The "P413" is nearly ready
Friends, Some of you know that I have been involved with testing of a new senior bat, the "P413". The engineering, design and testing has been going on for 2 years and the bat is now ready to be manufactured and will be ready to ship to players in June.

The "P413" has been tested by big strong young athletes with the goal to achieve top performance and to see if they could break it. Guys have been hitting monster shots with it and as of yesterday, the newest prototype has 1,820 hits on it. The performance is better than any other senior bat on the market and the durability is simply amazing. Can you imagine having a bat that you can hit all your bp and hit in tournaments for a full year and if you break it, you get a brand new replacement.

I used a "P413" prototype in Bullhead City last month in 2 games. I hit 2 doubles and 2 singles with it and took an outfielder back to the fence. This prototype was given to me in early December so the technology was not as advanced as the current ones. I was very pleased with it. The bat goes out for the approval stamp in the next week or two.

There will be a full one year warranty on the "P413" and that will be a no questions asked replacement warranty. The price is $230. If you are interested in one, I am taking orders now. The bats are made in the USA and I can help you get yours.

Many of you have worked with me over the past three years and you know that I have met my obligations to you and have dealt honorably with you. Let me know how I may be of help to you.

ED,
Spoken like the true salesman that you are. The Core has been in 'production' for over 3 years according to the posts here within. But lets see if all the promises you are a part of now, hold up.
How can you use a bat that didn't have stamps on it?
Your not a power hitter so all those hits are not meaningful to me even if a few were by some hard hitters.
Cost is very good with a warranty.
I'd be more inclined to believe Carl and his small group about the 2 Monstra bats than anything related to this one.
But I hope it works out for you.
Muse be why you signed an agreement so you could get the rep deal...I still hope it pans out.

Scott: I understand your sentiment and concern. To be honest, I expected this and it is ok. My email(above)said bat is going to the approval stamp process. Once it is approved, manufacturing will begin. The hits I spoke of (above) are from players much younger, stronger and much more powerful than you and/or I.

I stand by the information and by my words. I believe the information (above) to be true and correct. I am not known for false statements or actions. I thank you for your feedback. It is appreciated.

How were you able to hit a bat that didn't hadn't been approved? ;)

I meant to say "used it in a tournament".

It was quite simple. It was a recreational tournament non sanctioned by any senior organization. I took the bat to the umpires and told them it was not approved and that I was testing it. I asked if they would allow me to use it to give feedback. Their response was to ask the opposing teams which I did and I offered the ability for them to use it in the games. The managers had no problem and the umpires allowed it.

Ed,
Did you previously state your affiliation with GBC? If you did I missed it.
When you posted on March 13 I got the distinct impression, correctly or incorrectly, that you were offering your input as an impartial observer. I commented at the time that this 'doubled' your credibility. I do not recall your correcting me.
I did think that it was odd for you to just 'happen to be in the area' when you toured the SC factory.
So just exactly how are you connected to GBC? If you will be selling their bats (or working for them in any capacity) the 'impartial' tag is no longer appropriate.
Bear in mind that I do not have a dog in this fight... I never gave them any front money nor have I been waiting for this 'miracle' to come to life.

For what it's worth, I did watch some guys hitting one of GBC's products last July in San Clemente, CA (Steed Park). The CEO of GBC was there 'measuring' the distance that the bp balls were going and verbalizing them to the other 2-3 guys. Let's just say that my interpretation of 380' and his differ greatly. I watched them for 10-15 minutes from both ends... near McKinley and near the hitter. The bat looked like nothing that I had seen before (color, graphics, etc.) as it looked pretty plain. The hitter was not hitting from home plate but from the right field corner. The wind was blowing in from that direction. Was this why he hit from there? I do not know as there could be other reasons.
Was this one of the GBC senior prototypes? I cannot say since I never spoke with anyone there nor did I inspect the bat. Could have been some other bat.

