As far as the runner goes, the batter should notify the ump when he gets in the box that he will have a runner so the ump already knows, the coach already knows and the runner already knows and time can be called and the ump notify the scorer as soon as the player reaches base safely.
That way the coach cant milk the clock inserting a runner, if the runner is not on the field in a timely manner a strike will be imposed on the next batter.

Discussion: ~~~TIMING~~~

When you are under pressure you are going to tense up so you have 2 choices.
1. you can try to think of something not related to softball to break that tense moment.
2. you can fight the feeling by actually tensing up.
As soon as the pitcher starts to throw you squeeze the bat as hard as you can.
You can only do that for a second so as you start your swing you are actually more relaxed and will swing smoother.

I would rather they do that then to restrict bats or make the balls worse.
The HR rule is a good one IMO.

You might want to pick up a cheap utrip bat, any senior will have problems in those temps.

If the CR is that big a problem why not just say the CR has to run from home on, if the batter runs to first he has to run the rest of the way?

Someone need to invent a portable fence extender, that way you can make a field play like 325.
Most fields are already set up so it would cost a lot to move the fences back and in most places it would be impossible to move them but if you could extend a fence from 6' to 10' it would make it harder to hit them and some of the line drives that clear the normal fence stay in.

I just like that ir brings some strategy to the game that would add a little gamesmanship to the last inning, if the visitors go 1 up before the last inning the rule stays the same, only if the visitors use their HR in the last inning would the home team get to use the 1 up.
It would just add a new dimension to the last inning.

But the visitors got to use the 1 up to get or pad their lead, if the home team gets to bat they are down so it gives the visitors the incentive to not go 1 up in the last inning.
It is more perception than a real advantage, the home team gets to think the 1 more HR could be the difference.
The visitors can even the HR but if they go up just thinking bomb they give the home team an extra HR to try and win with.

I agree with bruce and on the 1 up rule, I would say if the visiting team hits a HR in the last inning then the home team should be able to go 1 up in their last inning, simple and fair.

We had one come within a mile of our house saturday, with the high winds and being farm land is was spreading so fast you just had to hope it missed your house.
90% of the houses here are old wooden houses so if they start there is no hope of saving it.
The smoke here is really bad, but played in dallas tonight and it wasnt nearly as bad there.

Yea we picked up a guy a few years ago who was supposed to be good.
He could hit the ball out for sure, we were not allowed any HR, they were inning ending outs.
He hits one out while yelling boom his first AB, I remind him we dont get any HR and he just shruds.
Next AB he hits one out, again yelling boom and walks back into the dugout smiling, the bases were loaded with no outs at the time.
I ask him why he did that and he tells me he hits HR, he doesnt care because it is just league.
I am not sure what happened to him but those were his only 2 AB with my team.

The bat has a smaller sweetspot than most bat so if you are not a consistant hitter you probably wont like them.
They are balances with a lot of weight in the hands, some really like this but if you like an endload you will have to get used to the feel.
The bat holds up pretty good even in cold weather, we were hitting them in 40 degree temps and had no problem with denting.
Pop is pretty good and when you really hit it on the screws it hangs with most composite bats.
If you want to know more or if I didnt answer the question post it and i will give more details.

So you tell the guys to do their job and then when they do you go into a rant comparing yourself to people who gave their lives to make their country great.
Can you say God complex?

We always try to make it fun unless we are working on something in particular.
Sometimes we try to hit middle, yes we have a net.
Sometimes you get 10 pitches and see how many you can hit the fence, rollers that dont make a noise dont count.
Sometimes we decide to go pitch selection, it you swing at a bad pitch or dont hit it solid your turn is over.
As much as we love hitting, bp can become boring if you dont mix things up and have fun.
Normally the loser brings gatorade to the next BP.

Einstine, Those are important issues and it is great that we can debate them on a forum like this where everyone gets a say and not just the few that know the brass.
If we could have these discussions and not get into the name calling and such we would be where we need to be.
Some take things very personal and if you disagree you must be a nut case, others say things just to stir the pot, I never understood how being a jerk makes someone happy but whatever.
In some cases people talk about bats and cheating is ok as long as it isnt bad, like rolling or adding a bit of endload and then go on to say changing the equipment is a terrible thing.
Others want to change the equipment to even the playing field, thus making the game less enjoyable for some.
We can find a middle ground but not if we keep making excuses to gain an edge.
Lets make the cheaters man up and play the game the way it is supposed to be played and we wont have to worry about changing the rules or equipment like others are proposing.

In a test like this you have to use a tee, too many things to factor in with pitching.
If you did this test with live pitching and got the results we did today the first thing some would say is the pitching could make a huge difference.
If you hit line drives you wont hardly notice a difference in the ball, the difference is when you mishit it, the 52 does not reward a bad swing, I like that.
If you are a HR hitter you will still hit HR's.
I have seen a pitcher take a pretty good shot with these balls and come away with nothing more than a small bruise, that is a good thing.
If they would find a little more balance, give us a bit more performance and keep the injury factor low I wouldnt mind hitting these.
My big thing is will they make a ball with several association stamps so we can use 1 ball all the time instead of buying 3 different balls that are all the same but dont have all the stamps.

Discussion: What would you do

In league tuesday I switched from a 28 oz bat to a 26 oz and of course the pitcher throws a low outside pitch that I hit right at his feet since I was not used to the weight of the bat.
It is an auto out so i immediatly ask if he is ok but he is too mad at the ump and me to hear it, a ream mate told me he thought I was running to 1st instead of checking on him.
We talked after the inning, I didnt apologise but I did let him know I didnt hit him on purpose.
He asked where he could pitch so I wouldnt hit him again and I told him anything but low outside.
Next AB he throws me a inside pitch I hit down the 3b line.
The next AB he throws the first way high and the next 2 are low outside called strikes, at that point I am going to hit the next strike even if it is low outside, if he knows I will hit him with that pitch and he uses that to try and get a K out of me then whatever happens is on him, I am not trying to hurt anyone but I am not giving myself up and giving them the out to protect him either.
