| Jan. 31, 2012 pitcher55 | Topic: Players looking to join a team Discussion: Looking to play in some 40 & over tourneys. i disagree. if you have good control, and can work the batter, you can easily adapt to a 10-12' arc. go for it scoot. |

| Dec. 24, 2011 pitcher55 | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Rule change Interaction an individual player poll would be wise.mailed to every player.list the rules that many are questioning.yes or no,with options.we the players, respond back on line or by mail. majority rules!!the majority will enjoy the tourneys even more!! ssusa would begin growing faster. dennis wiley "lights out" 55aaa socal. |
| Dec. 24, 2011 pitcher55 | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Ever Been Personally Polled 2nd season in ssusa. played 9 tourneys last year. about 125 events over the years with the young guys. i organized and ran 44 tourneys from '95 to 2010. i listened to my managers and their players.i made a number of changes, by listening to what they wanted, every change was good. we played the way the majority wanted it. the tourneys kept getting bigger each year. i am in total agreement, that a plyers poll, would be very helpful. not every player could respond on line.it would have to go thru mail. dennis wiley "lights out" 55aaa #7. |
| Dec. 17, 2011 pitcher55 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Fortunate Expounded we are all very fortunate to have the opportunity to still play.ssusa is a very well ran organization.we pay them good money and they provide a good service.without ssb,i would be playing more golf and going fishin' more with my wife. |
| Dec. 17, 2011 pitcher55 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Do you guys thank.... yes,i am very thankful for all the good things in my life. ssusa is a business, and they are in it to make a profit.rightfully so. when i go into any business,i expect good customer service and a thank you from them, for me choosing to spend my hard earned money in their store. they spend a portion of their profit on advertisising,to bring the customers in.good customer service doesn't cost anything, and will encourage that customer to come back again and again. when a clerk hands me my change and turns away,i stand there until they ask if i need anything else. i answer, yes, a thank you.i remind them the importance of good customer service.if they cop an attitude,i'll give the manager the opportunity to show me,that he appreciates my business.if they don't,i'll spend my money where they do. |
| Dec. 16, 2011 pitcher55 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Fortunate thank you ssusa for providing us the oportunity to keep playing this game that we love. three years ago i retired from playing. just couldn't compete with the young men anymore. after sitting out a year, i discovered senior ball!! what a blast!!! i'm hoping to play into my 70's. dennis wiley lights out #7. |
| Dec. 14, 2011 pitcher55 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: CR it allows me to keep playing, without getting hurt running. both of my hips have been replaced. two lower back surgeries, and lots of athritis. i can get to 1st,but always get a runner. i cover my position ( pitcher)very well. just can't run without pain and not too fast. |
| Dec. 3, 2011 pitcher55 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: JAN. 2012 HELP socal is having a tourney dec. 10-11,in lancaster,ca. |
| Nov. 26, 2011 pitcher55 | Topic: Teams looking for players Discussion: Third Baseman desert,i'm am sure you are a very good ballplayer and fearless at 3rd.your last post was a little too strong for most managers looking for a player.if i was looking for a player your age, i would not have replied to your post. you came across arogant and full of yourself. most mgrs. are looking for TEAM PLAYERS.if you tone it down, post once a week, and be patient,i believe your opportunity will come.best of luck to you, dennis. |
| Nov. 16, 2011 pitcher55 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Safety Questions TATTOOBALL, on jan.4,2010,you posted ssusa reports 9 pitchers killed since 2002. i started playing senior ball feb.,2011. the next month, i got into a thread here, and reported the same thing,as i googled the subject. i cannot find it. could you help? |
| Nov. 15, 2011 pitcher55 | Topic: Bats Discussion: Veteran CORE is almost ready....... gates24,when do you think the orders will be filled? i know you've had some problems getting everything going.with so many players waiting for delivery, and others waiting to order, maybe you could give us an update every week. thank you. |
| Nov. 15, 2011 pitcher55 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Safety Questions i've pitched for 40 years. been carried off the field twice, once loaded into an ambulance.been hit plenty other times.i'm 58 and into my 2nd senior season.i have a face mask, catcher leg guards, and of coarse a cup. i'm ordering a chest protector. i've had many balls hit up the middle and very close, that had so much VELOCITY,i did not have time to move my glove one inch!! a shot like that can and has killed several pitchers in ssusa, and other organizations. just google it and see for yourself. still,i have other body parts that are not protected.recently in so. calif., where i play alot,a pitcher was hit in the arm.a metal plate and 8 screws put him back together. i think he's done playing. it only takes one!! i know every pitch i throw, could be my last.i love this game too much to quit. both of my hips are titanium,2 lower back surgeries, both shoulders done, and 2 on my hand.i don't move nearly as quick side to side as i once did, but am considered a very acurate pitcher. when i get a hard shot back at me,IF i have the time,i'm stepping to the side and gloving it. i have 2 senior bats, but would gladly quit useing them if everyone else would. the bats have changed this game alot.it's much more dangerous and hurts the defensive part of the game.when pitchers feel the need to pack on this armour, and sign a waiver if they don't wear a mask, doesn't that show how much the bats have changed this game? |
