NEW COMBAT DIRTY
I RECEIVED MY NEW COMBAT DIRTY TUESDAY, WE HIT WITH IT AT BP WEDNESDAY MORNING WITH 44/375 TRUMPS, TEMP WAS 75-80 WHEN WE STARTED. THE BALL JUMPS OFF THIS BAT RIGHT OUT OF THE WRAPPER. 10 GUYS USED IT AND THEY WERE ALL IMPRESSED, THEY ARE ''ALL'' ORDERING ONE. I HAVE HAD THEM ALL, GRAY COMBAT, YELLOW MM, BLUE MM, REEBOK, ULTRA, THE DIRTY IS THE BEST I'VE USED SO FAR. THANK YOU MIKE KELLY

Really, do you really need to hot bat to slap the ball to right field, big guy like you should never go back side unless you have 2 strikes or game on the line and they leave right side open.

Hey Big Ron- To be honest I always thank God anytime I have pitched to you and you hit the ball away from me staying out of middle. You save my life Brother when you hit it to Right field. Thanks again for the shin guards. I sure loved that Gray Combat- Glad to hear this new one is good also. GI

I know this thread kind of got off target and considering the size of some these guys, that is hard to do, present company included.....

First of all if you are happy with your bat don't switch, I swing Reebok and I am very happy with it. Mike asked me to test The Dirty and I have no problem voicing my opinion.

I have had the opportunity to swing 3 different bats, 27oz, 28oz, and 30oz. All three were game ready within 15-20 swings. My longest shots were with the 30oz, but at my age it was just a little too much bat. They don't make a 29oz, so I bought a 28oz.

IMO

Grip - for me it is a great balance between thickness and texture. Like it better than Reebok. Advantage Dirty

Graphics - Interesting, not as boring as the Miken and seems to hold up better than the Reebok. Advantage Dirty

Swing Weight - the fully loaded appears to be 12 3/4 - 13" from the end cap. Weighted similar to the Reebok EL - Advantage - PUSH

Flex - Dirty does not flex as much as the Reebok. It is not as stiff as the Centurian, somewhere in between.

Sweet Spot - I don't know, I hit too many on the handle or end cap to know that. IMO because of the bat being a somewhat thicker toward the handle and a litter stiffer than the Reebok, for me the sweet spot seems to be larger. Advantage Dirty

Durability - Not enough swings to determine. I don't usually break bats so I am not the guy to have an opinion on this. I still have my original Reebok I bought from Hollis and another from Arnie - Rated Athletics.

Distance - to me more important than distance is the speed of the ball off the bat. Ball jumps off both bats. I did not hit any 400' shots, but I did hit a number of 325-350. The ones that did not get out, got out to the fielders in a hurry. Advantage - PUSH

Ball Movement - I hit more knuckle balls with the Dirty than with the Reebok. Not an engineer, but that might have to do with the Reebok being more flexible. Personally, I like the outfielders squealing like teenage girls when it starts dancing....

I do not sell bats nor was I given any bats to keep. I spent my money on The Dirty. Our team hats have team combat on them, but we are not obligated to swing their bats.

I have tested other bats not yet on the market. If and when they are on the market, I will be glad to express my opinion...for what it is worth.no pun intended.

Sorry-Jawood. Here's my take-got a 30 balance-but it feels more end loaded than a Miken. The pop was great-right out of the wrapper. I probably hit 15 out on 40 hits. It is a tad too heavy for me, but it does have plenty of pop. I may try a 28 and see if it works. btw-I am most comfortable with a 29 balanced.
CRUSADER-Ron, if you find another one like the one last year-I WILL BUY IT FROM YOU!!

Another one of our players has had the chance to swing the Combat Dirty. Practically everyone in AZ knows Alan Dial as one of the best all around players in his division. He isn't one to boast but I am happy to brag on him. He is one of the top infielders to ever have played for GSF and one heck of a hitter (usually a lead off man).
Here are Alan's comments:

I have now had a chance to use the Combat Dirty (26oz) in batting practice and in game conditions. I consider myself a contact hitter as opposed to a power hitter. Here are my comments after my limited use (the bat has about 225 total swings on it).