Correction:
It was last August that I saw the BP not in July. There were 2 different senior events there last summer... but the BP took place during the week at 4pm or so.

GSC...the video I saw and google distance indicates that there were a couple hit around 380. If the bat I hit is eventually approved and stamped, it will be a gamechanger.

I have heard, that if bats are not approved and on the shelf by June, the associations will not approved them for use in the National Tourneys of the same calendar year.

Either way June is just around the corner.

GSC? My fault.
I wasn't speaking to the video. What I personally witnessed was not 380.
Ed, I saw you in BHC on Mar 4. Has the bat been approved in the last 30 days?

wood: I am and have been a loyal Reebok rep. I was asked to be a part of the GSC direction and philosophy some time ago. I am a believer and my family is in support of my decision to be part of this. I will still continue to help people with their softball equipment goals and as I have for years.

I was in SC for my 40th high school reunion and the factory was close to where we were staying. The company specializes in quality industrial fabrication and application of different media.

Thanks for your input and reply. I will continue in my path to speak truthfully and to help ball players with their goals and needs.

Ed, as I said before, I trust you. But it seems as if you're side stepping. This somewhat conflicts with your mantra.

Has the P413 been approved or not?

What is your specific role w/ GSC?

Who says that it's better than any senior bat on the market?

As Taits has stated numerous times, this subjet has been one of broken promises, deceit and ill feelings. It sort of looks like someone covering cat poop with cat poop. In comes Ed with veiled comments.

It takes more than the 'trust equity' that you have earned. You've walked into a 3 year debacle that has baffled/annoyed many.
If your goal is to 'speak truthfully and help players' you might start with straight answers.

wood: you have every right to speak as you see fit. Your statements however do not change what I am about or what was said by me. If you read what I said, it said the bat is going shortly to the process of getting the stamp. It does not have a stamp today.

Because I speak about this bat and about the group, does not in any way take away from my integrity or my reputation. I believe that the problems in the past stemmed from one man who did not do right by others and he is no longer a part of the company. The current owner has integrity and will do right by others, in my opinion. With regard to my roll with the company, it has not been completely defined.

With regard to the product. I respect anyone who spends the time, the effort and the expense to bring a product to a quality level. To meet a quality level in the US is not an easy task and to do so, demands a great deal of time.

I currently swing a Reebok Melee Legend. I believe it is the best approved senior bat out there. Others have different opinions. That makes the world go round. As time goes on, I believe technology and desire for quality will result in better products.

In a short time, we will see what has been achieved by GSC and engineers. Thanks for your post. I appreciate it.

the wood, I am not sure what your motive is by calling surf88 a liar like you are. You may try to sugarcoat your words, but that is exactly what you are doing. People called me a liar on here as well when I told people that I have been to the factory, which I have.

taits on the other hand is simply a chronic negative poster as evidenced in his many posts of reading things into something that isn't there on most other subjects he responds to.

Both you and taits are well aware of the history/circumstances that lead to today with Steve. Yet in almost every post about this you bring up the complete history of the progression of the bat, although you both are very aware it has little to do with Steve and the current product.

Everyone knows surf88 on here, ask yourself what he has to gain versus what he has to lose by talking about the bat. Why in the world do you think he would be talking about this unless he truly believed it was about to happen?

I speak with Steve a couple of times a week and it appears to me that something pretty special is about to come out. Instead of sticking your neck out and calling people liars, wait a little while and see.

If things would fall completely apart, I would be the first to say I am wrong, I would bet surf88 would do the same...to taits and the wood, will you?

Ed, as of now, it is not approved. Correct? That does answer one of my questions... the other two remain unanswered.

