| April 21, 2009 Sweet P | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: LVSSA 55 Major Results Mike, sorry to hear about your injury. So now you have no choice but to listen to the doctor and drop a few!!! Hopefully you will be back in the game and we will see each other in Georgia. Don 'OLR', we were looking forward to playing, but 3-guys were injured the prior weekend in Oxnard and couldn't play. We plan on playing the Senior Olympics in Riverside, May 2-3, and Reno at the end of May. Congratulations to Master Collision on winning the LVSSA tournament. Phillip Cobbs, West Coast All-Stars |
| April 9, 2009 Sweet P | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: Oxnard Gold Coast Spring Challenge - Results Men 55+ Ken and John, are you guys 'Double Nicols and OTE' considering playing Oxnard on June 6 & 7? It's a lot closer to L.A. and the Valley than Menifee. |
| April 7, 2009 Sweet P | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: Oxnard Gold Coast Spring Challenge - Results Men 55+ Mike, Have you received the tournament schedules for Double Nicols or OTE? Kenny L., congrats on Mesquite, when and were r u guys playing next, we are looking for tournaments in May besides Reno. P Cobbs, West Coast |
| April 2, 2009 Sweet P | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: LVSSA Spring Classic April 18 &19 What 55-major teams plan on playing in Las Vegas on April 18th and 19th? |
| March 31, 2009 Sweet P | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Spa Ratings compared to SSUSA ratings Bob, I received a response from Rr. Henessy, dening our appeal and informing me that he would only re-consider our appeal and current roster, after we played in 3 SS-USA events. So I guesse we will have to waste our money and time playing '3' SS-USA tournaments if we want Mr. H. to consider the facts contained in our appeal versus the recommendations of the secret comittee. Isn't senior softball just GRAND!!! |
| March 23, 2009 Sweet P | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Spa Ratings compared to SSUSA ratings Sal, I though the 60-division played Friday - Sunday, just like the 50 & 55 divisions. That will be tuff on guys still working! Are you guys playing in Oxnard on April 4 and 5, we will be playing our first of possibly 3-SS-USA tournaments for the year.We are planning on playing Las Vegas on April 18 & 19. Hope to see you guys. |
| March 20, 2009 Sweet P | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Spa Ratings compared to SSUSA ratings Bob, I'm still waiting for a for a response/ruling to the appeal I sent to SS-USA a couple of weeks ago regarding our re-classification. I guess it takes time to poll the special comittee!!! Thers no way we should be denied, seeing that Master Collision who won a World Championship and defeated us when we met, can be allowed to play Majors and not us. Is GSF playing in SPA's Palm Springs tournament the weeked of June 13/14? |
| March 11, 2009 Sweet P | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Spa Ratings compared to SSUSA ratings Joe, how r u doing and who are you playing with this season. Tell George and Steve I said hello. Phil Cobbs |
| March 11, 2009 Sweet P | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Spa Ratings compared to SSUSA ratings Joe, I agree with Wes. When an association such as SS-USA uses an un-named 'secret' comittee to make arbitrary re-classifications w/o sharing the citeria and or reason for their decisions and or having a current team roster, something is wrong. Add to this that a number of teams who had successful seasons in 2008, and who expected to be moved up haven't been, makes you wonder who's on those secret comittees. Well at least SPA has a stated criteria for moving teams up/down and for making appeals w/o having to spend your limited dollars playing in tournaments in the wrong clasifications. Hopefully the senior organizations will recognize this problem and work together and come up with an open, documented and less subjective and secret process for rating teams. |
| March 5, 2009 Sweet P | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: 55 Super Major Re-Classifications Sal, how can a team like Master Collision that one a World Tournament in 2008 be dropped to Major. But our team that didn't when one tournament or finish above 4th place in 2008 and looses 3 top players to boot, be bumped to Super Major. I am swaiting for someone to actually explain their rationale for this move...... |
| March 5, 2009 Sweet P | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: 55 Super Major Re-Classifications This is phillip Cobbs from the West Coast All Stars, our team has been re-classified as a 55 Major Plus team, despite not finishing above 4th place in any tournament in 2008 and loosing 3 of our top hitters to other teams (super major). Something is NOT Right!!!!!! We are attempting to work with SS-USA to correct this problem, we will let you how it goes. |
| Nov. 14, 2008 Sweet P | Topic: Players looking to join a team Discussion: Couple of players looking for a 55 team in 2009 We are a 55-major team out of So.Cal, if stll looking give me a call (323) 449-0459. |
| June 6, 2008 Sweet P | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: SSUSA Announces Major-Plus Task Force Bob W. and Task Force, I would like to recommend that you consider allowing pitchers to pitch based on USSSA pitching rules (pumps/fakes/etc). This would allowed skilled pithchers in the upper divisions a few more pitching options when facing major level hitters. Phillip Cobbs, West Coast All-Stars |
| May 21, 2008 Sweet P | Topic: Teams looking for players Discussion: SoCal 55 Major Team, Needs a 'Good' Fielding Shortstop or 2nd baseman So. Cal. '55' major division team looking to add a good fielding Shortstop or 2nd baseman. Team will be playing in the SPA, Las Vegas and SS-USA worlds. If interested email me at pcobbs1010@juno.com. |
| Feb. 4, 2008 Sweet P | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: When were Teams Moved in Class? Per SS-USA, new teams are rated based on the last rating/division that 6 or more of the players participated in. If you have 6 or more players rated as Major (played Major or the Team was bumped to Major) the new team is rated Major. The same rule applys to teams that are bumped and break-up (6 or more players are considered the same old team). |

| Jan. 18, 2008 Sweet P | Topic: Players looking to join a team Discussion: Looking for a team 55+ Sal, you can play for more than one team in a tournament in different age divisions, as long a you are not playing down 2 divisions. Is D & K going to have a 60 team? |
| Jan. 18, 2008 Sweet P | Topic: Players looking to join a team Discussion: Looking for a team 55+ Dana, you should be ok to play 60-AAA this weekend, since you didn't play with the 55-Majors last week. Check with SS-USA but you may encounter a problem if you start playing Major 55 and then going over to play 60AAA also. Check with Fran or Terry in the SS-USA office. |
