Discussion: Thanks CEO -Terry H. and Rick Siefman

I would like to give a big thanks to our Senior softball CEO Terry H. for once again donating funds to cover a 4-some to cover our AZ Director Rick Siefman and 3 other players in the Shootout for Sunshine Acres Golf tournament. Thanks again Terry for your help as we had to stop tournament past two years due to Covid. We had a great turnout and Rick won his bid in the auction for a new Pin Ball Machine. WE have been so blessed to help over 2000 children since 1953 live in our Homes in Mesa and continue to Never turn a child away due to lack of funding.. Terry took a tour years ago of Home and I encourage anyone in Mesa area off Higley and 202 to stop by and see what God has done. I have been very blessed to start working there in 1985 to 2001 and now serve on Board and thankful for my past 38 years being involved. Thanks again Terry and rest of Senior Softball staff for letting us continue to play a child's game through age of 90 now. I also want to thank you that play this special game, I so enjoy seeing you all and continue to wish you the best. Many Hugs, Gary Ingle

Discussion: MEMORIAL SERVICE THIS WEEK FOR RICK PETERSON

Just returned home from the service for Rick Peterson. It was an honor to share the pitching duties with him during the triple crown and I enjoyed watching him to find ways to play the game even with so many injuries. What memories I have of the ladies supporting us with music as we went to bat. Our Cheering Chicks sure made the game fun.Rick played for the love of the game and he sure fought the good fight till the end. Bless his family and team, Gary Ingle

Hello all. I just retired last month from 45 years working with AZ youth Public school Counselor. Wife and I are heading to Tacoma as Son has built us a mother in law suite to live in next 3 months. I am just looking around for anyone taking batting practice near by Tacoma. I play on a 65 team and have played at Major and AAA level. I see they have several tournaments close by Tacoma so it would be great to get in some swings in if possible. I just learned our 65 team from AZ is not playing in Sept Worlds this year. Thanks for any info. I am so blessed to still be a part of playing. My EMail is Dingle9104@msn.com . I will send my Cell phone if needed. Thanks again Gary Ingle

Discussion: Happy Thanksgiving to SSUSA players, families, friends

Just wanted to pass on my thankfulness at being able to still play a kids game. I just watched the recording of 25 years since Field of Dreams and I think we all can relate to the message of that movie. What a wonderful joy it continues for me to be on the field with so many of you for the past almost 30 years or more. I am blessed to be a small part of the game of softball and again so thankful for the joy I have when I walk on the field and see so many teammates and guys who I have played against some even when we were so young and the bodies worked much better, HA.Thank You Senior softball for giving me this chance to stay on the field. I have decided in May to retire from 45 years of Working with AZ youth. I turn 69 in March and look forward to turning work over to our young Counselors to deal with the next generation at School.God has so blessed me and I want each of you to know that this game that keeps us playing now makes me aware that a big part of the joy of the game comes from seeing you guys who have made such a positive impact on my life. Many Hugs, See you on the field. Gary Ingle

Great Job WEBBIE. I still remember the trick you played on me at Papago many years ago hitting a illegal 16 foot pitch in the sun for a Home Run. What a memory my friend. I will try a fastball next time HA.My luck you will hammer me up the middle. Gary Ingle

Discussion: Corona Virus (COVID-19) • Part II

As I set here at house calling my parents from School checking on the students who have real issues in life it makes me understand that Senior softball is thinking what is best for us by stopping tournaments for at least the next two months. The last week we were in school I was involved with a family whose 6th grade student had Brain cancer surgery and found out that they could not take all of it out and rest is cancer. Makes not playing a lot easier for me to accept. I am so thankful and blessed by so many of you players I have met in the past and look forward to getting to play much later this year as I will have Knee replacement April 30th God willing. I really look forward to rehab and running better again, Doc said at least 4 months so that puts me to Sept or so. I will keep you up to date as I recover. Thanks to so many of you who have been a gift to me in the past. I Look forward to finding a new team to begin playing again and am hopeful someone will want a 66 year old with 3 world rings etc. I am blessed to have played with three talented teams and look forward to seeing you all on the field as soon as possible. I plan to work as Counselor for at least one more year in Mesa AZ. Stay well my friends I look forward to when we can give HUGS again. Gary Ingle

