Monsta Athletics will finally launch the bat that has REALLY grabbed attention from the teams that have played against our 40+ High Testosterone/Monsta Athletics squad......The ground breaking super bat "The Z-BRA" featuring the patent pending FIB technology. The first shipment of Z-bras will arrive in 2 weeks and they will go REALLY fast. Visit our FB page for more info or you may email Carl at info@claax.com if you have any questions

The Z-Bra is a BPF 1.21 bat that is specifically design for the senior bat breaker. The FIB design requires a high bat speed to take full advantage of its performance and is not for the average or below average swing speed player. It is only for you big hittin dudes!!!

LOL! This bat was really designed for the younger old guy! LOL. Big John Gilmore inspired me to make this bat and that is why it is his signature bat. John just turned 40 and was a LHB in 2011 and can not hit the current BPF 1.21 bats because he breaks them in 10-20 swings max and after talking to John it became apparent that there are MANY guys that have the same problem and end up swinging ASA and or USSSA bats when they play Senior ball. John gets about 200 swings from his Z-Bra and as that doesn't sound spectacular consider that he only got 10-20 out of the current bats so the Z-Bra give him 10 time the swings and he gets BPF 1.21 performance and he and the rest of the guys cant believe they are allowed to swing these bats!

They aren't made for the masses, just the MASSIVE!

BTW, i apologize if you guys are having a hard time getting through. I am wearing all the hats right now and am SLAMMED. I peronally build each and every bat by hand to order as well as handle day to day business and try my best to return emails and calls but obviously have not been successful at getting to them all. Best way to reach me is by email at info@claax.com.

Boy you guys triggered some old memories. How about this one for softball and drag racing. In the 80s I managed a fast pitch team in Orange county. For a while I had a nice younger guy that traveled all the way from Pasadena every Friday night to play with us. Pretty good second basemen too. But his passion was for drag racing and he had to leave us to peruse it. You Mopar guys will know him as Rick Houser the driver for over 25 years for Jim DeFrank's California Car Covers Hemi. Hemi Racer if you ever see him tell him I said hello. Come to think about it recruit him Because he's a senior now :O) Anytime any of you guys want to bench race at our tournaments please feel free. From the time I first drove into Old San Gabriel Dragway at 18 to now I love the sport. So I have lots of stories. Have a good one guys and remember "if it don't go chrome it" BTW Speaking of Monsta Bats take a look at our web site ... Wouldn't want Carl to think I hijacked his topic.

Marv, I ran against Rick for many years, both in Super Stock and Comp. We both ran Bob Panella motors, he was actually driving for Panella when I ran him in Comp. I consider him a friend, a tuff racer for sure, and see him a couple of times a year. Will see him next month here in Vegas and he'll get a hello from you for certain. Small world...................
Also, as to not hijack, Houser would be considered a Monsta driver........

I ran out of the Ray Barton shop, but always had a good relationship with Charley. He even shared his trans. guy with me. DeFrank was always tuff when eliminations started. Are the west coast hemis still racing?

Thanks Rob it is a small world. Panella Trucking. Does that bring back some images. I remember his Blown AA/GS Anglia with a 4 speed (yes 4 speed) get sideways on every shift a old Irwindale one night. Ken Dondero was an unbelievable driver. These cars were only 100 inch wheel base!! Im so glad to have my two great recreation passions as the better part of my life. Drag Racing and Softball. Both make for wonderful friendships and some "Monsta" memories :O)

As a side note if you're in Vegas did you know the guys from National Speed Center on Freemont st?

Swing, I know the Monsta Fossil has been a great senior bat for me. Over 600 hits so far and has a ton of pop in it! I am in Minnesota and have played inside a dome all winter with temps around 60 degrees. The Fossil has worked fabulous and proved to be durable here so far. So if the Z-bra, with the FIB design, is made for guys with great power and bat speed to be durable, then I would give it a go if you are one of those big power guys. You could then post your reviews of this bat for everyone.

Navy,

What kind of balls are you hitting in the dome? In dome ball around here(Michigan) we hit the Incrediball. That ball is so spongy it has no effect on the durability of bats.

Marv, Dondero was a show by himself! Moved here after racing, not familiar with the Fremont St boys................
Hemi, haven't seen the West Coast hemi's in great numbers. Still a few at the Divisionals and Natls, but no shows as an Association.

Rob I know Top Gun Thunder 50AAA have a Monsta. No Guts No Glory 60AAA have one. Those are the only teams I know personally that have one.

National Speed Center moved to Charleston in about 1983 or 84. It was a nice building I'd say around 3000 sq ft. I think the business closed down in early 2000s when Jim contracted cancer. Had a lot of good times with the people there. They carried all the products in my brief case :O)

As for Dondero how about Willy Borsch driving with one hand with his arm on the door of a AA/FA. You know Mike Lovelle lives there. (Lovelle Bros A/SR) His wife Linda is very active with the Republican party in the state

Maybe we'll see you guys over here one day

I hit the Monster Fossil over the weekend. The bat had about 50 swings on it and did well.

I cannot speak to the durability.

The bat flexed and the ball jumped fairly well.It was a 28oz EL, the weight was not as end loaded as either the Reebok or the Dirty.
The sound the bat made was similar to broken glass for obvious reasons.

