Southwest Championships, Vegas
SSUSA: I hope this request is not problematic in any way but can you share with us when the brackets will be available for the 60AAA division? Really appreciate your assistance.

need to be patient session 1 always goes 1st, 65 & over. They play Tues-Thur, just think when we move up to 65 we will play during the week and the hotels rates won't go up since they don't play on the weekend. I counted 13 AAA teams which so make our division strong.

I am Curious & Disappointed! There are at least 5 Active Major-Plus 50's Teams in Cali, yet none are Playing in the Southwest Championships in Vegas!? Is there another Tournament that weekend? Injuries? Work/Schedule Conflicts? Saving funds for Reno? In Review of the Tournament Schedule, what am I missing ? ? ?

Two trips to Vegas in the same year might get expensive... In North Cal the teams are playing in NSA and NCSSA so one extra trip to vegas is not in the cards for most, my guess!

Jeff, I cannot speak for EBO, or GSC but our MTC 50 team doesn't plan on going because we are a mostly local, limited funds team.

Heck 9 of us are on the same league team.

We will try at least one ssusa major plus this season Since we were bumped....maybe we can compete?????? but....if its not enjoyable we will probably just skip Worlds in the 50s in the future.. At least that would be my vote.

We scheduled the ASA World in Medford and probably the SSUSA in Vegas as our two travel events.

We are skipping Reno and the calcup also....

Probably (depending on number of teams) western nationals in our own back yard/Sacramento area. Are you guys comming to NorCal/Reno? We might play that one if 7 of the western plus teams are attending

We have many options here in NorCal....NCSSA has many good tourneys, with their hall of fame event as the number one event in norcal...they are even creating an open division where out of area teams can come to play. We here the legends, nazareino and demolition are considering it...5 game RR...out of area teams start Saturday afternoon.

NSA is running one day 50s now...and word is their 50 Worlds is going to be in Sacramento.

We also have many 40 events we can play in (they give us an 11th player)

So......there really isnt any need to travel all over the place for senior softball.

I can only guess that Arizona isn't set up in senior ball like NorCal is??? Maybe you guys could look into how NCSSA was created and how it's benefited all the senior players here.

I received a call from a player on Demolition's team that a text went out that due to some travel and health issues they would be unable to field a team for the remainder of the year.

Tim,
Oh ouch on the Demolition rant.
So how is it that your 55 team maybe even at 50's, can get 11 players? Just curious.
NSA is spreading out but needs to get better with more cities for seniors. They come to Fresno but are kids events.

Hi Tim, We could possibly be interested in the hall of fame event if we have enough notice. We just want to play and are certainly limited in the events that are close to AZ. We also have limited funds. We can't even play in our own AZ tourneys unless we agree to exhibitions, which we have to to get in any games at all. We just want to play and compete against the best, if we get our butts handed to us oh well...... We'll try and be better the next time.

Malo37,
Dates for that are Aug 15,16,17,18 depending on primarily the bracket.
Great BLD, but a $3 cost to get in with a buck token to use at the costly restaurant they have...good food though.
Off hwy 120 in Manteca at Yosemite exit if you care top look for it.
Usually fills up.
Sometimes games get cut down cause of the leagues they have going those days as well... food for thought.
Reasonable entry fee though.

Thanks for the feedback guys! Yah Tim, we don't quite have the Softball Population like California. We have a few SSUSA Events throughout the year here in Arizona, and a couple Fun Tourney's up in the cool pines during the summer. Maybe if/when NSA has some Senior Events out here we will be able to play a few more 1-day Tourney's?! Arizona Elite was really looking forward to playing the 5-6 Major Plus Teams out West, but it sounds like a lot of what I mentioned above is starting to unfold. There are still several Good Major Teams to play, it just would have been nice to have 10+ combined Teams in an Upper Bracket!

I believe all of our Major Plus Teams should Collaborate our Schedules so we can maintain our competitive level of play with Maximum Participation. So-Cal & Vegas are much more Economic for our Travels from AZ, but that's not to say we can't mix in 1 or 2 Tourney's somewhere in the middle to get the Nor-Cal Teams as well as NW Legends in the mix. We dropped Mesquite & Reno from our Original Schedule, but I believe we're gonna play in Sac-Town?! Tim, you and I discussed Medford before, and I thought we determined that it isn't truly the ASA 50's World?! It's more of just a Senior Festival Tourney?!

More on the topic of Arizona Senior Softball, I personally would like to see a mix of Combo Tourney's with 40s and 50s. Again, we don’t have the Population, but this would help Grow our Program(s) for the future, and allow us to maintain our own Competiveness in state! Nuff said, but let's try to keep a collective open line of communication so we can continue to Grow our Senior Program(s) on the West Coast . . .

Good Luck & Be Safe,

Jeff, I am sorry to read your area isn't fortunate enough to have the options we have here.

ASA in Medford is their western world...talk is they might incorporate it into there east west finals at Oklahoma in the future.

On the NCSSA hall of fame event. You can google "NCSSA 2012"...we have added an open division this year....anyone can show up.....it's a Saturday and Sunday only tourney....5 games....you could fly into sac. San Jose, Oakland or sf......all of them are within an hour of the park.

They are even trying to see how the fly in teams want their brackets set....ie late Saturday or early sunday.

With NCSSA program support we have three major plus 50s, MTC 55 major plus and nazarinno showed up last year.....we also have a very solid major team Barron's/warriors. Contact the director...I think entry fee is $325?

AZ Elite is scheduled to do 5 of ours this year. Sorry you guys couldn't come Saturday - Sunday. We had five 50M teams and four 55M teams. 45 minutes from Ontario International Airport with 11 regional tournaments throughout the year we offer a great opportunity to play in the Southern California sun. See you next month!
