Evil Wax Bat Grip
Bob,
Used the sample of the Evil Bat grip in league last nite. The product works great and smells great too. Didn't quite know how to apply it( put on bat or batting glove ) so what I did was put some on the dug out pole and grabbed what I needed everytime I came to bat. I would recommend this product to all softball players....Thanks Again

Used it in my 4th game today and I really like it.

It really worked. It was just enough grip on the bat but didn't interfere with my pitching. In fact like Bob told me it might improve my pitching. I will check it out again today and in practice this week and after using Evil Grip my curve ball developed a sharp break in and down. If I can do that in a game it will make me a better pitcher than I am know. It may be just a quittance but right now I chalk it up to the Evil Grip.

I have been having trouble this year, mainly because they are making us use a screen, and with dry hands which was causing the ball to slip out of my hand but after using the Evil Grip I seem to have a just enough grip on the ball and still have ball slide off my fingers for my change up and drop ball not like the pine tar stick did and now seem to have my control back to be able to hit my spots.

I may even try it bowling (Candlepin) tomorrow as I am having the same problem there with slippery grip with my dry skin.

Thanks for the review Fred, I expect more will be coming soon.
I had a feeling this product might cross over to the pitching side of the game but Im not so sure of the legality of its use in that manor.

Bob - used my sample last night. Works great on the bat. Like the sticky texture and, like Fred S, I was surprised at the bare hand ball grip improvement, too. Was a game with wet grass. I'm sharing the rest of the sample with my teammates.

Just an update. It didn't work bowling. The ball is too smooth and applying directly to the hands doesn't seem to work as well as just the residue for the grip on the ball.

I was thinking about putting a small amount in the pocket of my glove. 2 reasons, to help keep the water from affecting the leather and help keep a ball from popping out of my glove.
You could put some on the back of your glove and take it to your throwing hand as needed to increase your grip when throwing in from the outfield for sure. Especially in the wet times.

Fred and Bobby, sorry but foreign substances aren't allowed on a pitchers or any players hand according to the 2013-2014 SSUSA rule book;

6.9 • PITCHING RESTRICTIONS
Neither the pitcher nor any other player shall, at any time during the game, be allowed to use any foreign substance upon the ball, the pitching hand or the fingers. Under the supervision and control of the umpire, powdered resin may
be used to dry the hands. The pitcher may wear a sweatband on the pitching arm or tape on the fingers. Batting gloves may not be worn on the pitching hand.
EFFECT: An illegal pitch shall be called on the first offense. If the pitcher continues to place a foreign substance on the ball, he should be ejected from the ball game.

Bruce: I know that applying the wax to your hand to go out an pitch is illegal. In fact I have been told that when I pick up dirt in my hand when I want to throw a change up is also illegal but I have never been called on it.

But how does the ump or anyone detect the residue from the bat grip when you hit? In my case that little bit of residue is just enough to give me a slightly better grip to control the ball.

Tried the Evil Wax Bat Grip yesterday.

Always been a pine tar guy, never a fan of the spray. Last year switched to firm grip after the pine tar leaked in my bag for the umptenth time. Not happy with the way it builds up on the bat or batting glove.

The EWBG appears to be slightly less tacky than the firm grip and less is more. If you put on too much on the bat, it takes a while for me to feel comfortable that I have control of the bat. No reapplication was necessary ove the course of the batting practice.

No firm opinion (no pun intended, but it is certainly worth a look as an alternative.
