Just think if you can hit my high pitches 350 than you would be hitting the golf ball a lot farther might even reach some of Sunshine Acres windows next to golf Course. HA Had a great time yesterday hitting balls with Steve Imlay, Allen and Al, Kenny, Doc and Cisco and a bunch of others. Dave Clover moving to Florida he still scares me up the middle even with a cage. Got to talk about softball, Winter Worlds, and Sunshine Acres golf tournament with guys yesterday. I am a very blessed guy and so thankful to be a part of Senior Softball, and Sunshine Acres. The kids at school keep me running as their Counselor but I love seeing them every day. At meeting today AM tee times are full but still have openings for 23 foursomes at the 12:30 tee time. Would love to see some AZ Senior teams I have played against over the years CJS, Rouge,bandits, Smith Elect. Johnny Hose Bunch and all the rest of AZ great teams who make playing fun. | Oct. 23, 2013 GI | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Sunshine Acres Children's Home golf tournament - senior softball Just a few words about Senior Softball how money is spent etc. I can tell you all that Terry and his group of staff have went way out of their way the last two years to help support our golf tournament in Mesa for Sunshine Acres Childrens Home. Last year the foursome that represented Senior softball won the tournament and donated the winnings $500.00 back to the children. This year with a little different date for winter worlds in Phoenix our golf tournament will be held on Friday Nov. 22nd at Long Bow golf course. If any of you hang around after the world or live in area please consider playing in this event. Sunshine Acres will be 60 years old next year and has had over 2,000 children live in the home over these years. We NEVER turn a child away due to lack of income. The golf tournament will be holding two tee times Fri 7:30 AM and 12:30 PM with meals between all events and supper with carrabba's after 2nd tee time. Channel 12 will be MC event and we have silent and Live auctions going on during supper. Last year raised $55,000 for one day event. Terry Fran, Dave and George have once again agreed to cover a cost to help us and I am very thankful for their continued kindness. I would be glad to invite any that are in area for worlds to visit home in Mesa for a Tour anyday. Right off the 202 and Higley Road. God has blessed this home and they live on donations and do not get money from state or Gov't. a child can live their from age 5 thru college if they want. I took in family of 7 when I was director there for 16 years. Called Miricle in the Desert, Come see for yourself. If you want any info please feel free to e- mail me at Dingle9104@msn.com. | Oct. 11, 2013 GI | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: CJS CLASS ACT Having been gone this past week to see grandkids in seattle and than fun time with MOMMA in Vegas I was pleased to see some very nice notes on my E-Mail at house when I got home this afternoon. Like I said CJS Express are very special to me and I thank you again. Feels very weird not heading to ANtham tomorrow and playing in tournament with you guys. | Oct. 9, 2013 GI | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: CJS CLASS ACT I just have to say after last 7=8 years with CJS it has been best of times and so many wonderful memories. My regreat is that you all will not head to 60's for two more years, Barry as coach you are so good and sam and Donna helping us with funds you are Great and I am thankful for all your help. The guys at CJS are family to me and as we expect to play to 80 I am sure we will all be together again . What can I say Triple Crown, World Champs, fun games over the years and even beating team out of Japan.. I am blessed and thankful as I head to 60's. I must also say thanks to terry, Fran, Dave and George for letting me participate in the young man's game. Hugs to all and if ever short I can still fill in for some 55 games. | Aug. 25, 2013 GI | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: So, you don't wear pitching protective gear!! I need all the help I can get . Just turned 60 this year and pitching for CJS at 55 level. I wear Knee guards with extra protection Soccer guards underneath. I also bought a new face mask and Helmit recently that gives me better vision and air flow. I plan to buy Chest protector for next season and anything else I can to cover myself up. It will not slow my speed down any more anyway HA. CJS has a screen for practice and it is helping me to get used to it as I suspect it will be a part of game very soon with all these pitching injuries.I have seen some terrible injuries with pitchers etc. I do not know how anyone would pitch without protection. I understand how much it costs pitchers to play the position money wise and emotionally. I still believe 1-1 counts higher ark would help BUT I will keep playing as long as I am able to with God's blessing. I enjoy being on the field and continue to love being a small part of the game with you guys. I am blessed. GI. Thanks terry and members for letting us play the game. |