For me it flexed a little more than the reebok and a lot less than the Dirty. IMO, The Dirty and Reebok both will out distance the Fossil, but overall I would not hesitate purchasing the bat based on its initial performance.

Curveball, that class has gotten so competitive AND expensive which is way I had to go home.
Those California boys are tough, it's hard to stay with big money. Course Jimmy has so many other cars he runs he won't miss one. Looking forward to seeing some old friends at the Southern Nationals(Atlanta) next month.
If these bats keep going up and belonging to the bat of the month club I may have to go home from softball also.
Take Care

Rob (curveball) glad you had a good race and congrats. I read somewhere Rick has his own ride. Its red in color I think. I'll have to do some research. Looked like a good race. I was rooting for an all girls final in Funny car though. I always liked Stardust Raceway in the old days. Haven't been to the new track as I don't get to vegas that often. Yes by all means come over. We have 11 tournaments a year. Next weekend we have 26 teams. Hemi guy enjoy the southern nationals. I was in atlanta once a lifetime ago when I worked for Mr Gasket. I had a blast in those days.

But reality and old age catches up to you. Sad day today my first real TV love (8th grade) passed on today. God bless you Annette... RIP. Bit of trivia for you old guys that were Mouseketeer fans. Mouseketeer Tommy was non other than Top Fuel TV Tommy Ivo. But I never watched because of the guys anyway just, Annette :O( If you're interested there is a very nice article about her on the FOX News web site

Have a good one

HR: Boy what an ego too... Yes technically I worked for Joe cuz he was president. He had a personality like dracula. Well I guess he had no personality then. My boss was Dennis Holding VP of Sales. Now this will take you back. Remember the Frantic 4 top fuel dragster? The "Four" were Weekly, Rivero, Fox and Holding. Jim Fox and Dennis Holding supported the top fuel car with a paper route in Pomona. Yes a paper route. They threw papers at 3am to 7am and then went to work in the day. Fun days for sure!!

I would have preferred to this directly to Marv19 and hemiracer, but in my old age, can't figure out how to do that on this site. Couldn't find a direct mail option member to member.
Got a "white hot" driver! Put Justin Lamb in the Comp car last year for the fall Vegas race, he won the event. Followed up the next weekend with a Division 7 win also at LV. Next time out, yesterday, he won Comp at Crazy Horse (Phoenix). He also has his own Super Stock car; and, is leading the World points after just 2 events. The kid is tough, looks to be a fun year.

I've been swinging a fossil for 3 seasons now, all I can say is great bat, ball speed thru the infield and distance is as good as any other senior bat on the market, price was cheaper and you can buy a one time replacement warranty, which I haven't had any need for at this point, I'm not a big guy but I did manage to break an ultra two the first season that I played senior ball, since buying the fossil I have no other needs, great bat carl and your customer service far outweighs any other bat company I have ever dealt with

Mikie... The Fossil has a SSUSA Stamp on it. As far as I know it was approved. I haven't kept up with Monsta as I am now selling the Dudley.

Hemi racer, Curveball: Had a nice conversation with an old friend at the Worlds in November. My son who had a Hot wheels Snake and Mongoose set at around 10 is a big fan now. But he didn't want anything to do with Drag Racing when he was young. At 45 has become a big fan. As we were entering the Pomona pits to the left was a Snake and Mongoose tent. I said there is the Goose you want to meet him? He said yea! So I introduced him. Got his pic with him. Had Not talked to Tom in 35 years but he remembered me. We also have a mutual friend in Phoenix. Long story short my kid :) says dad you really do know him ... duh. Kids ... sometime I wonder. I Wish Justin all the luck in the world. Its a great sport to be in.

Well the only conclusion is: He had these bats made with a stamp on it without permission or it was approved then. If its the former then SSUSA needs to take action. If they aren't on the list then SSUSA dropped them off. Question is why. I have 1 broken and one dud in the garage. Both have the SSUSA (approved) BPF 121 on the the barrel.

SSUSA Bat Policy
Beginning on Jan. 1, 2014, Senior Softball-USA will license new senior bats and publish an Approved Bat List for all sanctioned SSUSA Tournaments.

ALL APPROVED BATS (1.21 bpf) MANUFACTURED BEFORE 2014 ARE ALLOWED

This policy is being implemented for two reasons:

First and foremost, it is designed to protect our players and the sport. In the past few years, several entities have begun developing senior bats. This policy provides a significant barrier to bat manufacturers who do not have the wherewithal to establish manufacturing procedures that meet minimum industry standards to ensure bats are consistently meeting standards.

Second, it is a fairness issue: many of the bat manufacturers support the sport through some type of sponsorships. These sponsors face economic requirements that other bat manufacturers, who do not support the sport, do not face. This policy is designed to even the playing field.

The SSUSA bat policy is simple:

Each model and weight must be submitted to Dr. Richard Brandt at New York University and be tested and meet the 1.21 bpf standard. Dr. Brandt forwards his results directly to SSUSA. The bats must also meet other standards listed in the SSUSA Rulebook, including length.
Bat manufacturers with bats that meet the standard, then pay a minimum licensing fee each year.
Senior Softball USA requires manufacturers to name Senior Softball-USA as additionally insured on a $10 million liability insurance policy in case of injury.
After the agreement is reached, and SSUSA receives a copy of the insurance coverage, the bat is added to the Approved SSUSA Bat list and may be used in all SSUSA tournaments.
