I have learned a lot playing against Sommerville over the years, coaching, playing, performance. And although we haven't beat them yet, they have certainly gotten the best out of us each and every time we play them...and we always have have hope.
We are not discouraged about playing at the Major Plus level, the competition and camaraderie is amazing.

Us beating JK earlier this season in Las Vegas is proof, that if you play hard and get some good bounces, good things will happen.

Playing better teams has made us a better team.

Play hard and good things will happen...maybe not in the form of a victory, who knows what good will come from it.

Discussion: Lower back problems

I have over 25 years of chronic back pain, mostly stemming from bulging and herniated disks in my lower back.
Aggravated by having spinal stenosis (narrowing of the spine).

I found that traction was the only real thing that has helped me get relief.
I started out using this huge machine at my chiropractors, where I would lie on it and basically get stretched out for 30 minutes a couple times a week.

Now I have a new routine where I do a form of traction myself with a pair of crutches.
I put the crutches under my arms and slightly bend my knees and let the weight of my lower body stretch my spinal column, usually for a couple minutes or so.
I do this several times a day and it has helped me immensely.

Bond...like I said, it's an additional rule added for some organizations (like USSSA), probably for safety concerns.

Not a baseball rule and not a SSUSA rule.

If it's a rule in any organization, it's a special rule put in for whatever silly reason.
It is not a standard baseball/softball rule.

BH44...there is no rule in Baseball or Softball that prohibits a batter to have the bat in his hand upon touching 1st base...urban legend.

SSUSA Staff...what are the rules if player is ejected?

Just wondering if getting ejected on purpose (hey Blue...F*&6 You) is a viable option here... :-)

Mannjo...those gel shots don't always work, and when they do, they don't last too long 3-6 months.

Curious about that procedure you referenced though I looked it up and it doesn't seem like something that is done for cartilage damage related to arthritis or just deteriorated cartilage.
It looks more like something for Bone diseases. I could be wrong.

EP1964...I am the manager of the team you are not mentioning, first of all you might want to do a fact check on your information...especially from your "reliable" sources. I am not a member of the SSUSA board, never have been and I have never been approached regarding any position.

That being said, I believe there are many more things to consider when ranking teams, than just winning the "Rock'n Reno" Tournament.

Benji4...I can "Guarantee" you, nobody on our team is afraid, we have always done exactly what the SSUSA ranking committed has ruled on. If and when we are moved up again, we will take that in stride and come ready to compete with anyone. We may have never beaten you guys, but that doesn't mean we are scared...we have always loved the great battle on the field, when playing Sommervile.

Discussion: batter's box

Not sure if this is the right place or not...but how will allowing the Pitcher to move 6' one way or the other from the rubber (new rule for sun issues) affect the batter staying in the box?

I would think it could be an issue for stepping on the mat, or out of the box, the angle is completely different and would provide the pitcher with a significant advantage.

Did the SSUSA Staff discuss this?
Is there a rule or amendment to the rule that already addresses this?

Discussion: Tim's Appeal Denied

I don't want to start this whole thing over again, but can someone answer this for me:

Was MTC a 50 Major Plus team last year?

Did they automatically get re-ranked for entering 55 tournaments with basically the same team?

There is a fine line the way this is handled, I don't think that a 54 year old Major+ player suddenly becomes a 50 Major player just because he turns 55 and enters a 55 tournament. I believe that ranking should follow them, just like everyone else.

Maybe SSUSA should like at something like a grace period of one season or something, there are a whole bunch of Major Plus players that are 55 or over.