| March 3, 2013 GI | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: 1-1 or 0-0 I got scared when I saw the time program on site today, I thought some of my teammates from CJS Express had put this in to show how long it will tske me to run all fourbases in a game for a home run.,, HAA. If I work it right I can reach plate in time for ining to finish. Let's play 6 and have some fun guys. Life is short, enjoy the gift God has given you, great seeing many at the park past few days. Someone asked if I was Webbie. I assured them he hits the ball 150 over fense and plays outfield unlike me who is at pitchers mound with helmet- jumping around. Hugs GI |
| March 3, 2013 GI | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: 1-1 or 0-0 For the record thank God for Terry Dave Fran and George and rest of staff. I turned 60 today and look forward to playing ball many more years if God permits. Just walked in from tournament in Bullhead Nevada. I had a wonderful time, My first time playing in this event. I am fine to wait 9 more months for any chance to consider changing to 1-1 count but have to tell you I loved playing 1-1 count with no pitch to waste this past weeknd. We started several games early including last one today and realy enjoyed as a pitcher and hitter the count. Guys were ready to play and hit when at the plate and enjoyed it every time they looked at first strike making it important to swing at second stike and keep it fair. Wow games moved fast and really liked the pace and energy. either way 0-0 or 1-1 I will continue to support Senior Softball with Terry and gang but really enjoyed playing these rules this weekend.Much more action and no problem playing 7 innings every game except for run rule in a game. See many of you in PHX in two weeks for Spring training R. Siefman tournament. PS Iagree teams need to be ready, should play and be prepared on off the field to help get 7 innings in more often. | Feb. 4, 2013 GI | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: 1-1 count no extra foul tourney Thanks Swing, I agree with you, I have long stated before even before any thought about vote etc. I always ask my coach to question before a tournament can we play 1-1 count, just to speed up the game get in 7 innnings. To be honest if they said we will play 7 innings even with 0-0 count as a pitcher and batter I hate it. I know as a pitcher my first pitch is down the middle letter high . Unless we are behind in game I would not ask our players to not swing at first pitch best pitch to hit in most cases. if you give me the first strike than I am going to try for a crap strike maybe 13 or higher or a fast one if your in plate area and not watching. Not really much a pitcher can do but like most we will try to get away with what we can. I am thankful for our Sponsor who helps us with cost CJS express (Sam) but I really do not like playing 5-6 innings of a game, I want him and us to get our moneys worth. Some here has questioned why we ask or bring it up but if we don't peole may think we like short games or 0-0 count. I don't and will not be afraid to say could we consider but again I will play game for as long as God permits me to be on field. I think it is great we can talk about our thoughts and concerns about life etc. As I tell the kids we can never have enough friends ands I consider you all friends even if we do not agree. |
| Feb. 4, 2013 GI | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: 1-1 count no extra foul tourney Fairness good question, I am faced with that question almost daily as a counselor at school . Sometimes a majority of numbers does not always give us all the facts or even the right answer sometimes, Without going into to much detail I recently was given information at school when a student was involved with an incident at school. Upon getting as much info as I could the numbers allowed us to make a decision about the situation and decision about the students involved. The numbers gave us a chance to come to a conclusion about who was wrong and some idea about what might have occured. A final decision on flawed or possible questionable results make it very difficult to pass out a fair and teachable decision. Is it fair to judge a person by a few who gave us info but at same time may have had other reasons for the stories they shared , was it true, was it changing what occured, was it making sure the result they wanted was told because they had certain feelings . I suspect we did not get all the facts because some chose not to talk, for whatever reason. With softball at our age I think no matter what, we realize we are blessed just to be here and just glad to still be a part of the game, for the love of it. For the young ones with a long future ahead we are faced with tough choices sometimes not getting all the information often leads to bitterness, anger, and as we know all to well sometimes even leading to future events that have a long lasting affect on others. Is it fair ? To me softball is a outlet , Fun but like life not always as perfect as you would like but but to be honest with softball I sleep alot better after a game than when I hear some of the stories I have to deal with on a daily basis.This is not a complaint, after 35 years I still love the challange of the kids, But when we question fairness I can tell you what our kids face is not fair. Softball is easy. With or without the 1-1 count and I would play the game tomorrow with a wood bat if it would keep me in the game. Thanks again to Terry and gang for keeping us in the game. |

Or at least try it at 40-50-55 level. I believe in terry and the rest of his team. They are fair and I think in time , it will happen. Gotta love the game no matter if it is perfect or not. What is. Is this Heaven? With some of us Heaven and eternity to play could be sooner than we think. |

Even a politian could have figured out somekind of trial - say maybe 40-55's 1-1 count for a year. Like what has been said please do not argue with those of us who like to play 7 innings and think 1st pitch down the middle should be more than shadow dressing for picture time. I will play whatever the rules are but you can believe once I give you the 1st cookie at 6-8 foot the 2nd one will take awhile unless you are looking down than I will fling the fast one and ask for 2nd strike.. Tim I agree with you many others here who do also keep asking maybe one day a trial test will result if not we can always bring in the batting tee. HA Hugs. |
