Discussion: Brickyard Tournament Indianapolis

I was skeptical on Friday like many others. After playing on Saturday and Sunday in the Brickyard, I'm glad we played. The fields were in very good condition, the outfields were a little wet Saturday morning(not unplayable by any means) but by the start of the double elimination they were just fine. Fields were even better on Sunday. Good job by the Park staff to get the fields ready! Bottom line: I understand the concern before the tournament but if you're team dropped out and your guys were hungry to play, then you missed a good weekend to play. The weather was plenty warm enough as well.

Discussion: SLIDING!!

100 plus times? Either you are really fast or slow! Just kidding, lol! didnt mean guys slide and try to hurt someone, but accidents happen! In retrospect I guess a guy should be able to slide if he wants to!

Discussion: SLIDING!!

JB Texas: in some cases you are right about sliding might prevent an injury but in most cases I would disagree, also it puts the defensive player in jeopardy when someone slides in to them! In my day I have seen more injuries from guys sliding or being slid into! Once again at our ages preventing injuries should be the number 1 concern! FYI, I dont know Ridge very well or his past, just didnt like his comments or explanations! Lets just say he made a very unchristian like comment heard by others!

Discussion: Spa and Ridge Hooks

I know this is a SSUSA site but was just curious of anyone elses views on Spa and Ridge Hooks! Its only my second year of senior ball and already know of 2 instances where Ridge and Spa have been kind of shady, not going to mention specifics but was just wondering of others experiences with them! When I first met Ridge last year I thought heres a guy who is straight forward and all about ethics, however after witnessing some things and listening to some of his BS, I am not so sure!

Discussion: SLIDING!!

Any sliding rule would be a SMART idea! Once we reach 50 we should just be playing for FUN on and off the field! No reason to get anyone hurt!

Discussion: Hypocrisy

Have played softball in Vegas several times, great place to go, but only Arroyo Complex is really worthy of a Major softball tourney! Great place for fun though!

Taits dont knock Ohio, its a great part of the country! There is a single complex in Columbus, Ohio called Berliner with 16 fenced and lighted fields, 6 of them have a new type turf fields that can be played on during the rain or right after downpours! Its not the old type turf that is dangerous either, was very imppressed with it! There is also about 12 other diamonds without fences as well! All the diamonds are well maintained as well! Just saying!

Our team will not go back to Lansing unless we get it in writing we will be playing at the main complex and not in Potterville! Too much money and travel to play in a dump!

Agree Liberty Park would be a much better place, they have like 11 fields or so and are well maintained! Plenty of blacktop parking like you said and a nice big AIR CONDITIONED restaurant/bar inside the complex! Have played there many times over the years and will be playing there in September with my younger guy team! Also would be nice to have all teams at the same complex like they do in the SPA in Dalton, Ga.

Meant to say Lake Alliance not Liberty park in my response above!

That Capp Steel/Universal game Sunday was an AWESOME game to watch! It was a shame somebody had to lose that game! I sat on the bench up against the concession stand and watched most of the game! I think the fans from both teams wanted to win this game more then the players, lol, they sure cheered alot for both teams!

Must agree 100%, no reason to have a big tournament at such a low quality complex like liberty park! No way I would want to go back to this tournament if this complex is used again! Only positive things was the concession stand workers were friendly and the Bar called Charlies by the complex!

Discussion: obscure rules?

Cal 50, I actually like the rule to go up 1 in the bottom of the 7th! The usual way favors the visiting team! If the homers are even going into the 7th, you allow the visiting to be able to hit 1 and if they FAIL then the Home team cant! Why reward a team for failing? Also if the Home team plays it smart and stays 1 down till the end then they have earned the right to hit 2! Visiting team has the same options to be smart with the homers! Understand both sides but this is my opnion!

In my 2 years in senior ball I have noticed alot of inconsistency in the tournament formats and home run rules! Have played both SPA and SSUSA! Not sure why!

Good game in Sylvania Universal! Our games always seem to be close just like last year in Sylvania in the Championship game! You guys are a class act and fun to play against!
