Discussion: When were Teams Moved in Class?

Per SS-USA, new teams are rated based on the last rating/division that 6 or more of the players participated in. If you have 6 or more players rated as Major (played Major or the Team was bumped to Major) the new team is rated Major. The same rule applys to teams that are bumped and break-up (6 or more players are considered the same old team).

Sal, you can play for more than one team in a tournament in different age divisions, as long a you are not playing down 2 divisions. Is D & K going to have a 60 team?

Dana, you should be ok to play 60-AAA this weekend, since you didn't play with the 55-Majors last week. Check with SS-USA but you may encounter a problem if you start playing Major 55 and then going over to play 60AAA also. Check with Fran or Terry in the SS-USA office.

Discussion: Anyone know the date and place of 2008 SPA?

I spoke with the SPA office last week. They have yet to nail down the location for the Major and Major Plus divisions. Per the office they hope to have a location selected by the end of this or next week.

Bob 'The Wood, FYI, later in the tournament the directors in KC reversed the illegal bat ruling by the Umpire. They informed us that the original Easton Synery bat was legal, and that the player who had been suspended had been re-instated. A player on one of the opposing teams we played was allowed to swing the bat in question later in the tournament.

Discussion: Teams Playing Down

That's the way the rule was explained to us. Per the SS-USA staff, 6 or more players from a teams previous roster carries the same classification or higher. This means 6 players from a 50 Major team moving up to the 55 division would be rated 55 Major or Major Plus. They would have to play at the Major/Major Plus level until re-classified by the Senior Rating board.

II feel teams playing in down in a lower age bracket s/b allowed to play one level lower, when using players from their age division only. As far as dropping out of a tournament, this is very difficult and expensive if you are traveling out of town (airfare/hotels). Most teams make their travel plans for out of town tournaments 2-months in advance, which make’s dropping out of tournament at the last moment because you may have to play against a different age group or division impractical!!

Discussion: New Format for 50's and 55's

That would be GREAT! It would mean us working guys would have to miss fewer days from work and for teams w/o a sponsor reduced hotel cost. The guys on my team would gladly play more games in a day (earlier and or later) if it resulted in a reduction in the number vacation days we have to take from work.

Discussion: Who will play in Oxnard on April 21-22? LVSSA, April 28-29?

NCI Mens Major 55 will be playing in the LVSSA in Las Vegas April 28-29. We would have also played Oxnard based on the previous scheduled dates of 4/21-22.
