Yes it was the first one we played in. Was hoping to find something close to home just to get some swings in before Tennessee. After watching the video I need the practice.

Discussion: Headed to Arkansas Memorial week

Traveling to Arkansas, Monticello to visit family. Will be there a week. If anyone needs a player to play league close by while I am there I would be interested. If not, if anyone will be hitting anytime before Saturday June 3 and wouldn't mind me joining in let me know. I can be emailed at samnkelli1@msn.com. Really would like to get some swings in before my travel team goes to the Smokey Mtn Classic June 9-11. Help a softball brother out. :-)

Discussion: Dudley Lightning 2

I purchased the new Dudley EL. Due to living in Ohio I just got the opportunity to swing indoors using a tee. I took 200 swings with the bat and after about 50 the ball was significantly coming off a lot faster. I then hit 25 balls to a specific I location at the end of the net. Again the bat appeared to be opening up more still. I also would squeeze the barrel after each 5 and could notice as I flexed it in a little more give. I have swung the original combat dirty or reebok Melee and swore by them. But this year I think I found another bat for my gamer. I play 55AAA and stand 5' 10" and weigh solid 212. I work out in off season as well as coach a local hig school baseball team and work with them. Can hit for power but try to hit for average or as the situation dictates in a game. Hope the bat durability is better than my other bats.😉

Discussion: CONGRATS TO HOF INDUCTEES

I know it has come and gone but I want to say congrats to all of the HOF Inductees. Especially one that I know very well. Congrats BIG Brother, Mike Adair. I know you earned this award and would have loved to been able to fly from Ohio to be a part of it. Know that I am honored to tell everyone you are my brother. I know we are years apart and I have told you before, I have always looked up to you and made efforts to follow in your footsteps when I could. Even though our paths took different routes I still try to keep up with you on and off the field. I am proud of you and your accomplishments, and hope that someday I too will be fortunate enough to receive such an honor. Kind of hard to do if I will only play AAA. LOL I know that is what you were thinking. HAHA.

Love ya lots and very proud of you. Again, CONGRATS brother.

Sorry guys I turned it into a Mike Adair moment. Those that know him will understand. LOL

Discussion: looking to hook upith a team for Ft Myers aa or aaa.

Ron if you are still looking we are going to play SSUSA November in Ft. Myers. We are running short as some players are now unable to go. For those of us that already paid for our flights this sucks unless we can get some players to help out. We really need an outfielder for this tournament. We are Universal out of Ohio, 50 AAA if you are interested in playing give our coach a call at 614-570-5048, his name is Rick. We have a good core of guys but, just like others, we come up short at times. Give Rick a call.

AAA Team in Ohio looking to add depth to our outfield. We are a self sponsored team, we have a solid group of guys that get along and do not want drama. We have a great group of guys. We need a couple of more outfielders for tournament ball. We have enough part time players and in fielders at this time. We are looking for players that are committed and loyal to the team. If interested send me an email to samnkelli1@msn.com
We are out of the Columbus area.

Discussion: Memories From Yesterdays Gone By

I enjoyed both stories myself guys thanks for sharing. My story is kind of long but one I remember like yesterday. It still brings a tear to my eyes telling it.

I did not start playing ball competitively until I was 9 years old and had just moved to Arkansas. I was raised by a single mother with my youner sister and well my biological father was never around, guess he had his own agenda.

I was in 4th grade class and heard the try out announcement. I went to the office on lunch break and called my mother to see if I could try out. She said sure if you want to. I told her I did not have a glove and needed one. She did not know what I needed but I told her to get me one that is for a right handed thrower and bring it to McCoy park at 330pm. I did not make the Little League team, but was drafted by the Pirates in Minor League. Yeah the glove was stiff as a board and I don't think I caught one ball.

