Reggie44 I swing the 12". I had a 13 in and traded a guy who like the 13 in better than the 12 so i now have 2 12 in. I have over 6 hundred swings on both of them, one I have about 800 swings and man is it Hot!! I love being able to swing them in batting practice.

Our 50 Major plus team the last 4 years almost always hit our limit in games. I can remember only a handfull of times we did not hit our limit. But I will say that is the way our team was built. We had a 61 yr old who hit his share when needed. As far as the bats in BP, up until this year I always used a USSSA bat in BP. Now with the Dudley Lighting I swing it in BP as well as games because of its superior durability.

OKI stood for Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana. That is state where the original players on that team were from. At the end we did have players from Michigan and Illinois.

Just wanted to say thanks to Alan for putting this together, Davey, Carlos, Bob and Jason Kendrick for taking time to help out us OLD guys. I had a blast!!!! The camp would help players from the Plus division all the way down to just rec players. The information off the field was just as or more important!! I love it when I see someone 20 years my senior and come out to woek on their game. I was impressed very much by the professionalism of the staff and the mind set of all the campers. Definitley want to go back next year!! Thanks again staff!!!!

Discussion: Tribute to one of the best!!!

Just wanted show some respect for one of the greatest HR hitters of all time, RIP Craig Elliott. I remember one season his HR to AB ratio was 1.8 At the time I believe that was the best ever. That would have been around 1988 or so. I remember playing against him and Steele's in Oklahoma City at the Super Nationals in 89. The wind was gailing from left center to home plate 30-40 Mph. The only HR's hit that day was from right center to the right field foul pole. There were 10 HR's hit that day. Mighty Mikle Macenko hit 2 to right center, Craig Elliott hit 2 to right center, Steve Sharp and David Dale hit 2 to right field and I hit 2 to right center. After the game Craig came up to me and said something like "it took a real man to hit HR's today didn't Mayo." That was one only 2 times my team ever beat them guys. Craig was one of those rare atheletes that was able to handle the bat with power like only few could. Mighty Mike and his team mates could tell you the other "Crankerism." Prayers go out to the family in this time of loss.

Discussion: 50 MAJOR & MAJOR PLUS COMBINED

Tim, OZ, tattoo I agree with you totally. If I could find 10 guys who would pay their own way I would be right there with them. Tim you guys are really blessed to have that many tourneys you can play. East of the MS river I believe there are 5-6 plus tourneys available to us here that is a reasonable drive.

Tim if you broke up Plus temas that win the worlds I believe you would have more Major teams and the reson is sponsorship. IF I had ever won Vegas and they broke my team up and I did not have sponsorship, like right now, then I would tell my guys that we should spilt up in 4's and play Major. Because our team would not be able to do the traveling like you need to do in the Plus division. I would rather play in 9-10 tourney's a year rather that 3-4 like I did last year. In our area there are only about 4-5 tourney's a year that you can drive to that will let plus teams in. Thats why we only played in 4 tourneys last year. You are right about it making more Major teams but I don't think it would make more plus teams.

My point waas that it cost more to play plus because you do have to travel to where the plus teams are playing. The logic in not finding a team is that there are only so many plus teams, I have not found one that needs a 3b,or a 1b man. I have and am willing to pay my own way. But have to have a team to play on first.

You know what is a bummer is when you want to play Major plus and you can't find a team. Thats why breaking up Plus winners will never work. Like swing says most Plus teams have sponsors. When our OKI team lost its sponsor I would never have dreamed that I would not find a Plus team to play on. Thats why we should never combine Major and Major Plus.

Discussion: Batting Tee Recommendations

Gee tee makes 2 models. They work really well and the are portable and will fit in your bat bag when taken apart. Great tee, does not tip over when you hit the ball like some of them do. They are about $120 for the taller model. Just type in Gee Tee in your browser and their web site will come up.

Dudley Lightning gets my vote as well. I've broke 4 bats in 1 weekend before. So far the lightning is the best out there!!!

Discussion: So the question was....how to get more teams to play Major Plus

I believe the only way to grow the division is to get more sponsorship. Right now there are not enough players that truly want to play in the plus division. I'm ok with that. I understand the problem but i'm a realist and know that some of the Major teams that got bumped to plus have and will struggle. If sponsorship was more available then it would help these teams to be able to pick up players out of region if they wanted to. Here again some of these teams have been together forever and do not want any other players. Out of region players cost a team anywhere from 2-6000 dollars a year. Last year we had 15 teams in the 50 Major plus world at Vegas. I know for a fact that 4 of those teams would not have been there if they were not bumped up. I say let them go back to Major division. The way it is right now is not perfect and will never be, but it is getting better. I would rather go to Vegas and have 6-8 teams that wanted to be there rather than the way it is. I guess you could say that what we have is what we will have. SSUSA has done a good job in trying to grow the division. Its just hard to do since most Major teams do not want to play Major plus. You know the old saying, you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink. Just my humble opionion.

Discussion: Factors in defining what a good hitter is

Stick, I think a guy who is successful in the late innings and when the game is on the line stays with his strength. If his strength is gap hitting then he should hit the gaps. If his strength is 6 hole then he should hit the 6 hole. Too many times I've seen guys over the years do something totally out of the norm for who they are as a hitter.

Discussion: How to get more teams willing to play in the Major-plus division

I guess your definition of a Dynasty is different than mine. We have had a different winner at Vegas for the last 5 seasons. For me if a team was a Dynasty then they would have won 3,4,5 years in a row, or 3,4,5, out of the last 5. In 50 Major+ this just has not happened in the last 5 years at Vegas. I do agree with you Tim on not making Major teams play up. But this only happens when there are not enough teams for the Plus teams to play. I think in that case they should let the Major teams know they will be playing the Plus teams in advance or not let the Plus teams in the tourney. I for one don't want to play any team that does not want to play Plus teams. I may be playing on a Major team this year. One of the questions I asked them was if they wanted to get bumped up, if so what would they do?

Some one who can do it all and you want at the plate when the game is on the line. I have seen some great hitters in Senior ball and when the game is on the line you would not want them at the plate. A consistent of all the abover make a great hitter. But give me the guy who doesn't make outs in the 5th, 6th or 7th inning.
