Discussion: SSUSA AND SPA MEETINGS

SPA/SS-USA, can you please publish/share with us the guidelines/procedure for requesting a player re-classification for medical reasons. Example, is an actual doctors letter required. What's the time table for applying, after the injury and before the season starts, during the season and or etc..

Thanks,
Phillip

Discussion: Re: USA National Game Teams

Just wondering why at the end of the season (August 30th) and 4-weeks before the Worlds the SS-USA organization announces a change to the way the number 1 and 2 team tournament seeds are determined? Per the update from SS-USA on this site on 8/30, the number 1 and 2 World tournament seedings will now be automatically awarded to the Eastern and Western National champions. I like the idea, but IMO it makes more sense to make these types of changes at the start of a season and not right before the season ends and the Worlds are played.

Just doesn't seem right, IMO!!!

Discussion: Top Gun Tournament, Aug 24 & 25

Just spoke with Tiffany at the SSUSA office at 4pm today (tuesday)regarding the schedule which was promised for Monday and then Tuesday. Per Tiffany, the schedule will be available whenever its posted and there isn't anyone available to talk to me about it, WOW!!! Fee's were due Aug. 1st and paid on time, but we can't get a schedule or talk with someone 3-days before the tournament, that's poor customer service, IMO.

Wow,

Just noticed that 'zero' 60-age group teams are signed up to play in Reno. Must be a type-O. If not I,m glad West Coast All-stars decided not to attend.

Discussion: Sal Silva Passed Away 1/28/2013

Sal Silva from So. California (D & K, NCI and Burbank/Glendale softball leagues , ...) one of our fellow senior softball players passed away last night from Lou Gehrig's disease.

Sal was a regular participant in senior tournaments and Glendale/Burbank softball leagues. Sal always had a smile and encouraging words for anyone he encountered. He was also a regular contributor to this message board and an expert on the latest softball bats and gear.

I will personally miss his friendly smile, great personality and my conversations with him. He left us way to early, but I feel sure he will be an all star on the big Guys team above.

As of this posting funeral arrangements are pending.

Please include Sal's family in your prayers.

Discussion: What should a healthy senior program look like?

Tim,

I personally would prefer to see documented rules/guidelines for determing roster composition and for how/when teams are moved down/up. The frequest use of arbitrary decisions by senior softball exec's has left a number of teams with a bad impression of the process.

Tim, your idea of limiting the number of players that can return to a team that wins a world tournament, might increase the number of teams willing to move to Major Plus and their chances of being competitive.

I think all your suggestions have merit. Hopefully they will be considered by senior softball.
