Softball for Santa Cruz, Ca
I am moving to Santa Cruz, CA soon & would like to start a softball club for seniors. I currently play in Maui "Makule" Senior Softball League, which is 60+ and plays with a 14" ball. Anyone interested? Please e-mail me, firstname.lastname@example.org.

There are two senior softball teams in Santa Cruz. No Dice 60 majors and Santa Cruz Irregulars

I'm looking to form a local recreational level, not a tournament level program. I've checked w/ rec dept in SC & Capitola and as far as I know there is no local program for seniors. I know of No Dice, played against them years ago in fast pitch, haven't heard of SC Irregulars. I would like to start weekly or twice weekly workouts that may create interest in forming a league. I have some contacts from old playing days, but not enough to get anything going.

bpono, sounds like a great idea. I think B.K. was naming two teams to let you know there might already be 30 or so seniors in the area. See what kind of cooperation you get from the rec departments. In my observation, if you get a supportive rec director, then fields will be available during the week day, and maybe at night on a little used field, for a senior program. If you get the wrong person, then you can look forward to exorbitant costs for renting fields, no availability in the evening, etc., and a senior rec league just doesn't get done. Manager names and information for both clubs are available on Northern California Senior Softball Association's website at http://norcalseniorsoftball.com A call to them will likely let you know how cooperative local rec departments are. If positive, it may only take your committed effort to make a league happen!
