Do you need a pitcher/1st baseman. I pitched this year for 55 major team, Nor Cal Reds. Mark McDaniel. mark00asa@aol.com

Maybe that explains the food poisoning I had for a week after being at Sunset.

Discussion: Confused about players joining teams for the Worlds

If teams are short handed, they are able to pick players up. How would you like to be on a team that has lost a few players to injuries & not be able to go to the Worlds, because you were short, lets say a pitcher? There is provisions to pick up player/players to bring your team to a certain level. I believe it is 12 or thirteen. The intent is to not load up a team, but just take a reasonable amount of players, as opposed to dropping out of the tournament.

Discussion: Looking for a 50 or 55 team that needs a pitcher/1st baseman for the worlds in Vegas

I'm looking for a 50 or 55 team that is short a pitcher/1st baseman for the worlds in Vegas. I pitched for the Nor Cal Reds 55 Major team this year. The team has disbanded. I already have a room & plan on going anyway. Feel free to call me. Your team has to be short handed to be able to pick me up.

Discussion: Nor-Cal Reds Men's 55 Major

It is with mixed emotions that I am reporting that today was the last tournament that the Nor-Cal Reds will be playing. We have had a rough year trying to field a 55 Major team. With the limited amount of ball players out there to pick up & the injuries our team incurred, we are folding the team. We petitioned SSUSA to reclassify us, to no avail. We have a great core of ball players. We were in every game we played, but only won 1 bracket game in both SSUSA tournaments that we played, Southwest Nationals & Rock-n-Reno. Both of those tournaments, we had to pick up ex-Reds players that are now playing 60's, just to be able to field a competitive team. if anyone out there is interested in picking up any of our ball players, please feel free to contact me.

Discussion: How can SSUSA possibly reclassify an established Major+ team

The forfeit came well into the game, as Top Gun III was getting beat up pretty badly by Fangrabbers. Top Gun felt that there were a few calls that weren't called fairly & took exception to the umpires on the field, which in turn led to the ejections & subsequent forfeit.

You'll never guess who went into the Championship game undefeated in the 55 major bracket?

I just can't for the life of me understand how they can be reclassified without playing . They finished 3rd in the worlds, at the major+ level. Plus, they won the TOC's in Florida!

Discussion: How can SSUSA possibly reclassify an established Major+ team

I am totally perplexed. A well known Major+ team gets reclassified before a major tournament? Why would they piss off 8 teams, to appease 1? Could it be that they have less than 4 returning players? I really doubt it. Maybe 7 or 8 guys all of a sudden have doctors excuses.. I tried to start a new AAA team with 4 major players and the balance of AAA players & was denied. As a major team we finished in last place, 3 out of 4 tournaments. Were we the strongest players on the team? No. Yet 5 of our ball players went to a AAA team & they stayed AAA, because those guys got medical exemptions. That AAA team turns around & wins a few different SSUSA AAA tournaments. How could this be?
I have played by the book, for my SSUSA career. I've been beaten by the Snow Bird rule, by a guy who works for Valdosta, Georgia recreation department. Does anyone really think he could reside in the beautiful resort state of Oregon, for 3 months out of the year? I don't think so.
I have managed Major & Major+ teams. Sour Grapes? No way. I've won more than my fair share of National tournaments.I just want what is fair. I may never even have to play this new Major team, this coming weekend. But every team that loses to them, will be thinking twice about playing in any future tournaments.
I didn't name names, but people will figure it out. Please explain to me how this keeps happening! Do people really have bend the rules, just to win? I guess so.

Discussion: Tournament in Concord

I, as a manager will never bring another team to Concord. I have managed teams for many years & we quit playing in Concord because of the same problem, TERRIBLE BALLS. They have used better balls in the last few years, to attract teams back to Concord & then BAM, Here we go again. A previous post asked why we didn't just walk away & refuse to play. We all look forward to playing tournaments & most of us live quite a distance from the park. To suggest that we show up & not play is silly. The only greater disapointment in my aged years, is when a tournament gets rained out. We came, We played & We shall never return to Concord/Antioch.