I started as a catcher that year and made the all stars. My mother never got to see me play as she worked two jobs to support us.
I was drafted the following year to the Little League Cubs. Since the coaches son was the catcher I knew I was not going to see much playing time. One day the coach told me I would start since his son was sick on the next game. My mother came to the game and I was all excited.
When we came off the field between the 2nd and 3rd inning I ran to get some water from a spicket we used to drink from, no water fountains or coolers back then. As I was going by some other teams, one of them swumg a bat and hit me right across my nose, I tried as hard as I could to cover it up so my mother would not see as I had to run back past her. But blood was everywhere. I ran into the dug out and sat down, in ran my mother. I told her I was ok and she needed to get out. The coach said, "son I don't think you will be able to go back in the game." Now that brought me to tears more than the hit. I told him I was ok and my mother was here and no way I was sitting out. I was fine.
I finished the game as the catcher with black eyes and a cracked nose! I got two hits and stole a base and threw two guys out trying to steal on us! I was moved to CF that year and my mother never got to see me play Little League or Babe Ruth.
She has been to some of my softball games as an adult and when she gets a chance to visit me in another state. I have even sent her videos of some of my games. Oh yeah, I still have that 5 and dime glove she bought me when I was 9. See she worked as a waitress and did not have the money and a gentleman that was in the resturant gave her a big enough tip to purchase it when she was crying because she did not know what to do. She married that guy later on and he was more of a father to me than my own. I know he is up there watching me and Mike play today, as Pops too played a big role in what I am today.

Mike did you ever know that Pops did this?

Discussion: Cure for AAA after 3rd HR!

I think some AAA teams do not move up because in the region you play there are not that many Major teams around and they will play the same teams all the time. I think there is no easy "fix" to the HR rule for AAA level that all will be happy with. I play AAA and we do hit on an occassion our limit of three and there have been a couple of tournaments where we hit over the limit, it even cost us a tournament when we hit three consecutive for outs! But again, not complaining just stating my opinion. In the midwest you may see several Major teams listed or not but the fact remains to play more than one particular team all year long you stay at AAA. I am not a large person body wise but I do hit the ball hard. When we are out of HR I try to not hit the middle out of respect and change my pitch selection as well as where in the zone the ball is when I hit it. Do I think I can play Major, yep, will I, not unless my fellow team mates make a decision to move up. Does that make me a sandbagger, not at all. It makes me loyal to a group of guys that are loyal to me. :-) See you on the diamonds when the snow melts.

Discussion: The way softball was played back when:

I have been playing this sport since I could at the age of 18 and in the military. I want to thank one person that motivated me the most to excell in it, my brother Mike aka softball4b. He taught me that sportsmanship is the best tool in a bat bag, he also taught me that as long as you play this sport you will have someone to jawjack you to get into your head. I never let that bother me until reading the above posts.
I have been on this board for two years now, again thanks to Mike. And in this time I have rarely said much when people like Gary19 do a lot of "JAWJACKING". However after seeing your above comments I am going to let you get into my head when it comes to family. Dude you are the most arrogant non playing person in Ohio! I live in Ohio and have yet to see you play on any field or team competitively. If you do look me up I play for Universal Softball, I am easy to spot, I am a little guy and will out hit, out run, out throw you and if you do play and pitch, I will hit it up the middle because I do have that much bat control! Sorry guys but everytime I get on here this person has nothing but negative to say to anyone about anything and is really a nobody! I know I should not have let it bother me but enough is enough. If I get blocked for my comments I can only ask ahead of time what do I have to do to get back on here. Now I feel a little better. Hey Mike! Miss ya brother!

Discussion: What 50 teams are playing in Northern Championship in Lansing?

Thanks Dave for the compliments. You can loosen the noose some though it effects my batting average, causes me to pull off the ball.
Hopefully we will be as successful as we were in Toledo a couple of weeks ago. On Sunday we played like a team and won as a team.
Like I told you when I joined the team, we will win as a team or lose as a team. If I move up it will be because the team was moved up not because I jumped ship.

Hey Mike, thanks for pointing me in the direction of Senior Softball, it has been an excellent ride. Hope to see you soon.

The guy who jumped the fence would not be Chip on the players looking for a team in Mi or Ohio would it? Says he bats 700 with good speed.

Just curious.
