Discussion: 60 Years Old in Indiana

My name is John Sutherin although a few of you may know me as Opie. I am looking for a 60 team for the 2021 season. I played with Keith Turner last year in the Dayton Legends organization. However that team is not playing this year. I have played with the Brickyard out of Indy, Windy City Thunder out of Chicago and Blue Grass out of Kentucky in the past. I can catch, DH and play first. I pitched a little last year but it's not my strong suit. I have hit for both power and average depending on the situation but I don't run well. Willing to play down if necessary and available for the Brickyard Tournament. Any other questions please feel free to contact me at "southerinman@gmail.com"

Dennis if you haven't heard from anyone yet you could contact the management over at Midwest park. That's where the senior league played last year and I suppose will play again this year. I'm sure they can put you on contact with the right people.

I haven't swing that version but I have used both the original white 1 piece and the black 2 piece. While I thought they had decent pop I like the psycho series better.

Discussion: MIKEN ULTRA 2 WITH ASA2000 / ISF HAS A "W" MELTED IN THE END CAP

When I was in my late 40's (now 59) and knew I was going to be playing senior ball at 50 I bought a bunch of thiese off local players who had no place/league they could swing them in. I believe I currently have 6-7. Split evenly between ASA stamped and no stamp. Couple general questions in case anyone knows. I have heard that the first number in the serial number indicates year it was produced? When did they start senior stamping them?

Discussion: 58 Indiana Player looking

58 year old (59 in Sept) looking to play in Indy. I am currently on a 50's team out of Dayton but we will not be playing Indy this year. Since Midwest is less then an hour away I was hoping to play there this year. Is there a 55 team needing a fill in or possibly a regular player? I was rated as 55 AAA last year playing for a team out of ILL but they disbanded over the winter. I can catch, 1st or DH. Have hit for both power and avg. in the past. My name is John Sutherin although you may know me as Opie. If interested please feel free to contact me at "Southerinman@gmail.com". Ty in advance.

Discussion: Looking to join a 55 AAA or Major team or a 60 major team

Jim, this is John Sutherin (Opie). I didn't hear about the team folding until after the first of the year either. I was looking for a 55 AAA team as well but wasn't able to find one. I did managed to find a new 50's team being formed over in the Dayton Legends organization although I know that dosen't help you. I would still be interested in finding a 55's team as well although I'm not eligible for 60's until next year.

The team I played with started at 55M last. It was Chi Town 55's with George Rhear as the coach. On the last rersting there was a team of the same name but with a different coaches name (Glen Ellyn) that was dropped to 55AAA.BIhave sent a couple emails out to other players and the coach but haven't gotten any reply yet.

Is there a way for a player to find his rating index? I don't see it listed under my information.

Discussion: Indiana Mike AA/AAA 60+

Mike, sorry to hear of a Brickyard team breaking up. That the organization I started with back in 2010. I know of a couple players up in the Kokomo area who are looking but we don't qualify for 60's until next year. Maybe we can get some response from other Indiana guys and get something going.

Nancy, I actually started playing with Brickyard back in 2010 and played with Mike, Cootch, Mark and Walt for a couple years. I'm that loud red haired guy they put behind the plate now and then but always let bat. I would be interested in knowing more about where Indy senior leagues are playing this year. I am still working though and have to consider the alarm going off at 5 am next morning. A little more information about me I took a look at the ratings and apparently Chitown 55's were dropped back to 55 AAA at the tail end of last year. I believe this make me eligible for 50 AA and AAA as well as 55AAA. I would be considered 1 of the 3 upgrade players for a 55 AA team. I am currently 58 and will turn 59 in Sept so could actually play 60's in the early bird tournaments at the end of this year. I do plan on playing my local leagues this year to try and keep skills from getting rusty. I was also given contact information for Mr. Shoaf over in LaF and will be contacting him about their BP and get togethers.

My name is John Sutherin although your more likely to know me as Opie. Last year I played for Chitown 55s (M) and was looking to return but apparently they have folded this year. The year before I played for "Blue Grass" (50 AAA) and have played for "Brickyard (50AAA)" and "Windy City (50AAA & M) before that. Last couple years I have been catching and DH although I think I could fill in down at 1st as well. I have hit for both power and average in the past but do not run well. I will be 59 in Sept of this year. I live in the Kokomo IN area about an hour north of Indy. If your looking and believe I have a chance to help your team please contact me at "southerinman@gmail.com".

Discussion: Question for Dave/ SSUSA Staff..I have a 30oz senior bat and want a 28oz endload, can you send to manufacturer to change?and be legal

I have no idea about getting a bat reweighed but a quick search on eBay found 3-4 different years of Demarini "The One" senior bats listed. Not sure which one your looking for but it's another option if you haven't already checked.

Discussion: Are you serious.

Since this thread has brought up the topic of bat testing I have a question. It was stated earlier that "if you use it and it then fails testing you will lose your reputation and risk being banned". If a bat fails testing how do you determine the cause of it's failure. I have and still swing some OG U2's. The only 1 of these bats I have that I can definitely tell you the number of swings on it is an 04 version that is still in the wrapper. I guess my question is to SSUSA staff. If a bat fails testing is the owner automatically assumed guilty or will there be further investigation?

I realize this thread was about a helmet but does anyone have more information on this accident? I went thru Google and saw a couple write ups. Nothing was said about which association, if bat was tested or any possible legal action.

Discussion: Older Miken U2

I have 6-7 U2's, all pre senior stamp (2008?). Started buying them in my late 40's because I planned on playing senior ball. From the information I have been able to gather 03's were the only ASA stamped bats,04-08 have no stamps. As far as refurbished OG Ultra's I was told the only way to tell is to remove the grip. If it's gray instead of black then it's an OG Ultra with altered to decals from the Miken factory. I found a lot of information here. http://forums.softballfans.com/threads/the-pre-2007-miken-ultra-ii-buyers-guide.1179828/