As a contact hitter the first think I look for is the size of the “center of percussion” (sweetspot). The Combat Dirty seems to have a good size “sweetspot” either equal to or a little larger than a Miken U2.

As for trampoline effect (pop) I would rate it as good to very good. With only 225 swings on the bat it seems to not take a lot of swings to achieve the good “pop”.

As for durability, it is too soon to comment. After getting more swings on it I will comment on this aspect.

I have to add my take on durability. I have about 125 cuts on my 30 oz Dirty. It is too heavy for me for games-I didn't hit well in Vegas until I put it away. However, I have used it in practice with bp balls and it is holding up extremely well. It is the first bat I have had in a while that lasts that long. I will use it in bp and update.

Looks like I might sell this 30 Dirty and get a 28. Several guys in my league tried it and liked it-it has really opened up. Probably up to 150 cuts and still looks good-most I've had on a bat in a long time.

Me?? Big?? I'm pretty average except for 'Cruise Weber' (the gut I grew on our cruise the week before Vegas!) Swing-I'll email you tomorrow-there is one guy in our league interested but wants to use it one more time. I promised him Tuesday that I would give him first crack at it. Speaking of cracks-my newest Miken bit the dust after about 40 cuts-yes the one I was using Sunday in Vegas and hit 5 out in 6 at bats with it-I knew it was too hot to last-darn! It had 2 small cracks after that tourney so I used it to see in league and it broke clean. I am ordering the 28 oz Dirty tomorrow!

LMAO Ronnie, I'm about the same size as Ranaldi less a few pounds... always swing 30s and 29 ounce bats...

Webbie, I have been swinging the Dirty for the last 9 games I've played.. it's promising... I haven't been on my game yet but when I square the barrel it has nice pop...it's a 28 once... I prefer the heavier bat though!

DCPete-The old standard Black Balanced Miken. I tried one of the white 2-piece Mikens-felt ok. I do think if the 28 oz Dirty fits my swing it will be as hot as the Miken.
rightrj-I'm only 5'11 5/8" and about 215-not a big guy.28/29 appears to be it for me.

HJ, it's all about having your head into the game.. Business problems, Little league Managing over the last two months have put me in a less than stellar frame of mine.. I have been missing my league games and not been playing as much as I would've hope to... I have only a few more games to coach and I have clear sailing after that...

As far as health goes I'm a 100 percent(Had knee operation in Feb.)and ready to get back at it.. I know it's only a matter of playing more and getting a few more swings before it will feel like mid season...

Hitting more BPs helps also.. it's all about timing and when I get it tweaked correctly, I will be fine.

Swing, thank you. I wish I had a reason like work
and time-consuming distractions, but everything is aligned correctly and I still am not making consistent contact. Health is fine, I guess I just don't have it.

Has it done the Combat end cap distance flight thing yet?

W25 - the new 2-piece Mikens seem to outdistance the standard black & are supposed to last at least twice as long although for some of the beasts on this board that's still not a lot of swings . . .

HJ, Keep your head up.. I have seen this game go south for the best players time to time. It's how you handle those times what separates the best! I would be more concerned at your age with what happens when I do square up... is the power still there like the year before... if it is, You will be fine eventually.. just work hard and you will get through it! good luck to you this year!

Thank you Swing. Life is strange. Went to a balanced bat for consistency and have been inconsistent. Today was too cold for senior bats so used my old combat end loaded virus- 2 hits. I am going to stick with the Virus and stop thinking. Like one said about Mike Schmidt, I would probably hit better after a lobotomy. Thanks again.

I just got my 28 oz Dirty-right out of the wrapper in league this morning hit one paced off at 380. Wow, the ball jumped really well. Albuquerque is at 5000 feet so that accounts for a bit of it, but it jumped. Can't wait to break it in and see how long it lasts!

Webbie - eseman - thank you for your answers - I guess Ron is on his way to Reno in his big a$$ RV - or couldn't find his glasses or maybe both couldn't find his glasses but found his RV - so look out Cleveland.

Seems like this is a valid bat choice.
