Discussion: Does This Make Sense??

The widely accepeted Rule of Thumb is:
Use the Heaviest bat that you can and still maintain your highest swing speed. Or words to that effect.

And the Rule of Thumb works well. Probably the 26-28 ounce bats will give you about 7 mph or more over the heavier bats. But at some point in time you start noticing your swing speed has slowed down to the point where you are getting about 5 mph or less speed over the heavier bat.

If the Rule of Thumb applies, then using the heavier bat may become a logical option!

hemi racer

Is it possible that 4 mph drop in bat speed could be made up for by swinging a 3 ounce heavier bat?

I have both the Reebok Melee Balanced and the Reebok Barrage first batch in the 27 ounce versions.

From what I can tell, as far as distance both bats perform pretty much the same, no substantial difference.

As far as feel the Barrage seems to swing slightly heavier. Also the Barrage seems to flex a little bit more.

The durability of the bats at this time would probably be in favor of the Melee over the Barrage first batch. READ THE ABOVE POSTS. Second batch, who knows? I will need to put more hits on each bat to get a more accurate conclusion.

Lefty

As far as I know the Reebok Barrage will not web up like the Melee Legend. Just hope it's webbing and not cracking.

I bought a 27oz Reebok Barrage Senior bat and I like it.

Since I bought it last year, I can only assume that it is a first batch model bat.

I want to buy a second batch bat but I WANT TO BE SURE I'm getting what I'm paying for. Words and promises just don't make me feel very comfortable with a purchase at this time.

There must be some proof of the batch the bat was manufactured.

How can the customer really know what they are getting?

I am not asking for proof in writing, but that would be nice.

TRUST, BUT VERIFY!!!

Discussion: gloves on throwing hand

I looked at the Saranac web site....didn't see any mention of their gloves for throwing softballs. The ones they show seem to be batting gloves.

Discussion: Swing Makeover #12.Using a Double Knobcuff for max power and the 70's Senior Bomb Squad from St. Petersburg, Fl

I could see him at a distance as he was coming down from the mountain top.

As he was walking in my direction I could see he was carrying something in his hands.

Still nearer I could see he was carrying some sort of spherical object that looked like a stone.

As he got even closer I noticed the object in his hands looked like a stone about the the size and shape of a softball. It also had some sort of inscription on it.

Now standing in front of me, he placed the object in my hand. It was a softball made of stone. I looked at it and noticed the inscription was written in English.

The inscription read....

"THOU SHALT NOT HAVE MORE THAN ONE KNOB CUFF ON A SOFTBALL BAT".

Great Information......

Especially the part about BAT WARMERS not really doing anything significant for the bats in cold weather!

Question:

Does the Reebok Barrage have a different material or paint job on the bat barrel than the Reebok Melee?

Why I ask is because I got about 80-100 hits on my Barrage and don't see any signs of webbing like I did with the Melee at about the same number of hits. Is this normal or does the Barrage need more hits to start webbing?

surf88

I have the new Reebok Barrage with about 80-100 hits on it. I don't see any webbing on the barrel at this time. Is there something different in the paint or material between the Melee and Barrage?

Can you explain what would be the difference between the Blackout and a 2014 Miken Triad 3 Maxload Two-Piece Slowpitch Bat USSSA 1.20 bat that has a full 1 year warranty?

Sunsets have been happening since who knows when.

Those fields have been there for decades.

Softball games, at all levels of play have been played there day and night, for many years without any major incidents.

Oooooops

This is the edited version....

When you talk about these numbered hits to break in a new bat, do you count balls that are hit off the handle and end of the bat or just balls that are hit ON the sweet spot of the bat?
