JAH#4...alias Donny the Demon...If you are going to Fort Myers this weekend, bring it with you. If you want to be reasonable about the SSSSS, I'll take it off your hands. Leave a message here or shoot me an e-mail about where you'll be. I'm leaving in the early AM tomorrow, so make it today if possible. Hope to see you in FL.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

\"Grandfathered\" Bats no longer authorized in ASA beginning in 2008

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK, November, 6 2006 — The Amateur Softball Association of America (ASA), the National Governing Body of Softball in the United States, today announced that under a resolution adopted by the ASA Board of Directors, bats submitted by manufacturers that were previously allowed a 2 mph variance in the ASA’s test standards are no longer authorized for use in ASA Championship Play effective January 1, 2008.

Commonly referred to by players and coaches as “grandfathered” bats, these bats were allowed a 2 mph testing variance under the terms of an agreement the bat manufacturers and ASA negotiated in the fall of 2003. These terms will no longer be in effect on January 1, 2008 thus making these bats illegal for use in ASA Championship Play.

According to the list provided to ASA under the terms of the agreement with each manufacturer, the following bats will be placed on the non approved list on January 1, 2008

Easton
Synergy2

Miken
Freak

Louisville Slugger

SB304

SB404

Worth
XGOLD-Fastpitch
XRED-Fastpitch
XPST4
WWSCA

Dave...I notice that the main grid has 55AAA playing at Cape Coral, but the schedule draft says Lee County Complex. You might want to correct one of them to avoid any confusion.

Discussion: It's Time For Our SSUSA Msg. Board To Achieve Full Identification Disclosure!

Although I do agree that people should be held accountable for what they say in a public forum, my experience has been that the message boards which require identity disclosure seem to dry up rapidly. This is a very lively board, and i would hate to see it wither, JMHO

In my opinion, the awards at this tournament were a disgrace. The towels and balls for the individuals were pretty sad, but the sponsor's plaque for second place at a world championship tourney was miniscule, as was the plaque for second in the nationals (both the same size). Individual award for second in National was a hat with "national finalist" on it. JMO

Discussion: Great Tourney Fla. Crush and Thermco

I would like to add my congratulations to both The Crush and Miken/Old South. Both teams are full of class players. We always have great battles on the field, and the ability to be friends when the games are over, really makes for fun weekends.

Johnny Mac has a super team even without his 4 missing starters. I'm extremely proud of my own guys, especially the 3 that were playing out of position due to our own short numbers. With the short fences, we were able to give the Crush all that they could handle.

Special kudos to Johnny Mac for his coaching genius. We went into the bottom of the seventh in the "if" game chasing 8 runs. We managed to score 6 and load the bases with only one out. At this point, with the tying run on 2nd and the winning run on 1st, we put in courtesy runners at first and second. While the ball was still dead, we switched the 2 runners to put them in the proper position to make sure that one of them didn't come to bat while he was still on base. John protested the move by saying that since the runners had already touched the bases, we couldn't switch them, and that the lead runner, if not both of them were out.

After 15 to 20 minutes of suspended play, while attempting to find the rule (which didn't exist) in the rule book, it was decided that we could put the runners wherever we saw fit.
Even though John lost his protest, our momentum had been broken due to the stoppage of play, and the final tally was in favor of theCrush 32 to 30.

John's managerial move deserves as much credit as his players' abilities in this particular win, and I can't say that I will be sad to not have to face them all next year.

I only hope that we will be allowed to play in our own age group from now on.

Oh Yeah, Patty Mac, "Three Minutes!!!" you hound dog

Donny, You bomb tosser!!!

Thanks for the bat. It's a hair heavy for me, but I'm sure that I'll get used to it.

It was great to see all you mental rebels again. It is always a pleasure. You guys are great to be around.

I'll see you in Ft. Myers this coming weekend. Please post your e-mail, or e-mail me at my Dad's in Stuart, FL. (bilmc@adelphia.net) as I am visiting with him between these 2 tourneys, and I don't have your e-mail addy with me.

Discussion: Fran 44 or Billy Mac

Donny...You are confused about Fran44...He is one of our outfielders.

You're getting him mixed up with Stu. Stu is the coach, who has the son with MS. Matt had another seizure just this past week, so your prayers are well placed. He is recovering slowly, getting better every day (until the next one). Matt is a great kid, and it breaks Stuey's heart when these seizures get Matt. It is the emegency squad to the hospital every time, and it just plain sucks.

Stu will be with us in FL for both weekends, barring the unforeseen. I look forward to seeing you, and I have a real nice EASTON bat for you, so that you can finally get rid of those MIKENS.

Donny...We have decided not to go to the WSL. I couldn't get a definitive answer from the TD, and don't want to pay $8K to play you guys. Good luck in that tourney, and hopefully we'll see you at the winter nationals in Nov.

Lynn...You are right on target. The N.C. trip was one of the most enjoyable we attended all year. Except for the triple play, that is.

The rivalry that we have with you guys, and even more, the genuine friendship and good will that we enjoy off the field is exactly what I was hoping to find when I left the kids to come to the seniors.

I have decided to forego the WSL tourney at the end of the month, but hope to catch up with you guys in November. Until then, be well and stay healthy.