I had batting practice last weekend with a 65 team that played 60's last season. I asked them how they liked the change to 0-0 count. Overall of the guys I spoke with they do not like the 0-0 count and are hopeful to see this rule changed this Dec at meetings. I had hoped to get to meetings but understand I will miss as I get to Vegas on Friday after school week from this Friday. I look forward to hearing how 1-1 count will be presented and believe all age groups should now have this rule. Thanks to all , Happy Thanksgiving. GI

I want to thank several of you who have called or sent me e-mail about the 1-1 situation. The support has been very clear that most of notes to me have been in favor. I have promised those that sent me info that I would again write the staff Member from Senior softball who I know will make sure my concern will be heard. To be honest I have not been informed as today about my Email to Senior Softball person but I am well aware he has been busy covering Phoenix Winter Worlds and should soon return back to CA.His contact in past has always been respectful and I am grateful for his and all Senior staff. How wonderful it is that we can at our age continue to play the game of softball, The rewards no matter what the rules make it possible for myself and all others who participate to enjoy the game, make new friends and I hope present a positive message and thankfulness to the softball community while we compete for whatever time we have left before God leads us home. Thanks GI

I agree it is about time to play with the 1-1 count as most of us have played this since we started playing softball. I wrote to a Senior staff member who I respect in past week and asked him to please pass on my request to change rules to 1-1. I continue to believe with each batter watching first pitch it takes at least 10 minutes from a scheduled game. I was excited when vote was done in past year or so and 65 teams out voted for the rule to go to 1-1. I guess it was decided that even though more voted for 1-1 count it was not a high enough percentage. I still believe if a group votes and has a higher percentage of votes than it should pass. Maybe I am wrong. I love this game and am so thankful for Terry and group stating this program so we can continue to be on the field. I am blessed to be a part of several teams that have won triple crowns and worlds and will never forget that memory as long as God permits me to have these memories. At 66 time is running out for myself and others my age and I can only hope that I get the chance to play with 1-1 count. I enjoyed playing in this past weeks 65 major division, and really am proud of each team I played for being great sports. I also want to thank the Texas team for helping me when I was drilled in leg by a line drive.Never saw it but you guys were so nice about it and I loved you team saying a prayer at end of game. Bless each player and I look forward to seeing you in future. Hugs Gary Ingle

Discussion: 50 AAA

Hi group, Some interesting notes from both sides. DBax I tend to agree with you about having chance to win a Triple Crown, They do not occur all that often unless your a team that wins all tournaments every year. I play for Rezults out of Vegas, I started playing in Feb of 2018 as a AAA team. We won the Feb Vegas tournament that had I believe had 3-4 teams in our division. I believe we did not win another tournament till Worlds In Sept 2018. We lost at least half of our team after being moved to major as guys did not want to be moved up. Coach has done his best to play if we could get enough players and played Dec and March at Rick Siefmans tournament in AZ going 0 for 10. We even lost to a 65 AAA team that had won I believe the 2019 Feb TOC Maybe as a AA or AAA team. WE went to Worlds in April fighting to come up with 11 players. To Senior softball credit they allowed us one add on player to get to 11. We ended up using bench coach in last game to keep 11 on field. Good news is we one first game by 1 run after a great open and than lost the next four games for a 1 and 14 record since worlds. We wanted to play Perris but came up short. Hard to believe with a sponsor and winning a Worlds we would have this problem. We plan to play Flagstaff and Vegas in June so maybe we will be considered for a level drop but that is out of my control. I will continue as I believe rest of team we have to give our best, Life sometimes are full of setbacks but nothing compared to what some have to face in life. One of my 1st grade students has cancer, Now that is a major problem that most of us will not have to face. I have said in past and will say again, I enjoy this game of softball and thank God for a chance to still be on the field around so many friends. See you on the field. GI

Sorry computer kicked me out. I was saying our 4-5th graders will not be able to compete against 6th graders level. I love the game and will continue to play as long as possible. Rezults are 1-14 in past 3 tournaments, I lost a paragraph in computer error or mine HA sorry do not feel like rewriting it. I am sure it will work out.

We will see how the system works. WE Rezults team are now 1 win and 14 losses Since we restarted in two Rick Siefmans tournaments and last week in Vegas worlds. I am believing it is a no brainer to senior softball that we have tried and failed so far to compete well and I assume will be moved to a lower level. We gave our best and thanks to Senior softball for letting us add a 11th player last week. We lost over half of our team in Sept after winning worlds as players did not want major level. Our coach has done a good job to keep us on the field while short players.I am thankful to play but working in the school system has taught me that if I pit our 6th graders against a 4-5th grade group of students