Cal50:
I generally don't call people liars when I trust them. Perhaps you'd benefit from re-reading my post.
I also don't dance around issues. If I felt that Ed was a liar I'd say so. What I've asked for are straight answers... not nebelous responses. Until he does give forthright answers the questions will continue.
It's great that you and Ed really like the current owners of GSC. When they step up and deliver something tangible others will fall in line... until then they'll continue to see skepticism. Actions speal louder than words.
As to your question... what does Ed have to gain v. what he could lose? As I said (again, trying reading my post), Ed does have 'trust equity' from this board as well as his dealings as a Reebok rep. Seems to me that he has more to lose than to gain but that's just my opinion.
Straight answers work better than constant vagueries toward maintaining trust. That's my primary point.

surf88 (Ed),
We all follow the board and the peripheral discussions away from the clay, it's become a part of the game( thanks SSUSA). And we have all certainly followed the GSC and pre-GSC threads regarding this discussion with warranted skepticism.

Well I must say, for the first time in this thread of multi year discussions, I believe you that there will be a bat produced. And me, I'm usually a doubting Thomas by nature, but somehow your words just seem to resonate truth. Best of luck...

I hope everyone is having a good day and getting ready for a great weeknd.

There is always a backstory, but here are the facts. Glowing compliments or scathing criticism is somewhat premature until any product reaches the market.

I will not speak for Wood, but GSC and Steve have been trying to get this bat to the market for 2 years. They were at Phoenix in 2011 with his "marketing team" and comments were made that the bat would be out in the spring. There have been numerous instances in 2012 were similar comments were made indicating the bat would be available within a month. Combined with the elusive address for the factory in SC it created a healthy amount of skepticism on this board regarding the probabilty the bat would come to fruition. I do not know one way or another the answer to that question.

I believe that all parties involved in this string are passoniate regarding their positons. Wood has never been known to mince words and when we were teammates we did not always play nice with eachother.

I have known Steve for about 20 years, I speak with Steve and I have hit the bat. IF the bat is approved and stamped then it will be a gamechanger, until then it is meassage board fodder. June is less than 60 days away.

Softball4b:
You're correct, the problems that we had as teammates were not based on either of us 'sugar coating' things.

Southern Son:
I said the same thing in mid March... 'Ed's involvement will generate hope for some'. In fact, I never posted on any of these threads until Ed became involved. But he is held to the same standards as everyone else that sells stuff on this board. No more, no less.

softball4b states it pretty well.

the wood, this comment you made

I did think that it was odd for you to just 'happen to be in the area' when you toured the SC factory.

is why I said what I did, perhaps I was wrong in what you meant when you put it that way.

Cal50:
I don't know if you were wrong or not. I asked it because it did seem odd to me.

But that's yesterday's newspaper since Ed already responded to that particular question and answered it fully. As it turns out, he did just happen to be in the area... good enough for me.

All semantics aside, Steve McKinlay called me about his bat, his role and his intentions. I plan to meet him and test it myself. Whether I like it or not, I do appreciate his making the effort to do so. Turns out that we live 1-2 miles apart.

I've been called many things on this board, on fields or wherever. You calling me a 'sugar coater' is certainly different than anything that I'm used to hearing... and I consider it a step up form all the other things, a compliment of sorts. :-)

Guys: we are all senior ball players and we were most probably all very competitive in the day with egos and perhaps issues. What hopefully has filtered in to our lives is faith, maturity, understanding and a calm.

We read about players passing on and as time continues, we will experience more of the same.

Not everything can be spelled out or discussed in a public forum. I understand passion and criticism. Perhaps as we discuss topics it would be wise to add a healthy respect to one another. I appreciate everyone I've met, dealt with, played with and against in senior ball and I hope you will excuse or forgive me if I have offended or hurt anyone on or off the fields. As I grow in the spirit, I continue to learn.

I love to play ball and I whatever I do, work or play, I do it with passion and intensity. I try to make it count. Ed

They have been building this bat up for years now, How about no post about this bat until it is on the shelves with a certified stamp! Anything else is BS... I had seen this bat hit and it did not out perform the Demarini my team was hitting on 350 fences and only seen a few balls clear the 350 fence with Nothing even remotely close to 400 ft as reported! But what do I know!
