Doc said I would be ahead of the game because I have always worked out & will always continue to do so. I include every leg related machine in the gym during my work outs. I can run great, but I always use a C-runner. The CR will get me through the entire weekend with minimal pain & I will be able to go to work on monday.Guys , you must remember,a knee replacement is not PERMANENT ! I am a pitcher & can still do my job defensevly, backing up all incoming throws from the outfield & covering 1st,2nd,3rd & home. After doing all of my research & listening to my Dr. ( he plays younger softball ),I cannot imagine anyone with a total knee being a C-runner or playing outfield. It is my understanding that they are good for 15 yrs. IF you take care of them. Thats how I do it STRAP. Good luck with yours....Ron ,Expert Car Care,Ind.

Discussion: Plate & Mat as Strike

Gary 19,I am the pitcher on the team that Paul R. (Bullet) plays on out of Indy that won the 55 AAA Winter Nat's. Been doin it "forever". I have never had an injury from a ball hitting the mound , but I have had some close calls. I also can recall seeing a few other instances (past 35 yrs),where an opposing pitcher got hit by a "worm burner" hitting the rubber......As far as the CR,I have a titanium knee (1 1/2 yr.), am on base a lot & can get to 2nd quickly. But,Paul will tell you, that the more CR's I have, I will swallow fewer hydrocodones, have less pain on Sunday morning & be able to go to work on Monday morning. That's what a CR means to me. Without them,I could not get through the weekend.....RG, "Expert Car Care". PS ,Hope to meet you some day.

Discussion: Plate & Mat as Strike

Give me the mat. All those years of hearing umpires giving those "corny" verbal descriptions of each pitch ( too deep, you're over him, just missed etc, etc, etc.)And then there were a lot of "corny" pitchers hollering at the ump wanting to know "what's wrong with it"? Personally,I liked umps that only said "ball","strike" & thats all......TATER,I totally agree with you about this site getting rid of that "trojan horse virus"......PLAYER 25,yes the chalk should go further out in front of the plate to compensate where a batter has to stand with a mat vs.a plate nowadays.

Discussion: Pitchers rubber

I have been lucky I guess ( not ever been hurt ) but, I have seen others get hurt. In younger days,I used to kick dirt on the rubber while the infield was throwing the ball around & pitch from further back. Sometimes a sharp ump would catch me & brush the mound every inning. I think the most important aspect here is that a lot of potential routine outs have been lost due to balls hitting the rubber . Agree . But over the years I have been blessed to have some crafty short stops & 2nd basemen that were always on the move , backing me up , when balls were hit up the middle. Many times balls have hit the rubber & flew up in the air, giving my middle infielders time to get a force at 2nd or an out at 1st. They are beautiful plays when they happen, all because of experience & hustle....I remember when ASA had a 10' circle & you could pitch from anywhere in it...Maybe we could reincarnate that method. But since they have allowed pitchers to pitch further back,if they have the accuracy & want to, the chances of getting injured by a ball hitting the mound have been greatly reduced in my opinion....But the threat is still there.

My team,Brickyard "Fiddy Five" # 3 seed ,won the Winners bracket final , 55 AAA. Got double dipped by Pats of Florida.....Also heard that a lot of rain fell in Prescott . Is'nt that out west ? The ISA Tournament was loaded in all divisions with teams from Indy & Louisville . Hats off to those 2 cities for helping make the tourney a great success.....
